The Captain's Boil

Our experience at this restaurant was beyond disappointing. Despite our willingness to accommodate social distancing, the staff's attitude was rude and unhelpful. They insisted on seating our party of 10 at separate tables, positioned at ridiculous angles from each other. We understand we have to sit separate but not 90 degrees away from each other When we expressed our concerns, they callously told us to leave if we didn't like it. This level of service is unacceptable. We won't be returning.

Got a shrimp sailor seafood feast and chicken tenders. The shrimp were not de-veined nor was anything provided to help with that process.

The chicken tenders were just saddening. They seemed like frozen chicken tenders you'd find in the frozen isle at the grocery store on a bed of fries. That was somehow $15.99.

Overall a disappointing experience.

New experience. Eat without a fork, just your hands with gloves, tasty food, be careful with the spice, a good dinner or lunch.

I love the lunch special. Hard to beat that flavor and portion at that price. Slow service though.

My experience there was amazing. When i entered, i got seated quickly. I am amazed by the customer service. The staff there were very kind and patient. I was there as a hangout with family and everyone enjoyed their food. My favourite dishes there has to be the fried rice and chicken wings. The portion sizes for the price were very reasonable and pretty good. 10/10 would recommend to everyone and will definitely go again.

Me and my family went there for lunch and it was splendid. The staff were so nice and the food was great! The place felt really lively and it was a delightful experience. I will definitely come back soon!

I have eaten here before and it was nice, however this time around I ordered for pick up and the staff was very nice from phone call till I picked up the order. The food was good, lobster sandwiches was a bit dry but still very good service.

We went here for the first time today and I felt so disappointed. I think it will also be my last time coming here because I was actually not satisfied with the food. First of all it was so salty. I don’t know what you did to my king crab legs sea food boil but the sauce was extremely salty to the point where I had to order a different food which was the clams and mussels just to compare if the sauce was really supposed to be like that. When I tasted the cajun sauce of the mussel and clam it was surprisingly fine (better than the cajun sauce of the king crab). I was wondering why this happened but I didn’t bother being a Karen because there were too many people and I felt ashamed to even ask seeing how busy it was today. Please look into your salt pouring/measuring because imagine going to sea and drinking the salty water, that is what the sauce tasted like.
For having to pay $150 I must say it is not worth it. Great trial and error though. Try at your own risk.

The service was very bad. The server put my receipt on top of dirty empty and oil shells. Why she put the receipt on of top the garbage instead of handing it to me?

Doesn't pick up phone calls for to go orders (called 12x) and their online orders are unavailable for pick ups during dinner.

No bells and whistles - just straight steamed seafood in amazing sauce. Unapologetically delicious. The Cajun fries were also great especially when you dip them in the sauce.
We ordered the captain boil’s sauce for both the shrimp and the mussels with mild spicy. The sauce was amazing! And just the right amount of spiciness. They both came in plastic bags.

This time I was there they went out of the bibs so that was unfortunate.

Dinner time was very busy. Lots of take out orders too.

My girlfriend and I went there for my birthday. The food was delicious and filling and we both enjoyed it. Sorry for spilling my cup all over the table

We often came here to eat with my family food’s are great no regrets. But for the past days that we came here some waitress are not that friendly we ask for lime and soy sauce and say thank you and we ask some scissors too for our snow crabs legs we often say thank you every time we got our needs but this waitress just no words so its fine. But when the other table say something she reply very nicely and even say “you’re welcome” so she came back in our table many times but still no words everytime we say Thank you. We felt like we are not WELCOME.

We do have kids and every time we eat here kids are so messy when they eat and its normal for the 2 and 3 yrs old to get messy when they eat by themselves. Ask my husband if he gives tips everytime we eat here and he say no because he felt the same way that we are not Welcome. So this time we decided to give tips even if they treat us like this. Still the waitress didn’t even say THANK YOU. She’s so ungrateful for giving them tips. I work at the café and restaurant too even 25cents makes us happy and we are so grateful that they give us tips no matter how much is that. I won’t say that we won’t come back here because this is one of our favourite food but I hope they treat all the the customers the same way.

The staff before are so nice we offer ourselves to ask some brooms so we clean all the food on the floor that kids fall while they are eating but they are so understanding that it’s normal for kids specially when they eat by their own.

I visited to buy 2boils event, but it was only used for store meals, so I bought the basic menu and picked it up. It was good and I think I'll use it again next time

One of the best sea food restaurants in metro Vancouver but I recommend to get it for to go as it’s easier to eat at home rather in the the restaurant

This place is now my favorite restaurant I'm gonna come here on my birthday on my girlfriend's birthday and I'm bringing my grandma here on her birthday cause the service is amazing and the food is so good, My favorite part of all those you eat with your hands and that makes you feel like a kid a gun great for children and just a fun meal highly recommend.

Worst experience ever. The food was terrible and they give you the smallest chinsey portions and the service was Awful. The manager was very rude and I asked for a discount because they give you 2 little crab legs for 80$ they say it’s a pound but its not and she threatened to call the cops on me. Even though we paid. We just asked for some type of compensation. I do not recommend going here ever.

Saw the mixed reviews about this place and decided to give it try anyways. Safe to say, probably won’t be coming back.

Service is not horrible but pretty bad. We didn’t get any utensils even after all our food arrived. How am I supposed to eat without utensils? I had to ask twice for my utensils. Servers aren’t exactly friendly either. Would’ve given 4 stars if there was better service. Oh and I forgot to mention, they gave us TWO napkins. There were 4 of us and seafood is messy.

Seafood is sooo mediocre.shrimp was too soft to be peeled from the shell, crawfish was okay, their fried fish was honestly gross. The batter was thick and the fish was really salty. The mussels and the captain boils sauce was really good.

I usually order on uber eats. I just want the staff at this location to know that one Dungeness crab cost $65 before tax on this app. Dont pack the smallest crab you have when the price is that high. I ordered a pound of shrimp and one Dungeness crab which cost me close to $100. Should be good for two people right? But it wasn't. Be cognoscente of how much you are charging and what you serve. Online orders cost more, i shouldnt get less food!

Forgot part of my order, refused to deliver to my house. Food was not good at all. We ended up throwing most of it away. Very unhappy, especially on Mother’s Day. Quality is edible at best! Go to the Fish Counter, now that’s high quality.

Had a blast, definitely worth the experience. Heard about it on ads for the longest time then finally made it there last night. A little overpriced but everything was absolutely delicious and so much fun eating with your hands and just throwing it on the table.
Everyone should experience this at least once, but we will be back!

The staff ignored us the whole time we were there they were more concerned with the phones and skip orders coming in then the people in the restaurant. The food was ok way to over priced for what u get the lobster was pathetic looked like it had been sitting in water for hrs. When we wanted our bill we had to ask for it twice such bad service.

Unique dine in experience compared to most of the local restaurants, great hospitality, good portions, variety of options to pick from. They also have customer parking at the rear which is a plus on a busy evening, which is usually the case. I would recommend this place to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.

Tasty seafood without making a mess at home. Not cheap but a nice treat for the family. Eating with their supplied plastic gloves takes a tiny bit getting used to, but actually it helps a little as the seafood is HOT when it comes out. Food comes quick and service is good.

It was good but the shrimp wasn’t ** (edit, typo) deveined. Taste wise, it wasn’t worth it for the price. Wouldn’t go back.

What is not to love about fresh seafood! I drive from surrey to come here. The food is always steaming hot. The servers are very sweet. I always get mild because got is really spicy but mild lets you enjoy the flavours. I really missed this place during the pandemic and I'm happy they still stayed in business!

I came to this location twice. First time I came here, I ordered pounds of shrimps and crabs and there was literally NO sauce in the bag. Usually when I go to any location, there is sauce but this location seems like they're stingy. Not only was there no sauce, the shrimps were literally soggy. When I was peeling my shrimp, the entire shrimp came apart with the skin. I was literally wasting my entire shrimp.

The second time I went which was a year after, I decided to give it a second try. Worse decision. Literally NO sauce in any of the bags and we ordered the party one. My friend had to order more sauce and they charged us $3 for it. Not only did they charge us $3 but they refused to give us the container. The waitress said she had to pour in the sauce for me and that we weren't allowed to take the container of sauce.not sure why they charge us $3 if they can't give us the container. My husband then got food poisoning later on the night. He ordered chicken strip and fries and ended up puking all night.

By far the worse location I've ever been. And I've been to a lot of captain boils.

You guys need to either change up your chefs or just close this whole location down.

We went today with our family of 7 (2 adults and 5 children) waited 45 mins outside and was completely fine with that as I understand being busy and have a limit of 50 in the restaurant because of covid. After eating and going to pay I went to add my 75$ tip (more then 15%) on a 250$ bill and noticed they had already added 40$ for a tip with out my permission. I changed it immediately and left no tip. It is my right to add a tip if I feel fit. I am not obligated to leave a tip. When I went back to my table after paying I was approached by the server and manager and told that my transaction didn't go threw properly I was blown away and said yes it did I saw it say approved and then told that I need to leave a tip. I said no I don't it is my right to refuse to pay a tip and she repeated numerous times because we are a larger group I don't get a choice. I spend alot of money in this restaurant this month alone I have spent over 900$ I feel extremely disrespected and will. NOT BE RETURNING.

I just ordered from Captain’s Boil on ubereats and I have to say huge regrets. I got the mix and match. First of all, pretty pricey. Secondly, there were only 6 clams, the rest (9) were empty shells. Thirdly, the shrimps did not taste fresh at all and were very soggy. Even the corn and potatoes were poorly prepared and small. The sauce was good but the actual food was terrible. I was tempted to just throw it away but I paid 34$ on it (including delivery, service and taxes). I just reallly hope I don’t get food poisoning from the shrimp. Will never order from here again.

I order 1 lb of shrimp. The delivery is on a plastic bag that looks horrible. On top of that, all the shrimps were mushy, not a good flavour. Spend 25+ on a dish that is going to the trash can. When I call to complain about the problem, the person over the phone said, oh sometimes we pack it really hot on a plastic bag and they keep steaming on the bag for a while! So that means you know about the problem and you are doing absolutely nothing to fix the problem. It's clear that you don't care about your customers and you are lazy on making improvements on your service. The part that restaurants don't understand is that one dissatisfied costumer will tell the story to more of his/her friend and they will also not go the restaurant. I was expecting you own the problem and send me maybe a different product that doesn't over-boiled in a plastic bag.

One reason I chose Vancouver was to go this restaurant. I have been there many times. I was extremely disappointed, I’ve never left a review before. I had surgery which makes it so I cannot eat the spicy food I asked for non spicy ate four pieces of meat when there was at least 20 pieces. I mentioned to the waitress item was spicy and that I didn’t want any other food. Thinking they’d take it off the bill no they proceeded to tell me I ate to many I tried four because I thought that’s how it was till I tried my shrimp which wasn’t spicy. Needless to say I wasn’t happy with how I was treated and quite disappointed that the entire items price wasn’t taken off my bill. I didn’t ask for a free meal I didn’t eat many at all and told waitress as soon as she came over

As it was Eid yesterday, i wanted try some sea food. Hence, ordered 'Mix and Match' from Ubereats. It was amazing. The gravy in this dish was awesome and spice level was up to the mark.

Unfortunately, this time they forgot our drinks (which we had to ask for) and half our order which they forgot about as well. Food is good, service let us down this time.

4th visit

The food was very good. The service was not. We had to ask to place our order after different more than 10 minutes of being seated. Anytime we needed something you have to wait for a waitstaff to walk by. Literally no one checked on our table. After 20 minutes of waiting after we were done we had to call a waitstaff over and ask for the bill. I would have given 5 stars of the service was better.

This restaurant is Amazing! First time I ever ate a this type of eatery and will definitely go back. Fresh seafood right off the table getting messy and sucking up prawn brains. Good porting, selection and great flavours.

Was craving cajun flavors and decided to order through uber and i was pleasantly surprised the quality of the seafood and the food was still hot when it got delivered. Would not recommended ordering corn on the side you only get one half piece not worth the price but other then that get the chicken: it was white meat that was juicy and tender.

Today I had the worst experience with food and customer service. The shrimp today was awful, cold and served in paper. Never recommend this restaurants and will never visit it ever again. I’m disgusted by the way they addressed my issue and felt Very humiliated.

Very expensive for burnt food and a stuck up waitress with a very nasty attitude, will never bring my family there again

I rarely write reviews, but is probably the worse food quality experience I ever experienced. This was my first time going to this restaurant after all the hype & excitement around it. And I’ve never in my entire life been more disappointed with any restaurant food. Customer service was good & the food tasted like old oil, soap & aluminum. The fried rice tasted like it was leftovers from 3 days ago (they used old oil). It lacked flavour and the after taste tasted like soap. I thought it would get better with the seafood, but it was downhill from there. The waitress recommended the mixture of 3 sauces & it literally tasted like plastic, aluminium (probably old cookware). Save the $70 and go elsewhere.

Captains boil is our go-to place for a seafood feast We always order shrimp, okra and corn plus Cajun rice which were so good except the corn sometimes doesnt get mixed with the sauce very well. Overall good and will still come back?
