I've been coming here since 2019 and I only wish I had learned about it sooner. It's a rare marriage of introspection and natural beauty. The staff are part of what makes this place special. I've been up late talking to staff about their lives everytime I've been here

My partner and I went to the Couples Alive retreat at The Haven in April 2022. We were offered simple yet powerful tools through group and couple-focused work. The facilitators were grounded, practical, humble and very accessible - no "woo-woo" stuff. We were supported to examine how we communicate and set boundaries, how we fall into power-struggles, and we were provided effective ways of stepping out of habitual patterns of relating. Most of all, I walked away with a deeper sense of compassion for myself and my partner - which has renewed my capacity to show up in our relationship with both curiosity and humility. Also, the food.so unbelievably delicious. I would recommend The Haven to ANYONE.

I attend a program there every summer and it's awesome. The place is dope and the program is basically a 10/10.

Recently my brother, Todd Naylor, who is a quadriplegic, my mother, Denise Naylor, 95 years old with dementia, and myself, Lisa Naylor Barker, needed a place to get away to while a heat pump was installed in their home in Maple Bay.
With short notice, I was able to make a reservation at the Haven for a wheelchair accessible suite suitable for my brother to use. My brother’s accident happened 37 years ago and since that time has never been on a vacation.
So began the Naylor getaway adventure! I have been fortunate to have visited the Haven years ago, but this was my mother and brother’s first visit to Gabriola.
The 2 days we spent at the Haven was truly magical. They spent every moment they could on the sun deck watching the ocean and breathing in the wonderful air. It’s hard to describe how happy I was just to see my family so relaxed and entranced with the Haven. Mom counted geese and ferries. There was always people and dogs on the beach and kayakers on the water. There never was a dull moment passing by our view. I love to see how these 2 special people enjoy the simple things so much!
Life moves along quickly but the time we spent together at the Haven will remain in my memory as one of the most special of times. The Haven, as ever, provided me with a safe, peaceful place to be with my family.
The staff were so welcoming and helpful in getting all the items needed to make everyone comfortable.

After decades being an unconscious, dysfunctional victim, my Haven experiences in the early 1990's became the basis of my embracing choice and embracing life.
The venue, accommodation, food, staff, interns, facilitators, participants and ultimately the programs contributed to my transformation and are part of my self-awareness.lasting change (most days)!

The Come Alive was a true 'defibrillation' for me - I was able to gain access to my emotions and body-felt experience after being numb and 'in my head' for many years prior. This was over three years ago, and the transformation I experienced has enabled me to grow exponentially, both personally and professionally. I recommend it to anyone seeking more for their overall quality of life.
