The Royal Tandoor

We went to the this restaurant but the food service was worsen like food. We ordered chicken firstly they didn’t even served on time and were not sure about it that we have ordered it or not. Secondly we ordered food accordingly the veggies quantity so we have to wait for it our rest food was not fresh that reduced its overall taste. Talking about the chicken its colour was red like some colour have been added to it and its taste was not good.we also ordered paneer pakoras but one can feel through the taste that oil was not properly heated before making them. Overall not good experience in indian food in victoria.

Best food in Victoria. Bhanu took care of me and my family very wéll, very kind and gentlemen personality he had. Will definitely come back because of him. Happy customer

Consistently one of my favourite Indian restaurants on the south island. Occasionally a dish won’t be that great, but 9/10 times this place satisfies my tastebuds, and has me coming back for more.

We always order take out and it’s always fresh and good, we order the butter chicken and palak paneer, it comes with rice. It’s delicious

Charged me $50 for a few samosas, and charged $15 just for chutney. Stay away. Unprofessional people.

Spoons are so dirty not washed properly.
They should get some more staff nobody was there to get order. Service is really poor. Every time we have to go and give them order on reception

I ordered stuffed naan (aloo and onion) with pickle and butter on doordash but instead i got plain kulcha that is half-burnt. Didn’t expected that. It was my first time ordering from this restaurant.

My family had been ordering take out here since the pandemic started. The quality of food was on and off. It can really be good on occasions and also bad. But the good usually outweighs the cons. I was extremely disappointed with the food quality today. We ordered bhindi masala, aloo gobi, veggie vindaloo, veggie khorma and butter chicken. It tasted funny, old and over cooked. The okra /ladyfingers was extremely salty and spicy when we told them very, very mild. I wish we dined in and we probably would have received better food and given us fresh food. It looked like leftovers. All the veggies were disintegrating. I kid you not. We usually do not have leftovers but today there were plenty of it. I would think twice in ordering food here again after this unfortunate experience. The quality just went downhill. The price doesn’t justify the flavours. Wasted $$ Check out the photos.

I would give no stars if I could. I ordered mild food and they made my food super spicy. Once I told them it was too spicy they told me that it surely wasn’t and continued to argue with me. I paid $82 for what was the worst Indian food I have had in Victoria. What made it worse was the bad attitude the staff had towards me. I won’t be coming back and I advise you to beware of this Indian joint because of the poor quality of food and the attitude of the staff.

Their lamb korma is super delic! Also I find the lamb meat itself is better than the other Indian places I’ve been.

I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled this evening after having Royal Tandoor. Spices/flavoring was incredible. Highly recommended.

Have ordered four meals via takeout (Lamb, chicken, 2 veggie plus naan), they were all really good and on time. Customer service has been exceptional - I'll keep coming back.

This is THE place for Indian cuisine.
Fantastic food, decent price and large portions.
The chicken pakora is to die for fresh big pieces.

Edit: unfortunately November 17th 2022 I had a completely different experience as the Owner was Not there and my food was terrible worthy of maybe 1.walked out won't be back ‍️.
Very apparent that the people that left negative reviews had this other guy cooking their meals.

Last minute, great biryani by the way! One of the best biryanis I had! Nice polite service! Highly recommend to those late night shifters!

We recently got food catered from them for a family event and everyone loved it. Food was tasty, fresh and good quantity at a very reasonable rate. Would definitely recommend them.

I love everything about this location food is always fresh and hot. The staff is friendly and helpful. Never had an issue it's always been good and I've ordered from this particular location at least 10 times. Samosas are the best in town. You also have to try the stuffed Naan.

I ordered the lamb korma.
It was a little spicy at medium… They were super lovely and made remade me a mild… Very delicious, very kind and efficient service. Look forward to trying more from here!

They give you a LOT of meat in the curry. The curry itself I found to be grainy and almost dry. The rice and naan are fine if flavourless. I have no problem with it overall, but I don't think I'd return just because there are a lot of better options in Victoria.

Very small portion sizes. I called them to see if it was maybe a mistake on the order size. “Nope, that’s a normal meal for 2 people”. False.

They don't deliver online so was disappointed when they didnt show up.then an hour after delivery time asked me to pick it up. Food was good

Got burned using their online ordering. Read the fine print carefully, cause the restaurant staff definitely do not offer ANY help with it. The flavours in the food were delicious though, thankfully, and very plentiful. The all-male front staff were pretty dismissive of me, and they made me feel totally uncared for as a customer. It was so creepy I actually have no desire to ever return.

I ordered their butter chicken and got garlic naan and butter naan as well. The food was fantastic. I have trouble when it comes to really spicy food, so I asked them to make it less spicy, and they did a great job - it was perfect! Portion sizing was great as well for one person. If you're ordering for a group, expect to buy more: I'd say each dish feeds about one person or maybe two if you eat less, but I was quite hungry and got through all of the butter chicken and rice along with one and a half orders of the naan. The pricing is on the expensive side for sure, but comparable to my favourite Indian food place I used to go to in my hometown. It's good food and you get what you pay for.don't expect McDonald's prices for meals that are 5x better quality than McDonald's. Would absolutely recommend these folks and I definitely see myself ordering here again. Really liked it.

Not impressed 105.45 and half of this is rice. Small portions butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, chicken Tika Masada, this is all rice definitely won't be ordering from you again

Ordered takeout.biryani was not very good compared to other places especually for $14. My curry was very dry barely any sauce amd small portion for $15. Naan was pretty dry: (a little disspointing for a $50 meal unfortunately.

Did a quick swing in on the way home from work today to try out their butter chicken. I was not disappointed! Decent size portion for one meal and very tasty. The butter Naan bread was piping hot and a large portion. Really enjoyed.

I called and asked if they had combos, they said they had a combo for 4-5 people. We ordered it with 2 extra naan bread. Came to $56. When we got home, i was very surprised, the portions were REALLY small. Barely any food at all after dishing it out, 2 small pieces of butter chicken for each of us, barely any rice, we each got a tiny tiny scoop of rice. Also, we ordered 2 extra naan bread and there was still not enough for 4-5 people. NO way is this a dinner for 4-5, i would say 2-3 and $56 what rip off. We were all hungry after. Hate to leave a bad review but was not happy at all. Found a black 1 foot piece of zig zagged hair in the chick pea dish. Although the food was really good, would not order from here again.

Though they have quality but they don't serve that quality when it comes to take out order. I ordered food from them and in the evening I end up regretting my choice to buy from them. It hurts more when you have to eat burnt naans after a long day at work.

This is the nearest Indian restaurant to me and I order from here quite often. The food is always very good and warm.
I’ve tried a lot of curries from here and I think the quantity for me is good enough to last for 2 meals. Not if I’m very hungry. Then I can have it all in one meal.

I placed an order for take out on Friday night and was told that our food would be ready in approximately 30 minutes. 1 hour and 45 minutes later, our food was ready. Once we opened it at home we noticed that we were missing one of our three dishes. We phoned the restaurant and were told we would have to come back and pick it up. After the long wait, and our baby now asleep, that wasn't in the cards for us and we just asked for a refund or a credit. The person we were speaking with told us that no one was there who could authorize a refund/credit, and that someone [one of the two owners] would call us later to follow up. We provided our contact info again and outlined the details of our order to help with the call back.we're still waiting on that phone call 4 days later.

Love the lunch buffet. Great naan bread made fresh and not sitting in the warmer. Butter chicken is a staple, but if you are lucky you may get goat or lamb curry. Chai tea included. Kids 8 and under are free for the buffet. This is huge for me since mine don't eat much here. I can take them along and feed them before or after if I need to.

Good choice for buffet lunch. Ingredients appear high quality and nice range of dishes, enough for vegetarians. Parking can be tight.

Great value for the lunch buffet. Flavourful and fresh dishes, the kadhi pakora was delicious. For us, a great neighbourhood destination.

Went in to pick up a order of food, walked in fellow at counter never said hello or acknowledged i was there witch is fine but the younger girl came out from the back not sure if she was about to talk to me because she just stared at me then rudely said yeah? As in yeah what? No hello, no head nod nothing, said i was picking up food, she paused and angrily asked for my name, And was just blatantly obvious she had 0 customer service skills, and seemed angry i was even in there, I walked out of the door not giving her my money

The best samosa I've had since moving to the west coast. Their food is so well spiced and the flavours are balanced.

Went there in the afternoon, no patrons in restaurant yet. Waited for about 40 minutes after being told it would be 10-15 minutes wait. Ordered 3 starters, 2 were very soggy, 3rd, the samosas which were delicious. Ordered a lamb curry which tasted more like beef, very tough either way. Ordered Naan bread-ok. Wont be going back.

Fairly bland buffet. Few choices, with significantly more sauce than chicken. Sad looking salad bar. Mediocre service. My table was dirty and the staff didn't even bother to clean it even though it was visibly dirty. Atmosphere leaves something to be desired.

WOW! I went to this restaurant yesterday for dinner and I am completely blown away at how delicious and authentic the indian food was. I live pretty close by and when I saw the new signage (the royal tandoor) I was super excited to know a new restaurant was opening up. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The restaurant is clean, newly renovated I believe, it has a pleasant atmosphere. I had the butter chicken, naan, paneer, rice and my husband had the chicken tandoor, saag, samosas and naan. Oh my goodness, it was the best indian food I have had in Victoria. We're from Vancouver and we've been to numerous indian restaurants as I love indian food; however, I must say this restaurant by far is exceptionally delicious. The prices are reasonable and its safe to say this is my new official favourite indian restaurant in Victoria. A MUST TRY!

I am so glad that they have opened up here. New owners (late 2018) and now a very nice sit-in restaurant. The food is very good, especially the goat curry. Treat yourself to the lunch buffet.

Recently re-opened under new ownership I am told. Tried today for the lunch buffet. Selection was not overly large.but quality was excellent. Both butter Chicken and Beef curry were as good (or better) than any we have tasted on the island. Friendly staff (owners?) and clean, uncluttered decor. Naan included with lunch buffet as well as numerous hot and cold sides. Will definitely return!

Had a chance to check out this revamped restaurant today and WOW! What amazing butter chicken this place has. I can't wait to try out some other dishes now! Apparently just opened a few days ago.

I am absolutely amazed at this new restaurant. I believe it just opened a couple weeks ago. Very flavourful food, fast service, friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Good customer service, delicious food. Watched my roommate eat her butter chicken so fast and so eagerly she temporarily put herself in a food coma. So all in all good experience.

Reduced the quantity and increased prices out of proportion.taste also average. The previous owners were friendly, gave good quantity and taste was great.

This place is no longer called Gobind.it’s now the royal tandoor or something along those lines. Food used to be amazing, now it is horrible. Curries and butter chicken are overly salty with no taste or spices. Tawa roti do not seem to be house made, looks like stuff bought from wal-mart and re-heated - very thin, tortilla like, NOT authentic. Overpriced and not enjoyable, will not be eating here again. Very disappointed.
