Food quality is always great and consistent. It's an all time favorite for my family both for take out and eat in.

If u don’t mind getting dirty and messy, this is the restaurant for u. They give u gloves to eat with. I highly recommend getting the captains boil sauce. I usually order the chicken slices. I tried the lobster poutine today and thought it was okay.

Amazing seafood place with incredible secret sauce called captains sauce. But my favourite is actually the seafood fried rice. They add lots of shrimp and other seafood to the dish and perfectly seasoned. What I like to do is cut a small hole on the bottom corner of the bag and squeeze out the sauce onto the rice and mix it up. It’s like a seafood jollof rice, you’ll have dreams of this afterwards.

Just wow. Nice vibe, friendly staff, great service and the quality of food was excellent. I only had the Captains Shrimp Fried Rice but it was delicious.

Hunger level was enough to overcome a dish that could comfortably serve more than 1 person.

Will definitely be back next I'm in Richmond.

Came here for dinner with a few colleagues and orders the Captains feast. It is A LOT of food, we didn’t even touch on the rice dishes. All of the seafood was tender and delicious except for the mussels. The mussels were chewy, over-cooked and inedible, and they ended up taking them off the bill for us. The ‘captains boil’ sauce is absolutely delicious and a must get.

All in all, the food was great and service was quick and courteous. Worth it to splurge on the biggest feast if your splitting with friends, it’s a great deal.

Just ordered the mix and match + 1 lb Shrimps. I dont think the mix and match is really 1 lb in total. It seemed really small to me. Its expensive for what it is.

Nice restaurant with the principle of seafood bags and cajun spices. Large menu with wide variety and options.
Unfortunately some of the seafoods are not cleaned properly.

It looks well seasoned but it’s really bland. The service and everything else is good but the seasoning is really not good sadly.

The worst experience, they boil the sea food in water then when the customer order they mix it with sauce. When I ate it, it taste like water as the sauce was not cooked with it. Adding to that they rip you off your money. This place is a joke, I will never go there again.

Very very good seafood restaurant. You wont be able to stop yourself from getting messy with all the delicious food being on your table.

Love love love their Dungeness crabs here. The Captain's boil special sauce mix is a bit much for me, my favorite flavor is the Cajun - the right amount of kick. The garlic and lemon pepper are slightly less flavorful. Of course, pricey so it's a once in awhile treat. I ordered delivery and it was still nice a hot in a plastic bag with extra gloves provided. Each plastic bag contains one Dungeness crab with meaty legs. I prefer corn on the cob over the potatoes/eggs as one of their regular sides since the corn absorbs the most flavor and is slightly sweet. I also tried the snow crab legs that are cheaper but I didn't like them much because of less meat and they had a flakey texture. I also ordered the clams which were quite large sized. The lobster was good too, but I preferred the Dungeness for slightly tender meat. I want to try their king crab leg some time.

Great place if you want seafood. Make a reservation on the weekends though it could get busy

Was really good if you wanted to try something different. It's a boil so dump cooked food on table and eat with hands. They supply bibs and gloves.

Great food, great service! You get these cool paper bibs and plastic gloves to eat your seafood straight from your table. The sauce is delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fried rice too!

Really good seafood restaurant the price is on the high side but as we all know seafood is always on the high side. Awesome service and the food is really good. Can't go wrong with the Captain's Bpil restaurant

Good taste. Better then the kingsway one I dknt know why. And they give you way more sause which is great. Kingsway one are so cheap with their captian broil sause I dont know why.

I prefer the Richmond one instead of the kingsway one.

The Captain's Boil is one of my favorite places to dine in. Their seafood is fresh and fully flavorful with spices. You can even smell it before open the bag! Their sauces are fantastic as well. As a customer, I will definitely come again and again.

Everything is so good and fresh. Seafood lovers must love it. Their Seafood Fried Rice was so good. For me, I love using bare hands when eating seafood. Using the plastic gloves which makes it more messy.

This seafood place is very messy but very yummy! The service was a little bit slow but the staff were friendly and tried their best. The food is ordered in pounds and paid by the varying market prices. When we went, it was $18.99 per pound of shrimp and $38.99 for a snow crab. Personally, I think that the captain's boil flavor or the cajun flavor are the best. The yam fries were also very good! But to be honest, I miss when their bibs were made of plastic and not paper: (

It was overall decent. The crab was honestly mediocre for what you pay, but they do give you a fair amount. They seemed like nice people working there. The food came fast. I really enjoyed the captain's sauce and the sides were good

I always go to richmond location, the place is clean and the staff are very friendly!:) good service as always!

Must try! Even though I am vegetarian I went with my friends and loved the add-ons I got! The corn in the garlic sauce is a MUST TRY! Cajun fries were very crunchy and yummy (a bit too spicy for me) and the garlic bread was ok.

Great seafood restaurant. The King Crab with Captain's Boil flavour is the best. The oyster also good and fresh.

Overall a positive experience. We enjoyed the head-on shrimp and the Captain’s Sauce. We ordered it medium though we found it pretty mild. The seafood fried rice was just OK was a bit on the mushy side and tasted mostly of butter but lacked salt. The clams were decent as well. We ordered the crawfish and they were really tiny and owing to the fact they tasted like freezer burn or fridge door weren’t edible. The waiter promptly let us switch them for more shrimp. I highly suggest you do not order them. Service was good and our waiter checked up on us. We originally wanted Dungeness crab but unfortunately they had sold out. I would hope a seafood focused place would serve local crab and not run out of one of their premier items.

That all said I would still highly recommend them if you avoid the crawfish.

Me and my wife always comes here atleast once a week. 10 stars rating for this restaurant. Been our favorite seafood restaurant in Richmond.
Best taste in their Captain Boil Sauce and seafoods are passionately cooked in perfection.
My wife loves all their seafoods recipe (kingCrab and lobster and shrimp) and i love the chicken slices.
Highly recommends this Particular restaurant for those seafood lovers.
Service is best and fast. And food taste really matters most. Loves it!

This was a fun messy place. The servers are helpful and attentive. I think they over sauced everything…which next time I think I will ask for sauce on the side. I wish I can pour everything out onto the table rather eating from plastic bags. If I can suggest a different style of bib (maybe something better than a paper one with paper tie straps).

Captain's Boil Richmond was the best. The food was really good.no complaints at all. The price was not bad either. I say good quality, good food, good price. If you need seafood.you cant go wrong by visiting the Captain's Boil.oh and if you do.try their Captain's rice.seafood mix.it's amazing.

The shrimp boil was great. Had the Captains boil blend medium heat. Was delicious and more than enough for a meal with the corn and rice as the sides. For $18 CAN this was a good deal. Service was fast and friendly.

Note that the boils are served in plastic bags, no plates. You dig right in with your hands. If you don't like this style of dining, you may want to go elsewhere. I enjoyed it.

Honestly it was my wife's idea to book us a reservation @ Captain's Boil as she was hoping to surprise me on our Anniversary and boy was I pleasantly surprised! As soon as we walked in to the restaurant I was already in awe of their ambience.their place is actually much bigger than it looks on the outside and the inside is nicely decorated with the trappings of what looks like the outdoor patio of the Carolinas or the Bayou! But enough of the lovely decors.as you sit down and start taking a bite of their food you'll be even more surprised with how fresh and delicious the Lobster? And other Seafood tastes in their signature Captain's Boil sauce! For context, my wife ordered the Lobster and the Seafood Feast Sailor's B which I know is quite a lot for just 2 people but boy were we treated to a taste of heaven! Highly recommended 5-Stars! Don't forget to bring your friends over and enjoy!

Great service from servers, seafood is delicious except for crawfish, but everything else is top notch.

Was a little surprised— as I’ve never been — when they served the shrimps in plastic bags. I had no idea there was no plates, but the food turned out to be decent.
Captain boil’s sauce was garlicky and very tasty, not spicy at all. The corn on the cob was a bit bland but if you dip it in the shrimp’s sauce, it was good. Oddly the sausage and the fried rice were both exceptionally amazing.

Warning: DO NOT EVER ORDER THE CRAWFISH

I took my father in law to this restaurant yesterday for lunch reservations on Fathers Day. This was our first time eating at this restaurant franchise. I ordered the shrimp with the captain boils sauce and corn (was very tasty). My father inlaw ordered the crawfish with a medium heat sauce with okra. The crawfish is very small, shell hard as stone with NO MEAT. I felt embarrassed for my father having to attempt to eat these crustaceans.

A serious note to all Captain Boil restaurants. Please remove crawfish from your menu immediately. Not only is it a waste of your money but its a waste to even fish for them as they have no purpose for your menu. They have no meat and the shell is like rock. I wish your waiter (staff) could have warned us. Ripped off aside from my shrimp order. I have never felt ripped off at a seafood restaurant in my life until now. I'll be writing reviews on every platform as a warning

Food was great and service was really good.

I ordered for Sailors Meal (A) with a pound of shrimp, large rice and fries, didn't have to wait long. I was in and out for 45mins with a heavy tummy. A must if you're in town.

Cajun fries were a bit soggy but very delicious. Also, the fried rice had so much seafood in it! Glad I ordered extra the sauce on the side. Their sauce was a bit different then when I had it a few years back, but still very yummy.

First time doing a boil and the captain sure did it right! Affordable pricing with delicious seafood.

The clams were great. Cawfish were just fine. However, the foods were toooooo expensive, i payed 68 for just one carb leg? Emmm strange

Definitely an experience to eat here. Clams, shrimp and crawfish were made well and tasted good. The portions were decent. The process is messy but enjoyable. Service was friendly and not bad at all. It’s a place to go with a group in my opinion. Would come back again to try some of their other offerings.

Was skeptical of eating here at first, but the food and service was amazing. I'm personally not a fan of seafood but this was great. Food was served fast. Would eat again.

Small portions and a rare occasion we've felt a very strong indication off racial bias in the way we were served and treated.

The menu selection is quite limited. The food was ok, but too much plastic was used, which is very unfriendly to the environment. The staff were nice and helpful.

Food was delicious! Seafood was fresh! Restaurant was nice and clean. The only thing is that I did come with my 9 month old babygirl and they didn't have any change tables. I think all restaurants should have them.

Place is big and nice decor. There aren't alot of server around so service might be a little slow. Because we have kids so we only choose garlic sauce for all of our food, which is a plus because the garlic sauce is delicious and goes very well with the fresh seafood. I have to admit I wasn't expecting much, but I am pretty impressed with the whole experience and the food. I would definitely come again.

My first experience was a great one! The seafood was served in proper portions, cooked properly with a tasty sauce. One suggestion: perhaps serve the seafood in stainless steel bowls instead of plastic bags? I don't have a problem with the bags TBH, it just makes more sense since you would still be eating from the table top anyway

I order a bowl of steam rice and I expect in a bowl

I rather go to any Chinese restaurant having seafood then eat in this place. The price the charge is a fine dining price and they serve you water in a paper cup?
They can't afford a dishwasher or what?

We came here during Thursday lunch time so the service was super quick and the sizzling plates were totally worth it. The waitress helping us out was super friendly too.

Food is really good. Came here for the All You Can Eat mussels special and they actually gave me quite a bit of mussels each order as most places that have all you can eat are flaky with the amount of food you can.

My wife's weekly routine is 3 lbs snow crabs and 1 lb of mussels with Captain's Boil medium sauce. That's her weekly indulgence. The sauce is everything and keeps her coming back weekly.

Nice decoration, friendly & knowledgeable staff, over seasoning / mediocre seafood.

Everything is great, but the mediocre food ruins the experience. My girlfriend and I have done some researches before coming to the restaurant (with the expectation that the seafood may be over seasoning), and we specifically asked the waitress to put less sauce (if possible) and easy on seasoning.

And.yes.the overall taste were still too salty for us (Shrug)

The lobster and shrimp were cooked professionally, just over seasoned.

The calamari were kinda cold / warm inside (we ate it right after it comes to the table)

The fried rice is warm/cold when it’s served onto our table, and have this really heavy greasy smell

The fried Corn and lotus were excellent! It’s for sure one of the dishes that we would order again.

Conclusion: I’m not sure if I’m interested in spending around $180 on this mediocre quality meal again. The food quality definitely need some more improvement if the restaurant is charging at this price point.

I wish there was better seafood boils in Vancouver. Had a pretty bad experience here the few times I've been here. I don't know why but everytime I come here I get Atleast 1 clam just stuffed with sand. The service here is not the best (the staff just seemed like they didn't want to be there). Price is just pricy.but I get it, seafood be expensive.
At this point I have just gave up, I now just resort to making seafood boil at home (which isn't so bad cause I can be as messy as I want and eat in the comfort of my own home).

Friendly service and a decent amount of food for the price.

I had the shrimp and the mussels and I think the shrimp is more with it as some mussels didn't open up

The sauce taste way too much of smoked sweet paprika that you never have to guess what’s in it. Not going to satisfy if your a famished minimum wage earner (if you prefer to have what they are famous for, of course). But the staff were great, they replaced the mis- heard “fried rice ” for a “french fries”. Also they have 18% gratuity that you need to brace yourself with. (Warning: they are not keen enough on birthdays)

This is my husbands favorite restraunt! It is super casual and a fun experience. If you are a vegetarian go full, there will be absolutely nothing you can eat, but the seafood lover in your life will be thrilled!

Tip: come during a weekday and come early and you'll enjoy your experience more.
The decor is appropriate for the theme. I do enjoy the ambiance. The server is friendly and did explain why the all you can eat promo wasn't available to only one person in our 8 person party. Too bad. I really wanted to try and rock that AYCE mussels promo. Oysters were tiny as compared to what i have seen here before a little disappointed with that. The shrimps were quite delicious and flavorful. Really enjoyed those. Thanks

The taste is there for their signature flavor but they upped the prices from $13/lb of shrimp or clams or mussels to $15/lb and snowcrab (the cheapest crab they have) is at$27/lb. Everything on the menu went up at least $2/lb dollars from 2018. The crab I had yesterday was not fresh, I got more shell and small legs than meat in my lb. They charge 1.75 for potato and 1.50 for half a Corn but 8 for broccoli or sausages. Pretty sure you can buy a pack for that $. Definitely overpriced. Moderate to small dinner for 2 came to $70 after tip: 1lb snowcrab 1lb shrimp 2corn (it's actually 1 small corn snapped in 2 they charge 1.50 for each half) 1wings&fries (6wings only) for $13&1 bowl of white rice. Basically 2lbs of seafood itself came to 50. Most people would enjoy 2lbs seafood each but if we ordered anymore seafood, the bill would be $100casual dining between 2.

Basically the flavor is there but you're gonna be ripped off and it's not good bang for your buck but if you're desperate for a bucket of garlicy seafood and you wanna treat yourself or a friend and apologize to your wallet later then this is the place to go. They go hardcore on the garlic but DO NOT ORDER TERIYAKI CHICKEN RICE.it's disgusting and bland and the sauce (goop) comes separately. Worth your money? No.a place for seafood lovers who want a bucket of seafood? Yes. I come here only as a desperate seafood and garlic lover.

Ps.they're Environmentally horrible: every hot lb of seafood comes in a plastic bag. Because that's exactly what we need now, is at least 1-2plastic bags discarded along with plastic gloves and plastic bib per customer. They probably toss out ~100-200plastic items per day rather than have reusable buckets/plates/bowls.

Has a variety of seafood and you have to eat with your hand. (With plastic Gloves) No spoon, fork, knives or plates. Do you want to try?

Worst experience ever! DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. I was utterly disappointed. We came here for all you can eat mussels.
1. The first round of mussels were cold and raw
2.my second round of mussels never came (3/4 of the table got their order and finished)
3. The waitress assured that she followed up on it.
4. I waited 30 min and still nothing (what is the point of all you can eat, if you are forced to sit there and watch you friends to eat.
5. Mussels were not cleaned properly
6. Forgot our orders twice
7. When asked about it, the waitress claimed the mussels came with the other bag (2 lbs in a bag for the same flavour), but all other orders at the table came in individual bags. The management was rude and won’t admit their wrong doings.
8. They messed up my orders, i ordered non spicy and they turned out to be spicy.

We went for an all you can eat New Zealand mussels promotion. The food was good, it came with three different types of sauces. The food comes in plastic bags and you eat wearing plastic gloves which makes it a little difficult to grab your drink without getting the food on the glasses. The drinks were a bit pricey and the parking can be a difficult at peak times.

Food was really good. Service started off bad, then we had a different waitress who was extremely friendly but then I think her shift ended and we didn't have anyone visit our table in about 45 mins. Went up to the front to pay and left. Will likely check these guys out again but not this location.

We walked pass this place quite a few time whenever we go shopping in the area, so we finally decided to try it since they always look busy. We were not disappointed. Yeah, the price is a bit high, but keep in mind you are eating seafood. We decided to get a combo since we couldn't decide what to eat. The food was very flavorful and came out pretty fast. The seafood was cooked perfectly. Staff was nice and friendly and was able to answer all the questions we had.

On the downside, the corn was horrible. I assume it was frozen corn on the cob since it was mushy when we got it. BTW, the pop come in a can which surprised me being it was a restaurant. This is something you would expect at a kiosk in a food court. Also, Being served food in a plastic bag took some getting use to. Seems like a lot of waste to me.

Now that we know what to expect, we will definitely be back. Anyone know why the Richmond location is not an option when you try to order online?

Unique cooking/serving style, your seafood choices boiled in sauce of your choice in a plastic cooking bag. Everything was very tasty, didn’t feel there was enough meat to the crawfish to order them again. Helpful server guided in our selections and we would certain eat here again.

Seafood boils are always fun to eat! Personally I'm not a huge fan of their crab and crab legs but the prawns are cooked very well. Recommend adding sausage to the bags as well.

The experience of having your food brought to you in plastic bags is deplorable and makes a bad foot print in the environmentally conscious society that we live in today
