The View Oceanside Grill

They have the most delicious seafood in Nanaimo. Servers are always great, appies aka calamari is a must try. The View is my favorite restaurant in Nanaimo!

The View is a fine dining restaurant with plenty fresh seafood options. We had a wonderful dining experience, as our waitress Melisa S.gave us fantastic recommendation for wine selection based on our food order. Go early, and maybe make a reservation if you can, because this restaurant fills up quite fast!

I had dinner at The View with my wife and two children before our ferry back to Vancouver. Harry was an excellent host and ensured that we finished with ample time to reach the terminal. We have had many memorable meals in world-class restaurants this year and it's no exaggeration to say that our meal at The View ranks among the top, whether in terms of quality of food or service. My albacore tuna and prawn skewers dish was particularly good. We will certainly be back. Thanks to Harry and the culinary team.

The food was amazing and the portions were great. Our server was very friendly. The view was awesome, but the music was a little too loud for the area we were sat in.

Overall, great experience.

One of our companions ordered ravioli and cod and 5 minutes later our waitress says they are sold out. She then tries another order, no luck. Finally hits it with the Mac and cheese seafood. Our waitress was only there a week and was doing her best. We ordered the seafood flambè and some of it was cold. The views are great and the restaurant is clean. Prices are reasonable.

Was pleasantly surprised by the wide range of the menu and everything ordered was great. Reasonably priced as well

Such a great restaurant, the food is consistently spectacular and even though we could tell our server was very busy, everything was still correct, quick, and delicious! Probably my Gabriella favorite restaurant in Nanaimo.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and server. Meghan I believe. Just a quick question though. I know there's Rainbow Trout.but your menu says Reindeer trout.wondering if this is a list print?

Great service and food! It was the highlight of my birthday. I definitely recommend this restaurant and the seafood flambe!

The food here is absolutely divine and are fairly large portions at very reasonable prices. The Beef Tenderloin Schnitzel I was hesitant about ordering but seriously, it works! The Mahi Mahi was tender and flaky while the prawns came bubbling with cheese and garlic oil. Will surely return!

The View Oceanside Grill's team is unified in their goal of making sure the customer knows you are not welcome, please leave, and please don't return.

The greeter wants you to turn around and leave. The waitress wants you to hurry up and leave. The owner comments on these reviews to make sure you know it's your fault they treated you poorly.

At least there is no one person making everyone else look bad.

We have been numerous times and tried a variety on the menu. You have never disappointed. The ambiance, the view, the service, and the appies and mains and dessert are fantastic. I am usually reluctant to go out as I love to cook and often feel I can do much better than what is out there. But this is a wonderful treat and well worth it. My husband is always satiated from the portion sizes plus he gets some of mine. The best restaurant in Nanaimo

Delicious dining experience. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and hubby ordered the Halibut. Both were exquisite and the staff was very friendly. Love the idea of tipping the kitchen with a beer jug which we did. Love the place will return for sure.

We went here for the first time the other day. Everything from the food to the service was phenomenal. I had the Red Thai Curry with prawns and my husband had the Lobster Platter. They even made our baby a kid sized mac n cheese which was not on the menu. Our servers name was Natalie if I’m not mistaken. The prices were awesome as well. Can’t wait to go back!

Awesome braised short ribs (veg could’ve been cooked more), the dress code’s even awesomer! Walked in with a sleeveless hoody and crew socks in Birks and was seated like a proper gentleman… Super friendly and quick service too!

Service was good. Waitress was friendly. The food however lacked flavour. Especially the salmon and the Spanish rice. Was hoping for delicious seafood but was disappointed.

It smelled really nice. My wife and I came in for date night and they turned us away because we didn't have a reservation. Frankly, I'm not sure it's worth taking the time to book in advance. Maybe we'll try again. But the rude service and LOUD music blaring makes that doubtful.

Food was cold and took over an hour to get. Dinning room was only at about 20% capacity so not sure why it took so long

Excellent meal and service. I had the salmon oscar and my husband tried the beef tenderloin cutlets. We both enjoyed the food and the evening.
We got to watch a couple of tableside flambe presentations - the seafood flambe is their signature dish.
We were too busy eating to take pictures.
