The Stable House Bistro

Chill place to hang out with friends. Unfortunately they were out of some of the items on the drinks menu. The menu is limited but the offerings were good.

A very different experience from most of the reviews here:
- Bartender was rude/obnoxious; chewed out my friend for looking at the big board menu
- Food was mediocre at best - Friend got the Gnocchi which was ok, few of us split a 5 piece/$35 Charcuterie plate that was basically a very meager Costco/supermarket plate and the bread was very hard and holey. The Focaccia was bone dry and tasteless.
- Staff was a bit rude and super slow

Very small portions and the prices were outrageous for the serving size.no flavor to the food.one scallop sliced into 5 pieces and terrible green peppers.never recommend this place

Such an amazing wine and dinner spot, love the ambiance and the food is yummy. Must try! And great date spot

Very slow service today; our food was tasty but too expensive for the portion size. The eggs benny was cold, and it would have been nice to include a small amount of bread to sop up the sauce in the Portobello mushroom dish. It was a very disappointing experience overall, except for the lemoncello slushy.

We have eaten here many times in the past, but will not likely go again. There are too many other better restaurants in the area.

Unfortunately we were disappointed in the food after all the great reviews. The gnocchi was nothing special, thick sauce and was just ok, flavour was missing, portion size quite small. Sable fish was tasty. Focaccia was dry and tasteless (with 2 tiny pistachios on top of the Italian meat - which is akin to baloney) cabbage spinach salad was ok…. To say food was just ok these days with higher prices (and even higher requests for tips) is not good enough for our palate.
We won’t be returning any time soon (this was our second time there with same outcome)
Service was fine.

We celebrated Mom's upcoming birthday with dinner and desert at The Stable House. It was as good as it gets.

Amazing experience!
Chloe served my friend and I at the bar. She was incredible! Chloe explained every wine in detail & offered snack in between our endeavour. Also the other staff were incredibly helpful, as they checked up on us when Chloe was busy. I recommend this place highly!

Tasty stuff! They make some excellent drinks and have some delicious foods here!
Atmosphere is a good mix of intimate and casual

Wouldn't eat here again. The Bad Dog bread with fennel butter was dry/stale (had it been toasted?) and the fennel butter was 'meh'. The mushroom/barley dish was comfort food, a bit bland. The pork skewer was tasty, but literally consisted of 4 small pieces of pork occupying about 4-5" of space on a 12" skewer (did they run out of food in the kitchen?). No wine was offered for less than $14/glass, and they were out of the 2 whiskeys offered at $8,50/shot, so chose not to drink. Would have had a better meal elsewhere.

Loved everything we had, including their charcuterie & cheese board (we got 3 items on our board), the chicken roulade, and the salmon. Great service and cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to try their family style 4-course menu next time.

Food is good but leans sweet. I was wanting a little acid in almost every dish. The charcuterie board has a large pile of trail mix compared to the things you actually want like meat and cheese. Tonight my husband and I had the 4 course dinner and were disappointed in the portions for the price as well as it took 1.5 hours from 1st appetizer to dessert! Way too much time between courses especially when they are so small. If you want to drink wine and have a snack it's great, going for dinner not so much!

Chef's menu Great charcuterie and cheese with basket of bread. Great mini carrots with hazelnut glaze. Pate (great) with more bread. Sliders with scant pulled pork, more bread! Dessert: melted mass of marshmallows on (gosh) puffed bread.

My experience was horrible. Im not sure if they think you're servicing them or them you. It's a hole in the wall placed within people that are qualify and have money. The menu is beneath proper, the staff thinks they're baller.lol as you're the customer. It's people placing themselves clearly into an area of money because there manners are anything but that more like.from a garbage bin.

Lovely wine/cocktail spot. The brunch boards & charcuteries are so well presented & absolutely delicious! Definitely would return!

A great local spot, feels intimate and hidden away especially given it's right off Granville. Some previous reviews speak to the price/quantity ratios, but this is a social spot that makes you feel welcome and hosted. You're there for the whole experience.

Always a new and creative menu. Good wine selection and recommendations. They really know how to do amazing fish.

Tried the carbonara pasta, portions are so small! It looked like it's off the kids menu! Also tried a brunch item, food taste fine but portions are off at this place. And not too many options

This is what is coming as a share, large plate which it wasn't. And it was costly.
But if you are looking for having experience on fresh and farm food, beside great and friendly waiters, definitely this place is suggested.

Great date spot! First time was this past week. Quiet and centrally located. Walked right in, no line. AND the food was incredible. Fried chicken and risotto was next level! My girlfriend and I live in the area and will definitely come back here!

Absolutely terrible service from this place sadly.
I am fully aware that covid has thrown so many curve balls and it understandable that servers are under more strain however, the server we had was just beyond rude to me a, Vancouver local and my family who were visiting from out of town.
She rudely told me to “get out”of the restaurant if I wanted to sit on the patio, then she abruptly demanded our vaccination passports, which we already had ready and available. Then she literally threw the menu at us and told us to sit wherever, gesturing towards the patio as she just walked off inside. No mention if someone would be out to take our order or not.
We waited 10 mins and still no water or service so we decided to leave. As we left the server and bar staff saw us and smirked as if they had purposely been waiting for us to leave after being rude so they could close the restaurant

An interesting spot to enjoy some shared food with friends. Good food although the many menu combinations made selecting what to order a bit frustrating for us.

Personally I preferred the regular boards over the brunch board which seemed overpriced and underwhelming compared to the other. My favourite item on the menu by far was the fried chicken board which was delicious. The popcorn was interesting and some of the meats and other items on the regular boards were definitely enjoyable. I was also pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the house white wine which they rotate.

Had dinner here during Covid when 13th was closed to car traffic. The restaurant did a great job of taking advantage of the street closure and set up a very comfy outdoor patio in the middle of the street. Loved sitting outside beneath the trees with a view of the gorgeous mural by Drew Young. Lots of options for food that was all nicely presented, fresh, creative and casual. Plates can be shared or not. Our server was attentive. This is a place I’d go back to.

We are on a cleanse and had specific items we couldn't eat. The chef made special dinners for us that were tailored to our diet and the plates were delicious! The atmosphere and service were fantastic! Highly recommend!

Expensive, ok food and slow service. This place is probably not to eat food, we paid 32 CAD for half a plate of spaghetti, 1 slice of bacon, 1/4 avocado and 1 small portion of fried chicken. The food took very long to arrive, as well the seating, although the place was not fully occupied,

The food was ok, but no where near the asking price. Don't recommend this place and I'm not returning. Maybe this is a place for some drinks and light snack

Cute cozy neighbourhood bistro around south Granville Area, a must try, our created imported cheese board and house made pickle vegetables where excellent both in presentation and taste. Customer service was perfect

Very mediocre, came here with my partner after moving into the neighbourhood recently.looked forward to trying it given the good reviews! The server was very rushed and always urgently trying to leave our table, she made no recommendations and wasn’t super receptive to questions about the menu.seemed understaffed for an unexpectedly busy Monday night, understandable in a pandemic.charcuterie board was decent, tuna ceviche was very fresh and had a semi-interesting dressing, gnocchi was badly burnt on the outside and given we’d just had the seed mixture in the charcuterie board the same seeds on here were a lot and just overall the dish was odd and didn’t quite come together.zero quality checks on food or engagement of any sort, slow wine refills.would expect at least a check-in on a $25+ entree.wished this place worked for us, might try again another time and hopefully it was just an off night!

The charcuterie was awesome here, especially the pate dish! Served with warm bread.would recommend:)

Had an excellent lunch at the Stable House Bistro. I got the gnocchi and it was delicious, the staff was friendly and polite, and the prices were reasonable. Love the decor as well. Will definitely be back!

Flat experience. Ordered the expensive wine flight, the risotto and creme brûlée. Lack lustre experience. The waitress didn’t put much effort it and didn’t engage at all. Did not ask how our wine was, how our meal was or how our desert was. The risotto was quite bland and had to go out of our way to ask for salt and pepper to add some flavour in. Disappointing in general.

Super cute space and great selection of wines and cheeses. Nice that they're sourcing a lot fr BC.

So glad we found this gem. The food is amazing and they got a great wine list. Definitely will be back again for drinks or dinner. The service here was amazing too.
