The Parkside Hotel & Spa

No air-conditioning in rooms. And although there are 2 bathrooms in my 2 bedroom suite, the toilet in the master bedroom has no door, which is weird. Quite pricey

The Parkside is situated in a great location close to everything you would want or need, but still in a quiet and tranquil part of the city. The rooms are clean, spacious, and I loved the spa products in the rooms available for purchase (which were so popular that they unfortunately sold out before I checked out). The amenities (large pool, hot tub, complimentary bike rentals and free loaner umbrellas) are an added bonus.
My one caveat when booking is to be aware of the added hotel fees that are imposed by the local government, not the hotel itself. It added quite a bit to the original quote upon check out.
Otherwise, we would highly recommend a stay here when you visit Victoria.

I had a very memorable experience at the Parkside Hotel Spa. Josephina, at the front desk, had a warmth and presence that was palpable. Erin, who offered me a deep tissue massage, was very attentive to my requests and left me feeling renewed, relaxed, open-hearted, and grounded. Her tremendous skills speak for themselves. I would highly recommend this spa for a peaceful and beautiful experience.

Very disappointed, I was offered a complimentary upgrade by the guest services representative a few months ago, due to an issue on my previous visit.for the second time I was put off by the front desk staff. I arrived yesterday from the airport at noon, even though I was allowed to check in to a regular room at that time, I was told I'd have to wait 4 hours to check in to the upgrade. After a long flight and an anticipated early rise I took the regular room.

This hotel surprised me. I love their suites very spacious and clean. You have pretty much everything that you might need during your stay. I love the complimentary washer and dryer that's in the room. Also their lobby is the best. So beautiful. Location of this hotel is also great.

Friendly staff, great location and amenities but the cleanliness was an issue for me. The room was not clean, it was more tidied up. The couch looked like it hasn't been properly cleaned for a long time, there was dirt behind the tub and mold on the corners. The room didnt smell good or freshly cleaned. Fresh sheets yes but that's about it. I only stayed for one night but noticed the difference straight away. There was no AC, the water boiler and coffee machine were dirty and the fridge smelled really bad.

This has become our place of choice to stay at while in Victoria. This year we brought our 2 children and booked the 2bdr suite. We got an absolutely stunning 6th floor unit with beautiful views of the Olympic Mountains and the historic buildings that surround the hotel. Our kids love Victoria as much as my wife and I and they especially love the Parkside because of the Koy Pond and water features. Our only downside this year was that the pool was closed for maintenance while we were visiting, but the staff were kind enough to arrange use of the Empress Hotel swimming pool which was a neat experience.

This used to be our go to place to stay in Victoria because of the pet friendly rooms and one bedroom suites. We haven't been here in over 2 years because of the pandemic but unfortunately upon our return have realized how dated the rooms now seem.

We initially got put in an interior room overlooking the fish pond inside the lobby. Not only was it incredibly dark but it had no exterior windows and the balcony was sitting overlooking the hotel guests. The front desk were fortunately able to move us to a corner suite which had natural light.

The thermostats didn't work and the first night was unbearably hot (in Feb). The second night we made sure to open all available windows but despite setting the thermostat to 18 the heating continued to pump out. Would hate to stay here in the summer as there is no air conditioning. Rooms feel dated and lower floors are less appealing, would make sure you don't get placed in an interior room. Will try a new place next time we visit Victoria.

Update May 2022- I was contacted by the Parkside and enjoyed a night there at the end of April. I must have been unlucky with the room selection previously as we were put in a really nice and bright corner suite. The latest update is now all rooms have Chromecasts hooked up to the TV which is a great feature to stream Netflix and YouTube from our own devices, a much needed upgrade to the limited cable services. This time around as well our dog had been setup with a dog bed and bowls, something that we hadn't been greeted with on previous stays. If all the rooms were like this I wouldn't hesitate to rate 5 stars, I will definitely try to book corner suites in the future and appreciate the Parkside reaching out to me after the issues with my last stay.

Beautiful atrium, clean updated rooms, great swimming pool and gym. Great place to stay if you’re visiting from out of town and want to treat yourself, but would not recommend for people who travel frequently for work.

Reached there all tired and wanted to go to hot tub and staff is saying it is under maintenance and if we want to use one we have to go to empress which is 500m walk from hotel. Walk is fine but how can you expect someone to come back after hot tub and sauna in cold rainy weather. The staff doesn’t bother to offer parking at empress saying it is not in our control. Such a waste of money. I bet they are still advertising sauna and pool on their website.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough! The staff were so incredble and accomodating, the rooms were gorgeous and the rooftop gardens were an added bonus. I stayed during the recent heatwave and did not find the upper rooms hot at all. The preferred view room gave me views of the harbour and legislature building lit up at night. Stay here, you won't regret it!

Where do I begin? The atmosphere? The professionalism? The relaxation? It was all 5/5! I truly enjoyed being able to unwind in a stress free environment. I was treated so well, I felt that they valued my time and wanted it to as enjoyable for me, as I was hoping it would be. Parkside spa is highly recommended, and I am a spa therapist myself so I can be hard to please. They did not disappoint!

I first stayed at The Parkside, on a whim, 7 years ago—and I was hooked. Between the fully furnished sweets, lobby cafe, amazing staff, wonderful amenities, and primo location, I see no reason to stay at any other hotel in Victoria.

Great room. I got the luxury suite room on sale and it's got laundry machine, stove, micro wave, dish washer, blender etc.it's got balcony and table where you can eat. The only thing is that the kitchen wares are a bit dirty. Also, the laundry machine is awful. Be careful using it. You might shrink your cloths. Washing and drying cycle will take 3+ hrs depending on the load. Lastly, you can reserve the pool or the gym for an hour. Gym itself is clean but they bailed on me once. I waited 20mins for the person to let me in and just called it a night. Everyone makes a mistakes. I let it go the first time and it didn't happen again. Hotel also provided complimentary laundry detergent which was another plus. I plan to visit this hotel to use my $50 off spa for later on to get massage service.

The location is great, parking was included to the hotel price, BINGO! We are able to walk to moat of the places. They have no complimentary breakfast but there is coffee shoo right at the hotel. They also offer free bike rents which was amazing considering that hotel is right near the Beacon Hill Park which is beautiful! We were also able to enjoy the swimming pool and hot tub. Overall experience was great and I recommend this place. We have booked it via BC ferries and got a good deal for a total price of hotel and ferry

This hotel far exceeded my expectations. These are not rooms but rather suites. Beautifully appointed and well located.
Service was fast and friendly and the value for money was exceptional. Will definitely be returning.
