Delicious baked goods! You can't leave without trying the cherry turnovers, cinnamon buns and passionfruit mousse!

Ordered a wedding cake from here years ago and still pop in to buy things. Quality hasn’t changed. Have yet to find any other bakery that has butter cream equal to theirs. Don’t know if they still make cakes with custard and butter cream - but OMG - those cakes are to die for…. Just sayin’…. Might be worth an ask…. They might have to custom make you one…. …it’s pretty much my childhood bakery and it hasn’t changed. I guess that’s why I love it so much.

With new management came new hours. Now you can shop all week for your bakery favourites! Soon they will be serving coffee* which you can enjoy at one of their new outdoor chairs & tables. As a longtime supporter/consumer I’m thrilled that it was saved at the last moment so shoppers & staff can continue to enjoy their amazing sweet works of art. We do and you could too.

The pastries here are legit works of art – flavors are on point, and the cozy vibes make it the perfect spot to treat yourself. 10/10 would recommend!

I don't mess around with my sweets, especially in the morning, after a good hefty lunch, or after a lovely dinner with my wife. I had the luck of finding this bakery on map when I was visiting Van City and let me tell you this, the donuts the cream filled pastries was as if I am biting into a heavenly cloud. So soft, just the perfect amount of sweetness, creamy, oh my. Just thinking about it again makes me wanna finish the rest of the box now.

They are still open! New management but I'm praying they will still have that tiramisu cake omg it's amazing! Highly recommend

Best bakery ever. It’s very sad and unfortunate that is closing! It will be sorely missed. There was never or will be another bakery quite like it. The end of an era! Wishing you a very well deserved retirement!

Just got home from this bakery. Bought a cake for my husband’s birthday. As for the bakery, you can see various of goodies you can choose from; breads, cookies, cakes and what not. The one thing that really impact me today and make me really feel bad is the customer service. Im not saying all the staff are rude. But this lady at the front doesnt have a good manners. Im asking politely about the cake im about to buy and she’s responding so rude. This kind of lady is definitely a liability to certain business. I can tell that others are nice they are all smiling, greets other customers and responding nicely to the questions asking to them but this lady who is an asian like didnt know great customer service. Or atleast the attitude of being nice. Just be nice because im being nice and im a customer who is buying the bakery’s product. Its nothing wrong to answer if it’s nut-free or no. This kind of person really has a bad impact to other people. Making my day not so nice because of her. I still bought the cake though, cuz i dont want to be like her. Im sure some people will just leave the store and not to buy at all after having a bad service experience.

Love this bakery. Ordered a couple dozen cupcakes for my child’s birthday. They were gorgeous to look at and delicious. So easy! Highly recommended.

Man. What the hell happened to this place? Before COVID it was far better. Tried giving them a chance again recently after they botched a cake for my son's birthday last year. Amdist their unfortunate pest issues, they were open for business so we decide to try to give them a shot. 96$ frickin dollars for a 9 inch cake? Come on. That is bloody absurd. Not to mention the older lady was rude to my wife on two separate occasions. Order cancelled. Get your act together guys. You used to be a staple of the neighborhood.

Visited at 10am on a Monday the day before valentine's day. Bakery was dead and display cases had major condensation inside the windows. Shelves & display cases were approx. 50% empty. I purchased dinner rolls as staff brought them out to the shelves during my visit but found them lacking their usual buttery taste. Even though I was the only customer when I entered the bakery I still had to wait 4 minutes before any staff acknowledged me (2 others walked by behind the counter before the 3rd one asked me if anyone helped me yet.really?). I always purchase a 7" heart shaped buttercream cake every year just before vday but to my shock this year the cashier charged me $54.95 for a much smaller and inferior (in height/layers/taste) cake. Prices were not listed where the heart cake was so I just assumed that it was the usual same price as the 7" square (which in fact is a way better value with more layers) for $45 ish. Also purchased cream donuts which were not fresh & whip cream ratio was off compared to pre pandemic (baked part was previously frozen). We have been patrons of valley bakery for decades. The only reason we kept enduring the hit/miss quality of their service & goods was their old school buttercream cakes. Post pandemic we noticed the butter content in their buttercream icing is diminishing which greatly affects the taste. We will placing valley bakery far in the valley of our minds from now on.

Disgusting I checked there health board records in June 2022 they were closed live mice and dead mice in proofed mice chewed thru flower bags etc

If you’re looking for burger buns then this is the place to go! I haven’t been able to find a better burger bun in the city. They’re well priced, fresh, soft, and the perfect size.

If I know I’m making burgers to impress I will gladly go out of my way to come here and get their sesame seed burger buns.

Bella bella sooooo goooood amaazing cakes cookies and pastries, if you get cake or pastries from here for your sweetie you’ll get some for sure 100% guaranteed.
But seriously it’s good a bit expensive but thats life in the big city.

On point? No. I miss traditional baked goods and sweets. I'll keep on searching because this bakery isn't it.

If the year was 2010, I would be giving Valley Bakery 5 full stars. They used to be my go-to for lemon tarts, cake, sausage rolls, etc. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed in the past few years the prices have been going up, and the quality has been going down. The pastries all taste like they have come straight from the freezer with that slightly stale taste, and the cake is very dry.

Lots of employee turnover, which is sad because there used to be some ladies that were a delight to deal with back in the day!

ADDITIONALLY: In April 2022, I walked by the store and noticed a mouse running around in the display case. Looking at the Health Inspection reports, this seems to be a reoccurring issue. Today, Oct 2022, I walked by and saw a mouse in the display case again. That’s just a huge no from me.

I got my birthday cake here and ever since I’ve adored their Buttercream chocolate cake. Give it a go, it’s really good!

The middle aged white lady working at 5: 30pm today shouldn't be front of house. I have sympathy for food service workers (being one myself), but her aggression was frankly shocking. She made a mistake with my change, but continued trying to argue with me even after the issue was was resolved. I wonder how differently this would have ended for a customer with less patience than me. Maybe she needs a vacation to chill out (if not a new job).

I ordered a cake a week ago for a birthday party I was having for my husband i paid for the cake in advance one of my guests was kind enough to pick it up for me when he arrived they said they couldn't find it between texts and phone calls they found it this is not the first time I've had problems there

My husband ordered my birthday cake from there when he got home and opened the box the cake was mangled it was dropped

Another year my husband went to get my cake only to find out they gave my cake away so I had no cake

The service has gone down hill and I dont know if I will go back

Did gender reveal cupcakes from here. Communication was a little iffy because I was told yes to cupcakes but when my MIL called to give them the gender, they told her they didn’t do cupcakes. Ultimately the presentation was nice minus no cupcake holders in the box which of course caused the cupcakes to smush a little. The icing was good, the fondant was nice but it was the cake part that surprised me because of such good reviews. Unfortunately the cake part was dry and didn’t taste great. It tasted as if the cake had been left out for days and definitely was not what I or my guests were expecting. Good effort was made but I would do research on other bakeries before settling for this one.

Have been shopping here for a really long time for cookies, bread, cakes, and fancy dessert bars! The BEST thing they make are their cinnamon sticks which you can only get once a year on Hat's Off day. I buy several packs! Delish!

Been going to the Valley bakery for years.
The key lime tarts and vanilla slices and of course their birthday cakes are a favourite

Watch out for mice running around in the pastry display case! I went to this bakery this afternoon and while I was waiting to pay for my items I saw a mouse running around in the pastry case. I pointed it out and another customer saw it and promptly cancelled their order. The staff seemed unconcerned and just said " how did that get in here? " and continued serving customers. Disgusting! I will not buy from there again.

For bakeries lovers, you’ll love this spot. The shop is a little outdated, needs a fresh look, with all the amazing things they have, it’d be amazing

Staffs are excellent. The cakes are excellent too! I ordered cakes for my aunties birthday and anniversary cake for another auntie and we like it very much. It's not that sweet and not too much butter and icing. Keep up the good job) i love the cookies too. Worth the price

It has been a pleasure visiting Valley Bakery for the past many years. Over the years, I have been fortunate being able to try many different desserts at this location. All of the baking is very good quality and has stayed surprisingly consistent for the past decade of visiting. I personally enjoy the lemon and lime tarts, shortbread cookies with icing and many different cakes that they offer. Great job to the owner and staff for doing a fine job. I hope that you can continue outputting quality baking for many years to come.

We ordered a very large chocolate birthday cake from Valley Bakery. It was beautifully decorated and we received so many comments on the amazing flavor and texture. Everyone wondered where we had ordered the cake.

Delicious cookies and desserts, and the price for a dozen cookies is amazing! It’s a must go for me when I’m in the neighbourhood. The cinnamon butterflies are our favourite ️

The pastries and cookies, etc.are okay. However, the customer service at the front - horrible! No greeting. So impatient. So rude. I couldn't hear what she said, so I asked her to repeat it. SHE YELLED! I was like, I just didn't hear the first time. I'm not deaf! I will be putting in an official complaint regarding her stinky attitude.

Super yummy cookies. This place has been here for a long time apparently. You can mix and match the cookies here and there's lots of pastries and cakes to choose from.

Good assortment of pastries, wonderful banana pie, one of the best in vancouver. $3 charge for custom text on a piece of unsightly wax paper is not good value however.

Prices are ok, service was not very good. Products are not labeled, so it's difficult to convey what product you want to the salesperson. Number dispenser is nest to the exit. (This is particularly brilliant.) Pick a number sign is not prominently displayed. Social distancing is impossible with the layout they have. Won't be back.

Their cookies are so yummy! I love bringing my children there. The recipe has not changed over the last 20 years. This place brings me back to good memories when I was a kid.

Large bakery. You will probably be able to find what you want. I like all their cream filled things. Though I wish they could use diplomat cream in their cream filled pastry.

I always drove by this bakery but finally I visited it over the weekend. I arrived around 5pm, so it was the end of the day that they almost sold out most of the cookies and pastries.

They have a ticket system, so customers must get a number and wait for a server to call. The bakery has two doors. One is going in and one is exiting due to covid.

The bakery has bread, lots of cookies and pastries, and savoury items like veggie and sausage rolls. I bought their Christmas tree hangers which were very cute (see photos) and a couple of sausage rolls. The Christmas tree hangers were ginger bread cookies with chocolate coating and a small Christmas decoration. I am keeping one for myself and give the rest to others. The sausage rolls tasted fine but not super outstanding.

I would recommend others to come here if they would like to buy cookies, bread and pastries. They have a wide variety of items. Sometimes I find it’s hard to choose when there are so many options.

There is free street parking nearby, so it’s very convenient.

So we went here to get a cake for my husband’s 50th Birthday 2 weeks in advance. Went to pick it up and they say they lost the ticket. Even though the girl that took my order remembers me. There solution was Sorry and here is your store credit. Total BS or two small cakes nothing like the I ordered. Would only recommend if you want disappointment. Staff tried to help but manager ignored me and was useless

Walked by late at night after closing and saw multiple mice climbing on the displays. Will never go here again.

Great Tasting Bakery. Excellent Customer service for most part. I highly recommend their cakes. Just make sure when it is being boxed that the top part does not press down on the icing layer in case you have something special written on it. One time, one part of it got smushed.

Overcharged transaction to my credit card - I used the tap option on my credit card, and due to the height of the counter, I couldn’t see the amount that was listed on the machine. After I got home, I realized they added an entire digit to my total amount ($x.xx became $xx.xx instead). Credit company would not let me dispute because tapping means you authorized the amount at the point of purchase: (so PLEASE VERIFY the amount you are paying with the counter person before you tap!

The fruit pastries I got were not fresh. I think the pastry might have been a couple days old, as the fruit was leaking moisture/juices onto the pastry itself, causing it to be soggy (and the fruit to appear deflated). Maybe if you pick the right time and day to go it would be alright. But price-wise it’s a pretty good deal. Just not as good of a deal for me because I got overcharged by a whole figure: (

It’s my first time to order here to try one of their product because I was curious why this bakery is always having long line and lots of guest then I tried their Sausage rolls and I love the taste especially if you warm it like steam it will be more tasty. I will come back again to try their other product and I will definitely recommend this bakery to everyone.

I bought cherry turnovers and some fruit shortbread - the service was good and fast, even though I had to wait outside for my turn! (We're limited to four people inside at a time for covid restrictions which is fine) I will for sure come back when I'm in the area to try something else!: D The cakes were so beautiful!

I have been buying their vanilla slices for decades. Their crusty dinner rolls also were unreal! I remember when Portofino restaurant used to be across the street. They used Valley's rolls for their meatball sandwiches. OMG. I misd Portofini so much!

Excellent service as always. Best quality products and baked goods. Appreciate that the Bakery is open and serving customers in a safe way.

We just discovered this treasure bakery.
We loved their 4.95 for 12 cookies where we can mix and match and try all kinds of options.

The Dutch Bakery in Victoria is my minimum standard for Dutch treats. Although there is lots of variety here, I'd say the flavours are not as prominent (doughnut only ok, vanilla slice, mocha roll). The upside is The Valley Bakery pastries are not overly sweet and prices are extremely affordable. I will be back to try some other items.

20-30 minutes with each customer, 4 customers in the store at a time, 4 employees working the counter. Just expect to wait outside for an hour or two. I would say I loved or hated the baked goods but you can't get in to try anything. When a business has a year to adapt a streamlined method and fails. It just shows incompetence on the highest level.

Drove all the way out from Maple Ridge for the whipped cream donuts and sausage rolls! So delicious! Also grabbed a loaf of their sourdough bread which was fantastic. Worth the trip and will be back again and again!

Excellent neighborhood bakery featuring great quality breads and baked goods at very reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly.

The service has really deteriorated to the point of being non-existent. I went in today and the bakery was empty as the prior customer had just left. I walked up to the service counter and stood there waiting for service while 4 staff members completely ignored me. After about 4 minutes of waiting I just walked out of the bakery. I was shocked that I was not served or even acknowledged. The baked goods are of high quality and I used to be a very frequent happy customer, but now I feel the service is just so bad that I realize I'll have to find another place to shop.

My family has been going to Valley Bakery since I can remember! Always nice to see everyone there. They are friendly and so caring and they cakes, pastries and baked goods are the best!

I came here to pick up some yummy bake goods.due to covid they only allow 4 people in at a time. There was a line to get in waited outside for about 45 mins with my bubble of 3 we all waited to go in one by one to go in til someone came out and picked out every thing we wanted.but one of the baker was rude and mean told us that one of us had to leave cause there a line of people. We all waited in that line together.and went in one after another

The Valley bakery has been my go to bakery since the early 90’s. The cookies are a weakness of mine and the sausage rolls can’t be beat. You can’t find quality like this anywhere else in all of Vancouver.
Jack been an active member of the community, volunteering his time for community pancake breakfasts and other events. I’m happy to support this local family business.
Unfortunately I recently moved away from the lower mainland. I find myself reminiscing over the gingerbread and Christmas treats which had become a tasty tradition for our family during the holidays.
If you haven’t been, try it out. Your tastebuds will thank you.

My first time to the Valley Bakery was around 2001 or 2002. The very friendly and helpful staff, along with the amazing selection of baked goods is what keeps me coming back. I love this place.

Rude employee alert. They do no have the decency to behave with their customers. I came to their bakery to support local business. But the employees here were extremely rude that I wont be going here ever again.

The line was always long when I passed by, so I was very curious. Today, i finally had the chance to visit here. The staff was super friendly. There were so many goodies. Eclair was amazing and all the cookiea we got are special. Not overly sweet, but enough sweet with deep flavors. It was a pleasant visit.

Been coming here since I was a kid with my parents and it is still the best for traditional bakery goods. Very nostalgic!

Went with my mom once a month while I was a little girl, I was raised in Burnaby.
Now I go with my husband even though we are in Surrey. Wonderful cakes, yummy pastries not to expensive.

We asked Valley Bakery if it was possible to make us a cake that was "sugar free" - or mostly free of added simple sugars (including agave syrup, which is very high in fructose). They came up with a new recipe using erythritol as the sweetner. Erythritol does not lead to an increase in blood sugar levels in people with diabetes and is a low calorie sweetner that does not have the same problem as other sugar alcohols in causing gastrointestinal issues. The plus is that it is ideal for baking. The resulting cake was one that we could truly all have and eat it too! It was absolutely delicious - with real cream, nuts and fruit. We are trying to come up with more family get togethers to enjoy the cake - but there is no need for a special occasion to consume this little scrumptious treat one can eat frequently without regret.

One of my favourite bakeries.only time they disappoint is when everyone else loves an item as much as you do and they have run out, but there is always a great suggestion on what to try instead, or come back the next day to beat the rush on your favorite items

Polite, friendly, attentive staff. Clean, open space.
Decadent plethora of baked goods. The tarts were rich and fruity, but not heavy. The chocolate cake melted in your mouth.
I will definitely be back to try other things. After I go to the gym.: D

I've been going here since I was a child, and there are some things that they bake better than anywhere else.try their cinnamon twists. Also, there are lots of well-priced savory items (ie.a decent sausage roll selection) if you need a less-sweet snack for the kids)

I think the cookies are the best. The bread is a bit lackluster. Raisin bread is good and cheese bread is great. Buns.mehh.service is fsntastic! Did I mention the cookies! So many good ones and very reasonable pricing.

Very very very slow counter service. And I mean painfully slow. At a non busy 2pm I waited 25 min to get served. Lots of buzzing around and stocking displays but did not seem in a rush at all to get people moving 3 ladies working but.

I do not know how you mess up a brownie. Tried a variety of treats, I prefer a bakery that doesn't have artificial flavor like those lime tarts! It tasted like a lime mentos. We purchased about 5-8 sweets. I did not get to try any other bakery items such as bread due to me not purchasing them. However they offer a wide range of product! The lemon tart was actually pretty good. They did not taste very artificial. The ladies that were working were pleasant and friendly!

There is a true sense of community here. While this place lacks finesse, it is abundant in homeliness and economy. Every time I'm here, I can't help but always walk away with a dozen cookies for the price of a latte. Where else can you find prices like that? If it's comfort you are looking for, you can't go wrong with this place.

Miss this bakery. I moved to the Okanagan and have been to almost every bakery, and not one comes close to Valley Bakery. At this time of the year I would really love to have a couple of the Christmas cakes. They are the best ️

Usually the pastries are fresh and fabulous, but last visit, we could taste a "fridge or freezer-like" smell & flavor to some of the creams and icing. A little disappointing since we come all the way from Abbotsford.

Their Cakes are very good. The whipped cream is a bit too much but for someone like me who loves whipped cream, its very yummy.

I cannot say enough good things about this bakery! Going here always reminds me of my childhood. It's nice to see some of the same staff still working there, too, and their baked goods are still as delicious as ever! Favs include the butter spritz fondant cookies (pink and yellow) as well as the brown eyes cookies, key lime tarts, and mocha buttercream cakes. If you're looking for something more on the savoury side, I recommend the ham & cheese rolls.

I have been coming here since I was a kid with my parents always use to give me a free cookie. The staff is awesome usually come for the cookies and butter crust bread and doughnuts especially the glazed and longjohn are the best.

Awesome! I had a cake emergency, they opened early and sent me on my way with a cake within 2 minutes.
