The MAQ Hotel

The MAQ is a coolly funky renovated older hotel with a great relaxed vibe. Within the hotel is a sunny and sheltered courtyard off the lobby and The MAQ Bierhaus restaurant (excellent burgers and tuna rolls), an in house liquor store, and an old school pub. The MAQ has a great mash-up of history and modern furniture/art with a cool west coast feel to it. It's a great base camp or launch pad for exploring Tofino and its many activities right outside the door. We would highly recommend The MAQ (our adult kids stayed there during a recent family reunion) with the rest of our crew at the nearby Duffin Cove hotel (same great owners).

We were very happy and pleasantly surprised with the comfortable beds, the nice service and the delicious food and coffee. We were definitely come back again.

The Maq has a laid back almost European hostel vibe. The staff are PHENOMENAL, going above and beyond to be helpful. Everything you could possibly need as far as amenities and excursions are a stones throw in distance. Carissa, of the front desk, is incredibly helpful. Thanks to all for the lovely experience.

Nice modern hotel, clean rooms.
Unfortunately very limited in terms of facilities, no catering facilities open on Sundays after 2.30 pm in the lounge. Not even in the form of vending machines or the like.

Great location, just off the harbour, short walk to everything. Large rooms with lots of features. Staff were all very friendly but mainly offsite as everything is done via text or email. It was nice there was parking for free. Room was hot as there was no A/C, but it was exceptionally hot outside. Room door locks need upgrading, didn't feel safe leaving valuables in there with the flimsy handle lock. Hotel had a great cafe for coffee and breakfast. The bear bierhaus was great for evening drinks and food. Definitely recommend but hopefully it's not hot outside when you visit.

Stayed for a few nights as a group of 2, service, rooms and amenities were lovely! The room was very clean and cozy with a modern bathroom, and was right down the hall from the hotel café (which had amazing coffee). Our room backed onto the bierhaus patio for a lower rate, and a noise machine was thoughtfully included in our room to compensate! As for the bierhaus itself, they had a very cute layout and a great menu:) I would definitely recommend to anyone travelling as a smaller group (as I can only speak to our experience) 6/5 stars!

Great hotel right in the heart of Tofino. Beautiful views & perfect hotel for evening gatherings with friends. Love the staff at the MAQ — so friendly and professional! I left my purse there on checkout day and it was returned with everything, thank you!

The MAQ is a great economy hotel. The building is lovely, decoration is tasteful, everything is clean, and the staff are absolutely lovely. The trade-off is amenities: the regular rooms lack bathtubs, kettles, microwaves, hot plates, coffee makers, or even a mini fridge (though rooms are provided with coolers, and you get free ice at the downstairs liquor store).

Very good food! Our plans fell through and we decided to give it a go and were very much pleased with the decision.

A recently updated hotel right in town. My room was small but very clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. There's a cafe downstairs and a pub attached as well as a small liquor store. There's an unpaved parking lot out back with quite a bit of space to accommodate larger vehicles, or vehicles with trailers. Very close to restaurants in town.

Incredible spot to stop for coffee, charge your phone or get some work done on your laptop. Super friendly staff!
