The Clear Choice Plumbing & Heating

Wow done in a day couldn't be happier, my water heater died in the morning and was replace with a new one by the afternoon.

I am very pleased with the service that I received from The Clear Choice Plumbing & Heating's Jennifer (booking appts on the phone) ; Brook (initially diagnosing the problem and providing repair options) ; and Francois (assisting Brook with the subsequent repair job).

My problem was a leaking connection between the main water supply and an underground irrigation system.

I appreciated being offered the lower cost option allowing me to do the majority of the manual labour in removing vegetation and digging up the area to expose the leaking connector.

Brook and Francois thoroughly explained their approach to tackling the tricky repair, and their work was completed efficiently and effectively with the utmost professionalism - plus humour!

I would highly recommend The Clear Choice Plumbing & Heating for anyone having to deal with similar water leakage problems.

Brook was amazing! He explained everything clearly & provided us with an estimate before starting the work. He was efficient & friendly. I would highly recommend this team. Loved the text reminders for our booking & the call beforehand. This is a well run business.

Had a plumbing issue come up over the long weekend. Clear Choice was able to fit me in Tuesday morning, when most other companies were too backlogged with emergencies. They communicated with me to update me on when to expect a technician, and when Brad got here he was very professional, thorough and kind. The job we needed done was in a very tight spot and with very little room left on the original plumbing, but he somehow made it work. Pricing was super transparent, and I really appreciated that it was issue-based, rather than hourly. Will absolutely call on them again for any plumbing needs, and have already recommended them to others.

I called Clear Choice because of blocked sewer and decided to get the hot water tank done at the same time. We were given a quote for the entire job and the suggested extras (PRV, expansion tank) and (including camera inspection) and we accepted. The technician realized after using the snake & the camera (which was of course completely pointless because it's impossible to see anything due to murky water but did it anyway and there goes $150 down the drain). Then we were quoted another amount for manually excavating a 4 feet x 4 feet hole close to the area that appeared blocked and we accepted. He proceeded to snake the pipe with what appears to be a 1 1/4" in diameter spring and the water started flowing again. He then started working to add the 4" cutout and was satisfied that everything was completely fixed and cleared and was ready to refill the hole as is and call it a job well done. I was actually convinced of the opposite and wanted to run the camera. In my mind, there was no way a 1 1/4 inch snake had cleared a 4 inch pipe of the problem.

This is when I told Austin that I had already paid for a camera service to assess and visually see what the problem was and I was requesting for it to be done, at which point he was irritated and said it would not be done for free. I called the Clear Choice to explain the situation and 15 minutes later his boss or manager called him and I was told by Austin that I would have to pay for another camera service fee so I had to accept the extra fee for less 10 minutes worth of camera work.

This is when Austin finally realized that the snake work he had previously done only cut about 1 1/2" round channel through the roughly 2 feet in length root system that was blocking the 4" pipe so the problem wasn't properly fixed at all. He then proceeded to run the snake again but with a different and bigger head to chew through the roots system. He did not run the camera through the pipe after clearing the roots.

Brook called and left me a message to call him back but I wanted to wait until I had all the facts regarding the blockage before returning the call.

August 6th

When receiving my DS520 camera Sunday I ran it through the 4" cut out only to find out that although Austin had cut through the first blockage (10 feet away), the sewer pipe was still 90% blocked 20 feet further, about 10 inches from the city sewer main. So we placed a call to Saanich public works and they came Wednesday to assess, and again today (August 9th) to unplug the pipe. They will be returning to possibly re-line or replace the small section of the pipe needing attention.

Thursday August 9th - 5 STARS review update

So today I finally called Brook back. We had a very pleasant conversation and were able to discuss about what actually transpired with his technician during this event and how to prevent it from happening in the future.

All I can now say is that Clear Choice is extremely dedicated to their clients and will not let any situations unresolved, and they make good on their claim to be the "Clear Choice". A refund for some of the charges is also being reimbursed as I'm writing this update.

Now this is the type of professionalism and understanding we all expect from a contractor. And I assure you that I will have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever calling Clear Choice back for any plumbing related issues that may occur in the future.

Brook replaced a failed overflow tank quickly and provided good value for the service. This is the fourth time I've used Clear Choice and I highly recommend their service.

It was the day before the start of a Stat holiday and our water tank quit working. I called Clear Choice and was told they were heavily booked for that day but would do their best to help us otherwise we would have to wait until Tuesday. To my surprise they called back a couple of hours later and informed me that a plumber was available. Pete arrived as stated assessed the situation and quickly removed the old gas water heater and installed a new one. He made the necessary changes to meet the new code.

Clear Choice was a very positive experience. Pete, Jennifer and all of their staff that we delt with were very thoughtful and professional in our dealings with them. We have never dealt with a company that was so well organized before. A big thank you to all of them!

All aspects of the service was very good. From the first phone call, to the email/ text follow up, to appointment confirmation, to Tyler’s arrival.

Then the next wave of great service rolled in. Happy friendly staff, quick and clear quote options, self assured independent work - including a trip off site for an extra part, then re-assembly and testing, follow up phone call, photos and video clip.

Brad was very professional and friendly. He explained everything and did a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend him and Clear Choice Plumbing. However I did find it a little expensive for a toilet install.

Austin was professional, knowledgeable, open and courteous. It was an absolute pleasure having him provide high quality service. His service was beyond reproach and reflects well on the company.

Awesome experience with The Clear Choice Plumbing & Heating. 2 days after we moved into our new home, our laundry room flooded when we drained the bathtub. They were able to get Tyler in to take a look right away, and found we had major issues with our cast iron sewer line. Within days, it was completely replaced!

Everyone involved was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Tyler was clear, gave us multiple options, and was happy to take our calls & questions when trying to figure out what to do. Brook and Brad did a great job on the actual repair, and were very conscientious, making sure we understood what they were doing, and that we had usable plumbing in-between work days. Jennifer in the office made the whole process super easy, and was patient with us as we tried to figure out our insurance. An excellent team all around.

On top of the great work and timely service, it meant a lot that everyone appreciated how stressful this situation was for us. Having just moved in, this empathy went a long way.

Had a leak under my bathroom sink due to a coupling finally wearing down over time. Went through ClearChoices online form, they got back to me bright and early next day with same day availability!

Tyler was on time and very professional. Very efficient work while being very friendly! This is my second time using ClearChoice for plumbing issues at my home and they've been amazing every time.
