As an alumni of UBC, I am sickened and embarrassed by this institution. It is overpriced and incompetent education. The recent news about Christian professor Stackhouse who taught at Regent College, located on the UBC campus, for 17 years and was passed along to Crandall University only throws fuel on my rage. UBC should be known as the University of a Billion Criminals. If there were negative ratings to give, I would give one.

This architecture is brilliant. Good spot to have a bit in summer. Verything else, well it's overrated

UBC is no different from any other university when it comes to talking a big game about inclusion, diversity and accessibility. The brochure is nice but don't be fooled.

Try really hard to not be disabled in any way if you plan to go to UBC. They like to pretend that their policies and actions are designed to "remove barriers to education, " but just check out the reviews for the UBC Student Accessibility Centre. You will see that UBC talks big and they enjoy congratulating themselves, but don't expect any real help if you experience problems with accessibility.

I was injured on campus by an elevator door. My student apartment was is in no way appropriate for my disability. Everyone I reported my injury to ignored it. I was trapped in a room with a malfunctioning door for a week. It got so bad I had to drop out of my graduate program! I felt so unsafe and terrified I returned to the U. S. And all anyone said was, "We are sorry our buildings aren't accessible. " Are you kidding me? !

UBC would love for you to believe they are on the cutting edge but it is largely hypocrisy, disorganization and dismissal. I regret ever applying for or accepting a place here. It was a colossal waste of money, time and energy and all I have to show for it is a broken dream.

I like this place. And because this place is so big, it makes the place so beautiful and good, and even though i don’t go to school here, i still come here to see the beautiful campus and views. Oh and also theres an UBC rose garden here! Its beautiful.

A university that puts emphasis on student learning and experience. Lots of buildings that cater to student needs like studying and general relaxation.

Great world class university. The campus has put a lot of development into the infrastructure, buildings, bus loop, sports fields, indoor sports, walk ways for foot/cycle traffic, and restaurant options. They have reduced the road ways, which is a good change in the right direction. They are lacking bike racks at each building, and should add those since getting from class to class is much better on scooter or bike, but security cameras and bike racks need to be installed to facilitate that.
The new SUB is amazing, and gives students a place to study and hang out.
Keep up the great work and innovation.
One idea would be to put covered walk ways between buildings (similar to the bus loop cover), as it's raining most of the semesters, if those were made of solar panels, it would be a great use during rain, but also generate electricity for the campus during daylight hours, great dual use of the area. A modular system would allow easy maintenance and relocation as the campus changes and grows.

Very beautiful campus with great education experiences. Could not recommend the faculty of this school more!

Interview with recruiter screener was a young recent graduate student with 0 industry knowledge and asked technical questions without any industry understanding or knowledge including using technical terms that do not exist. I would not recommend you ever work or study here. Disgusting, useless place. The recruiter then bragged how everyone needed to be hired a week ago. Slow, complete lack of knowledge and garbage place.

It’s alright, quite beautiful on the nature side but felt lacking, didn’t really have much to do around the place

Lots of food outlets, some great places to sit, a fantastic library and it’s a great campus to walk around. The little Earth Science museum is free. Not to mention the fact you can get a decent education here too.

UBC is an amazing school but the highlight is the campus. Even if you're not a student at UBC you should totally come visit, there's two very amazing museums; one being the museum of anthropology which is just really cool a lot of history and art mostly of Canadian indegenious but there is some variety, the second one is the Beaty biodiversity museum which has a blue whale skeleton one of the only in the world. The nature around UBC is beautiful too just walking around the forest, or going to the japanese garden, or go down to the beach there's just so much to see. Everyone should come to the campus, there's enough activities for anyone.

One of the best universities in the country in the top places to live in the world. Top quality research institute. One of the most scenic campuses in the world with the forest, mountain and the sea in close proximity. Close to the famous Wreck Beach. Other beaches just minutes away.

Beautiful campus with wonderful students but professors who often neglect teaching topics in favor of simply assigning busy work. Classes are often useless, with "clicker questions, " used to record attendance on overpriced "clickers, " being the only reason many students show up. If you attend this school, you will most likely be better off spending time learning through external sources than in class. UBC has potential to be a truly amazing school, but is hampered by its desire to push away any student who doesn't fit UBC's outdated vision of the model student, that is, a student who forgoes learning for enjoyment and partaking in activities they love, in favor of dispassionately forcing themselves through classes and activities for the sole reason of making oneself marketable and desirable to employers.

UBC: once the forefront of academic scholastic post-secondary education in British Columbia, today the forefront of the pushing of the United Nations' anti-intellectual "sustainable development" initiative in BC. Ruining tommorow's generations today.

Great university with a lot of brilliant minds at work. Awesome active life, super easy to get involved in anything if you put yourself out there. The campus is indeed gorgeous during a sunny day. We've got:

-the Museum of Anthropology,
-a Rose Garden,
-Nitobe Japanese Tea Garden,
-Botanical Gardens
-UBC Farm.

Plus a lot of films and TV shows are/have been filmed here including, but not limited to, The Butterfly Effect, 88 Minutes, Smallville, Psych, Supernatural, Try Seventeen.

Educationally, the first two years of your Bachelors will most likely be tough because typically class sizes are large, and it's hard to get advice about anything from advisors (if you're in Sciences-but Land and Food Systems has the best undergraduate advisors) but once you get through it all, it's a breeze after that. Well, unless you're studying something hard like Chemistry. UBC has a lot to offer, so if you're considering studying here, be sure to check out all your options. You may discover a new found love for a subject you never knew existed (like food science!).
