The Soup Meister's Nephew

We tried one of their frozen soups, Chili con carne, and we can’t wait to go back for more:) The soup warmed well and tasted fresh, natural, beautifully spiced. The meat in it was plentiful and delicious. We are eager to try their selection of chowders, which were not available the day we were there. Will update when we do!

This is my favorite soup shop since I moved to Canada. I finally come to get their broccoli chedder soup after the nephew take over the business. It was my favorite soup before the Meister passed away.
I heat up it for dinner and taste it before serving my toddler.
They added hot sauce in broccoli cheddar soup that I had never tasted before.
It's not kids friendly soup like before.so sad.

Excellent home-made and wholesome soup with nice rolls. Enjoyed the potato leek (vegan) and German lentil with a good amount of sausage in! Lovely staff and soup comes out hot.

I visited during lunch time. This is a soup shop inside the market. This is probably the cheapest place to eat in this area. There was a line, but there wasn't a long wait.

I chose pumpkin soup. It was a simple but very delicious soup.

I am so glad The Soup Meister's Nephew is carrying on Ralph's legacy. I have noticed the price increases, but that's to be expected given recent inflation.

I will say, I do find the frozen/fridge soups to be portioned inconsistently. I understand that they are portioned by hand but for the price, I expect that it comes with a somewhat consistent amount of ingredients - especially when it comes to the meat and noodles. I got two large containers of frozen Italian wedding soup - one was packed with noodles, meatballs, celery/onion and was enough for two full portions. The second was so disappointing and seriously lacking in the noodle/veg department. I ended up only getting one hearty portion because it was mostly broth.

Definitely some room for improvement there and I hope they do!:)

We stopped in for a bowl of soup today. On the menu was clam chowder and beef noodle soup. We both had the Manhatten Clam Chowder and it was delicious! Highly recommend visiting this place.

Sadly, the soup we bought tonight just didnt cut it. I used to buy soup from his uncle so many times and raved about the size of chunks of chicken (in this case, chicken noodle soup). Tonight our soup, according to my husband, should be called carrot noodle soup. It was good, but comparing it to the soups of earlier days, not so great. Honestly, I’d rather pay more for a good hearty soup like we had before than have it cheaped out. Sorry, nephew, you need to listen to the reviews.

I have a Moroccan chicken soup. The taste is ok and can be stronger. The shop is generous in providing food. The staff is very friendly and diligent.

Been a customer of Ralph's for over a decade but I'm concerned that foodflation/shrinkflation is presenting headwinds for the Nephew. Also the fact that Ralph didn't leave any of his recipes on paper (why would you not do that? Surely those staff that WERE keeping his place open while he was gone knew how to make each soup because there was no change in the soup texture or flavour while he was away for over a year from the business. There is definitely shrinkage in the size and almost $3 more for a large (what looks to be the size of a cup). The buns no longer look like they come from Cobs when they had an arrangement with Ralph. Most of the original staff looks like they left or were not hired back. Could be Lonsdale quay is asking this business to pay high rent thinking the Nephew would bring back the original followers. Never assume anything. Now with workers working from home or partially at the ICBC office, it will be interesting to see if TSN survives. I don't go as often anymore because nostalgia smacks me in the face with higher prices, less product and a soup that doesn't invoke the past. Kudos for the Nephew in carrying on the name but unfortunately you have big shoes to fill. Good luck my friend.

The staff was very friendly. He asked how my day was going and had a nice smile. The split pea and ham soup was good. Although very small pieces of ham. Wish they put bigger chunks in it.
Foccacia bread was small. I bought a Boston clam chowder frozen soup. It was flavorful peppery, sufficient clams and potatoes. Very tasty. I am happy that a family member took over the business as I really like Soup Meister soups.

My Italian Wedding was blend and tasteless with an increase of 30% price. The veggies were cut too small too. Don't sure if I want to go back

Everything on their menu is amazing! I’ve been coming here for at least 20years! And it tastes just like I remember as a kid. So wholesome, always consistently delicious, and super friendly staff/service. Highly recommend! Their clam chowder is our fav!

I used to eat there for years when I worked on the northshore and recently went back to buy a container of one of my favs the beef barley, sad to say it was over the moon salty and the beef was tough and chewy but I will go back and give it another shot.

Still the best soups on the North Shore! Hearty, delicious & made with fresh ingredients! Highly recommend!

I tried the Italian Wedding, Muligatawny, Tomato Basil, Broccoli and Cheese, Chicken Noodle and the Beef Stew soups. You can tell that they care about fresh ingredients because it felt like I was eating the soup at home or friend just made it for me.

The soups are hearty and very tasty and I did not feel the need to add more salt or spices. I really love the big chunks of meet and vegetables.

It’s a must any day of the year and worth every penny!

I am not sure why we received a bowl of inedible paste, but it looked nothing like the pictures. No tomato sauce, barely any meatballs, heavily overboiled. I've made better soup when I was sick.

They had a choice of 4 hot soups today and they all looked delicious. Thick hearty homemade. I had the sweet potato and vegetables. Loved it and the Italian wedding was delicious last week. Great selection in the fridges as well.

Compared to before, soup is now much more expensive, flavour’s not as good as before, bun is half the size, no line up, very quiet. Definitely big difference in atmosphere.

This place has a wonderful history on the north shore with the best soup the city has to offer it’s family run and owned and service comes with a smile weather you’re buying cold soup that can be frozen and kept in the fridge for weeks or buying hot soup with a fresh bun made at cobs bread next door you really can’t lose when you shop here

So happy to see this place back open! The soup is delicious and made with quality ingredients. The Italian Wedding soup is out of this world, even my picky toddlers agree! Can't wait to go back and try more soups - whether hot or from the fridge, you can't go wrong.

I have been Raif’s customer and friend since early 2000. This new management will ruin his legacy. Chicken noodle soup is nothing near what the man used to make.half the ingredients and double the price. I felt ripped off paying $8.50 for a small cup of hot water with few noodles and some carrots. The large size which used to be this amount now is nearly $16!

The italian wedding soup was FANTASTIC! We also really enjoyed the potato and leek. Quality and flavour was great. We will certainly be back to try more.

Came down with the family for some soup on a nice Sunday after noon, to find out they are closed. I will still give you a 5 star review because I absolutely love you guys. Will you be open next Sunday? Italian wedding will just have to wait.

Had the clam chowder (tomatoe base) Tasted like tomatoe sauce with stalks and stalks of celery and a few potatoe chunks. I could count how many clams were in it cause there were barely any!
