Celebrated our first anniversary here, and the two-month advance booking was absolutely worth the wait! Their steak and lobster were of exceptional quality, though the prices were on the higher side. The service was top-notch, and they even surprised us with a free dessert!

The happy hour oysters at The Roof at Black & Blue were an absolute delight. They were incredibly fresh, making for a perfect appetizer or snack. The ambiance and view from The Roof added to the overall experience, creating a memorable and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend stopping by during their happy hour to savor these fantastic oysters.

My friends and I went to The roof at black and blue to celebrate Easter. The ambience and even the servers were good. Our group ordered oysters, flat bread and a beef dish. I was the only one that order blackened ahi tuna and everything was going well until i started vomiting through the entire night. No one else had problem as they didn’t have it. I was the only one among my friends ordered this dish.
The edges of the tuna was cooked but the insides were raw like i could taste the rawness of the fish. I have had the blackened tuna before from other restaurants and this was the first time. I had a upset stomach and was puking for 3 days.
The manger called and said they talked to the chef and couldn’t find any problem it seems. This experience scarred me and i dont think i will ever go back.

Attached is the picture of the dish, you can clearly see how raw the center of the fish is.

Sorry to say I make a better steak in the oven.and then sear in butter in pan in high heat.but the atmosphere is good. Nice date place.

Best meal I have ever had. Fantastic service. Wonderful atmosphere.

If you’re in Vancouver and you want a fantastic experience and have some money to burn, go here. Would give more than 5 stars if i could.

The manager of this restaurant was very unfriendly.

1️We brought a service dog and they checked service dog Id. After that the waiter said everything is good and free to come in, but the restaurant manager disagreed and said the restaurant has strict food requirements. We still cooperated and do what they ask us to do.

2️We also found hair on the prawn during the meal.

3️Before we prepare to place an order, I asked waiter if we could change the sit to the window sit, the waiter said yes. But the manager rejected. He said it was already reserved (I didn’t get that. I think first come first serve). I think the manager soooooo mean. Even we finished the dinner there still No one came to the window sit.

The manager said he from Filipino. He name is DK

I had family visiting from out of town and went for dinner here for a special occasion and the staff here really went above and beyond, our server was amazing and the food was great, our favourite was the steaks, (we tried a few cuts and they were all tender and cooked perfectly), and the Mac and cheese, all the sides are for sharing so we got to try quite a few, and for dessert we had the butter cake, it was a great end to our meal. It was a cold and rainy night but next to the fire was nice a warm and the ambiance was unbeatable. I want to note also our server was a true professional, she really made the night for us, we will definitely be back soon!

Had such an amazing time here on a trip to Vancouver from Seattle! We stopped by for happy hour in the afternoon on a Saturday and we’re seated right away. Every staff we encountered was welcoming and accommodating, but our server Sasha stole the show! Sasha was extremely attentive, kind and made our experience even more incredible. The vibe is impeccable, and the food is top notch (please try the Mac & Cheese sticks). If we lived in Vancouver, there is no doubt we would be regulars here, learning Sasha’s schedule to be served by him every time!

I like the atmosphere here, always good vibes around. We tried dine out 2023, the appetizer I chose scallops and bacon, I liked it. The main steak I ordered as medium rare, inside was perfect, but bit overcooked outside for me…. It was hard. The sauce was good as well the side. I wish I had a more variety of salad thou. The dessert crème brûlée was bit sweet to me. Overall, it was good, but not the best this year.

My husband and I came here for our 1st anniversary last night.
We had an amazing time!
Our waiter, Ryan, really made the whole experience. He was so professional, friendly, and patient. He explained the menu to us is great detail, and he even brought out all the different steaks to choose from and explained them to us at our table. I’ve really never had such exceptional service.
The food was great, the crispy cauliflower was delicious and the steaks were some of the best I’ve ever eaten.
When we mentioned we wanted to share, Ryan even made sure our steaks were cut up on a nice platter for us to share.
Just all around great experience and maybe this will be our anniversary spot!

Sunday 3 course dinner salad to start prime rib main and desert pay 6 dollars extra for any desert you want comes with cheese cake I ordered butter cream cake was delicious highly recommended

This restaurant was by far the best I have ever been too! The steaks are to die for, Waygu specifically was amazing! The staff here are incredibly accommodating and generous! Will be back again!

Our waitress was amazing, but the rest, not so much.

We had made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for a birthday. Party of 5. Since we're meeting at the beginning of September, we figured we would take advance of the last little bit of warmth we had in Vancouver.

Our party had arrived a few minutes before us and had already been seated at a table on the rooftop. We (bf and I) were directed to the top floor, and there, we would be greeted by a hostess and directed to our party.

We got out of the elevator and no one was at the upstairs reception to greet us. Around 4 - 5 minutes passed by and still no one. At one point, another couple had come out from the dining area and thought we were waiting for it elevator to leave. Eventually, the hostess had come out to greet us and led us to our group and table. To our disappointment, our table was in the darkest corner of the restaurant with very little lighting (an electric tea candle, and some fairy lights hanging from the ceiling). The chairs seemed like plastic lawn chairs that were extremely uncomfortable. We eventually placed our order.

The Kate's salad and garlic prawn skillet had arrived first. The server asked if we would like some fresh pepper on our food, but honestly, it was so dark, we're not sure if pepper was actually added to our food as we couldn't see. Salad was alright, nothing special. The prawns, however, were definitely frozen from the flavour and texture.

We asked our waitress to see if there was any way we would be able to be moved to another table because we weren't even able to see what we were eating. There were two additional tables available, one by the candle wall, and another booth. She kindly toId us she would speak with her manager. The manager then came to our table to let us know that both tables were called for by reservations. When asked why we were not given the option for the other two tables, the manager had replied saying that the two tables were reserved by (what he thinks) $500 deposit at the time of booking (he wasn't even entirely sure). We were not given the option to reserve a better table at the time of booking, otherwise we would've. Our bill would've easily reached $500 given there were 5 of us.

When our main platter came, the porterhouse steak was tough and stringy, the lobster tail was overcooked and rubbery, the truffle fries have no truffle flavouring, the mac and cheese sticks were overseasoned from the amount and quality of cheese used, the brussel sprouts were also acidic. The quality of food was just horrendous and not worth the amount of money that they're looking to charge.

Nothing brought to the table warrants another visit.

Pros: service and ambiance was good along with the crispy cauliflower.

Cons: The rest of the food was mediocre. The halibut was overcooked and bland, oysters were low-grade but charged as a premium oyster. Truffle fries were also lacking taste.

Overall I just wouldn't recommend if you're looking for tasty food.

Our experience here was average at best. We asked to get the booth beside us instead of our original table and were told it was booked for another reservation. Our first table had a mouse running behind it so we got switched to the booth that ‘was reserved’. We had to ask a couple times for the drinks we ordered to come out. Our server did not have the greatest attitude and the toilets in the bathrooms were dirty. Another mouse ran over my friends foot and the server was not bothered at all. Would never come again.

The best bartenders in town. Super nice friendly people. I tried so many different cocktails. They are so enthusiastic of their job.
