The Cambie Bar & Grill

Probably Vancouver's oldest running Pub it has changed a lot over the years but a good times can be had on the patio for sure.patio at night is lit up with string lights.

Used to go there decades ago when it was a real dive bar. Now it is clean and airy and full of nerdy rich kids in their 20s. Noisy and annoying. Server and door staff seem to struggle with basic English, they were difficult to talk to. Service was slow and unattentive. Not a great bar IMHO.

However, I also had the BEST burger I have had in a long, long time. Double bacon cheese burger was OUTSTANDING, as recommended by a friend. 5 stars. Wife had gross fish tacos, I tried to eat one and it was terrible.

So the place kinda sucked BUT that burger was worthwhile. I'll be back for that, but not much else. It's nothing like the bar I knew and loved back in the day.

Maybe this place should check who they hire as the security guys.
Haven't seen someone with so much attitude in my life and both of those goons who were present acted extremely racist to us.
That alone, spoiled our entire experience of this place and we won't be coming there for sure, neither would recommend anyone.

I would like to have a reference about the service, but I don't have it, since at first they wouldn't let me pass, being a tourist and wanting to visit a bar with my boyfriend and have a good time, I ask for 2 ID, at that moment only we had 1 each, they asked us for a credit card per person, we only had one, it's the second time we've come and they don't let us go through the ID issue, the last time we came the security guard didn't mention anything to us about 2 identifications! If it wasn't for the guy today, who showed us the sign, we didn't even notice, and we went to nightclubs and other downtown bars with no problems, this bar is either restricted or they just wouldn't let us in.

Been here several times. Very much a younger person's bar & I find it amusing - at my age - to be asked to show ID to gain admittance!

It is louder that I personally like but wouldn't put anyone off giving it a try.

Really rude people met at the front door, straight up racism at this point, 3 of my white friends walked in 10 mins before me with only 1 piece of ID, when i walk in, they want me to show them two pieces, won’t even accept the fact i have a VISA. Never going back, worst bar, should be reported

It is a good place to hang out with friends, the beer costs are not so high, the food is very tasty and the waitresses' service was very good.

I was at karaoke night and it was quite fun and the food took about 20 minutes to arrive, and the access to the place was very fast.

A GREAT starting point for downtown events! The food is good, the beer is plentiful and diverse. So glad this place was rescued from the wrecking ball!

Ordered a snack, specified an allergy but was sadly given the wrong thing (at first) even though I was really clear with the server (1). I ate some of it without knowing then a really nice server (2) : replaced it and comped my meal. I didn’t catch their name but has green eyes and is great at customer service. The other server (1) who took the order should be writing orders down if they’re gonna get confused about allergies.

Visually Impaired: Service was excellent as was the food. And kitchen staff were very fast.

Manager: Please consider readability under low light when you print new menus. Tkx.

This is definitely the spot to check out while you’re in Vancouver. The line is usually very long but it’s worth the wait once you’re in. I would also say that pre-covid this was a great way to meet new people but in recent years you won’t get that same effect.

Took my daughter here for her 19th birthday, the music was great and the people were awesome! The staff was really friendly, and they even gave her a free birthday shot!

Inexpensive and clean surprise. Perfect place to unwind after a day of touristing. Try the Vancouver island cocktail: cold brew coffee Irish cream and vodka.

Service was terrible, security guards were rude. Drinks were cheap. There are better places to go

One of the best bars in Vancouver. Food is great and parties were amazing! Love to see finally also my flag hanging there.

I have a broken leg and they wouldn't even let me sit on there patio and get a drink, because I didn't have a vaccine passport.

I drop a little piece of my heart there. I hope one day i can go back in cambie to get it back.

I was really surprised with the quality of food. Would never expected it to be so nice. The service was also good. This place was a real surprise

I have been in this place 4 times with my husband, and in all these moments we have been treated in a harsh way, I’m specifically speaking about the bouncer of the place. We thought it was something related to stress or just bad mood, but he was very respectful with other people and we noticed a patron here. Last time we decided to not go back to that place ever again, he was very mean at us since the beginning and for no reason. My friend also experience the same situation with that person and in a different day, I do not know what is going on with that person and if it is something related to where you come from (I’m saying this because he was very nice with other people at the same moment). Creepy situation. I am never going to give my money to that place.

Not good place for breakfast at all, the waiting time is 45mins and they were not even busy, I went there couple times and today was the worst. Maybe if you can spend whole morning waiting for your food, go for that.

A Vancouver institution, this place is near-legendary. Pretty much everyone has been here at some point in time, and for good reason. Drinks are cheap, food is decent, they've got a plethora of TVs, plus pinball in the back. Large communal tables can lead to meeting some cool new folks to spend the evening hanging out with.

2 stars because the security staff, and the bathrooms.

The security staff here are power-tripping jerks, who like to push people around because they can. My group of 12 (12!) was sitting at one of the large tables, and there were no empty seats nor space at the table. Yet the bouncer insisted that we all sit closer together, because they needed more seats. This despite the place being half empty at the time. His method of telling us to get closer consisted of walking up and just jabbing a woman in our group in the side with his finger, then pointing at where he wanted her to go, followed by more poking at other members of our group. When called out on his behaviour, he just shrugged and said he was doing his job, and we had to listen to him. He came back and did it again 10 minutes later.

Bathrooms might as well be in a swamp. There was at least a half inch of disgusting water covering the entire floor of the mens room, meaning just walking in there will result in wet feet.

Draft beer + fish and chips + friendly people keeps the customers coming to this neighborhood pub in an old part of town.

Left after 40 mins of waiting for the classic breakfast. The place wasnt even full or busy. Why did it take so long to scramble 2 eggs and bacon.

Went there because of all the good ratings. Was surpeised the place looked like a dump, was frequented by some odd crowd during lunchtime and there was a peculiar smell to top it all off. The food was okay though.

Great place to enjoy drinking with friends, however get crowded sometimes and the music could use some improvement.

I like the bar, it has good drinks and it's pretty fun. The only thing that I dislike about it is the security guys, they are always so rude! I had 2 situations with them in 2 times I went to the bar - different guys. 1st - my friend was smoking outside then they decided to close the bar all of a sudden, he got stuck outside and his backpack was inside, there were a lot of people in the same situation and it was a nightmare, it took a long time for them to finally deliver people's bag outside. 2nd - I was at the bar then I decided to go to the washroom before leaving, so this guy from security didn't allow me to go to the washroom because the bar was "closed" according to him - there were a lot of people inside yet. Soooooo rude and stupid! Never go back to this place again!

Have been here numerous times over they years when I was in Vancouver visiting. Used to go there when they had their burger brew sit out on the patio with a pitcher in the summer time. Was never a fan of the indoor seating arrangement. Essentially picnic tables. Good if you have a group big enough to fill up the table not so good when you don't.
Since there is nothing worse than being seated by some young punks who are sipping on their first beer. The men's washroom is disgusting.
In a border line sketchy part of town. If you are young and going in a group not bad. If you are not and going by yourself.ahhh not so much
To leave on a positive note the building itself is interesting. Over 100 years old.

Be prepared to wait as the server helps everyone else before you, even if you get there first. Multiple occasions same issue. Basic breakfast is great and cheap though. Substitute meat for fried veggies if you’re vegetarian.

Pub with style! Legendary Cambie bar is popular amongst travelers, students, locals, Great beer selection, good snacks (go with the yammies!). Not so cheap but not overpriced either. Perfect spot to meet with friends during the day, even better in the evening when music invites you to dance.:) Check out the Latino night on Tuesdays but make sure you arrive early enough.

Crowded place, they'll eventually need a Latin DJ at night, nice restrooms, security, and a little poor assistance from the staff. Great to start off the party on a weekend.

Visiting here brought back memories of the early 2000s. Under New Management they have definitely redesigned the interior however, it took away from the uniqueness of the actual bar. With their long tables that were carved and graffiti over the years even that really down to earth feeling.

I really like the environment, I like even more to have beer for a good price, and that's what matters after all

Loud place, always interesting people. Often big groups from out of town, recently people here for a video game convention. Hostel goers come here too. The music was very typical cringey “hits”, songs everyone knows but doesn’t necessarily like.
