Sometime last year i brought in some parts of a salvaged MR2 engine. The work consisted of checking head and block, cleaning, boring the cylinders, decking and resurfacing, replacing pistons, valve job and some work on the flywheel replacing a ring gear and resurfacing it.i did not have them disassemble/reassemble the engine and i provided the parts.for what they did the time it took was quick i think the block was 2 weeks wait everything else was finished a few days after bringing it in.the only issue i had was with the safety gaskets set they gave me a deal on, some of the gaskets and seals in it weren't sealing well and i had to replace them with felpro but that's not their fault.over all i am very happy with the work they did.as for the other reviews saying theyre rude i dont really get it they were nice to me

Stopped by to have a small amout of work done on an alternator (drill out a frozen bolt) and was spoken to very rudely and told to take my business elseware. I wasn't expecting this from a business who has been in Nanaimo for soo long.

This is their idea of 'fixing' this cylinder head damage. Also took 2 months. Super unprofessional.

Great service would definitely recommend very fair pricing for the excellent work they do.

I just had Thompson Machine resurface a flywheel for an AMC 401. They turned it around in a few hours which was awesome. They did a great job and the price was very fair. I will definitely come back.

Asked to have rotating assembly balanced and was charged for it but no machining was done. Broke all but one valve guide and hid that with valve stem seals. If I didn't decide to port my engine after machining I would have never noticed this. Cam was out of spec and chipped but they polished the chipped lobes and called it good. Thanks to Island D for fixing Thompson horrible work. Also very rude experience after confronting the staff about the shotty machine work. 0/10

Edit: Obviously having the rotating assembly balanced is not the same as head work. If you balanced the rotating assembly and didn't break valve guides I wouldn't have wrote a poor review. You and two others also cornered me and got pretty vocal over the poor work that was done and I felt like I was treated pretty horrible. I also found one rod installed backwards. No fake reviews here bud.
