NEEDS SELF CHECK OUT… I find 70 percent of their cashiers to be unfriendly and unsanitary. I’ve seen them handle cash, then proceed to cough into their hands and wipe their noses; then scan your items through the till.doesn’t this business pay their employees more for their customer service skills. + the lines are always insanely long, with about 3 tills open, while I see a bunch of staff just standing around doing a whole lot of nothing… self check out would fix this poorly customer serviced thrifties. I think it’s actually the worst one on the island. I gave it 2 stars because they have good chicken and beef + produce … other than that I’m sorry… step it up!

High prices, long waits at checkouts, shortage of sale items, service has gone downhill since being taken over by Sobeys. I rarely shop there now, and many friends and relatives say the same.

Great selection of products at competitive prices. The staff seems genuinely happy. They give Air Miles.

Tried the fried rice rice wasn't even cooked and wasn't even warmed The rice seemed like it was still hard And 10 bucks for both almost 600 g is ridiculous you can go to quality foods and get twice as much for that For that price At least make it warm or something I was just on a break going to my other job and decide to grab a quick lunch Thought it was warm but it just ended up going in the garbage can

Bought my son a gift card, cashier did not activate it. Did not realize til we got home (by airport) was too late to go back and store has phone blocked from customer calls!

Probably the largest thriftys I've seen! Very clean and organized. Has alot of different selection and good seafood options.

Excellent service, friendly staff, no waits, very clean, not exceptionally busy when I go in, which is perfect.

I like stopping here sometimes because of the easy parking and shopping cart situation, and usually not crowded, so quick check-outs. Good sized flower department. Overall, feels like a larger thrifty.

This review mainly refers to the florist section of the store on Admiral Road.

Staff are pleasant and helpful. Special mention for Sam (woman). She is a real asset to the company.

Recently got a beautiful bouquet of coral colored carnations (special order) that were exceptionally nice. I just carnations but it's usually hard to find much for color choices beyond red, white or pink. So glad they suggested a special order that was easy to complete. A bit of a wait to arrive but worth it.

At a regular florist, these would have easily been double the price. I just wish I had remembered to take a photo to share. Complete with ferns, baby-breath, card and nicely wrapped, 18 coral -pink carnations for less than $25. Wow!

One star off as more "cash and carry" color options (especially for the basics like carnations, roses.) would be appreciated. Flowers are often an impulse buy. They are one of the easiest ways to brighten up anyone's day.

Good range of fresh local produce, decent discounts and bonus Air Miles, and some of the best staff you'll find in a grocery store

They have an excellent choice of fruits and vegetables… the cashiers are extremely sloooooooow. You can bring your an armchair and have a little nap while you wait your turn to pay.

I give this location a 3 star review because of the smell. Unfortunately this Thrifty Foods location always smells like rotting fish, as soon as you walk through the door it hits you. The employees that I have met there are all so wonderful though especially one gentleman who helped me find organic nutritional yeast one time, he went above and beyond and had an attitude just as beautiful as his smile.

Thankful for Sandra in the bakery department for bringing back the chocolate cake slices, our family favourite. Store has always been decent but some of the thrifty baking staples have been missing.

Beautiful updated thrifty location. Spacious and sleek, found everything I needed on a Sunday afternoon.

Always first class in service and food. Had what I was looking for. My only complaint - prices!

The only bright spot was the cashier that served us otherwise nothing to make me go back. Prices were extremely high, floor staff that almost run you over and poorly set up lanes.

I enjoy the lay out of the store, it has a market feel. Excellent produce, cuts if meat and bakery. Prices reflect quality, however they run fabulous specials i.e 700 g bricks of extra old cheddar at Christmas time for 6.99 regular 14.99.

What you'd expect from a grocery store, though it was WAAAAY better when it was 24 hours. Here's hoping.

Bought a beef roast, it was poorly wrapped so I put it in a plastic bag as it was dripping, as were all the others in the case. I mentioned it to the cashier and she said it was happening a lot lately! Really poor effort from the meat wrappers!

Sushi was good, but the showstopper was the nice young gentleman at the Deli counter that hooked me up with extra wasabi. < 3

We were thrilled to find Aberdeen Kippers in the fish freezer! Wow! Additionally the deli and fish counters are exceptionally well stocked and the staff are very courteous and helpful.

They have one horribly long lineup every single time I go in there. It is time they stop that and get cashes open and each with their own line like the rest of the stores.
Prices a very expensive and not nearly enough local produce sold here.

Unreasonable prices compared to competitors. Poor service. It appears most of the staff is busy filling on-line orders, blocking aisles and chatting.

Why do you guys put vinegar or something in your deli made fried rice? It tastes really weird. That is not how you make fried rice.

The Flower Department at this location is unbelievable! There is a massive selection of flowers, the prices are reasonable and if you're lucky enough to have Alicia create a custom bouquet for you, you will certainly not be disappointed.

Always a good place to shop. However I do wish grocery stores would stop using so much plastic. Share if you agree!

Fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery and deli rivals Country. We have the best choices can't go wrong.

I always enjoy shopping at Thrifty Food. Great selection in all departments. Just one little detail. Please offer more Gardien Vegetarian selection.

This store has gone steadily downhill the last two years or so. It used to be my go-to store even if it is further than two other chains. The meat and seafood is much more limited recently with the seafood and meat cases being combined now. They used to have regular alternating sales on steaks which is hit or miss now. I've also had some very tough ribeye steaks and striploin which never happened in years prior. They used to have premium produce with a good selection and now it seems much more limited. They were always a bit pricey but I still liked it because of the quality and selection. Now they are just pricey.
Finally, the service has gone way down in my opinion. I've seen the deli staff be quite rude to customers as though the staff was being bothered. I even wrote to management and they ignored my email. Today I went to the customer service counter which was closed. One of the cashiers with no customers just stared at me and instead of asking if I needed anything, told me "you're just gonna have to go stand in line" with an annoyed look on her face. Do yourself a favor, go to quality goods. They've improved a lot at the same time that Thrifty Foods at admiral's appears to have just phoned it in.

I was a bit taken back the deli didn't have a plastic fork for me to eat my over priced salad. I had no choice other than buying a whole package of forks that I'll never use.

No quick check out again. Only had 3 items, had to stand in long line with full carts. I already don't go there very often because of that

Basic shopping from their flyer. Everything was available and marked clearly. Awesome service at the check out and the bag I brought. Was packed for me. Nice store.

Quality products but also a bit unnecessarily pricey on certain products.but I believe thats due to the quantity that they buy those products at, at a time. Been a very long time shopper here since they opened and the customer service has been flawless over the years. The only thing that ever bothered me is the bland paint scheme on the interior walls but maybe thats just me

Thriftys did my last minute holiday shopping for me. I ordered online a couple of days ago. I went today and they had it all ready for me. So great.

Saturday morning and barely any staff on. I was in line with 5 items. Staff member directs people not in line to go to customer service. Thanks! I left my 5 items in the cart in line and went to the Root Cellar. You know what makes lines go faster? Stop directing traffic and jump on a till!

Major change in processing clients from 1 week ago. Very long lines and wait time to pay for groceries. Personal safety was not enhanced. Was this good for store employees?

This story is full of wonderful amazing staff that are willing to help you and go above and beyond their duties to make sure you get what you want.
And it's always nice to walk into a store and be greeted and see smiles on peoples faces

Kind of odd that they have two main doors which are usually set up as an in and an out door, but for covid they changed and are now funneling everyone through one door.

Love their bakery except that their goods are left on the shelves at regular prices for up to a week! Look at the dates when deciding

I always find Thrifty's consistantly good. High quality food, great bakery and deli. I think if you spend over a certain amount you get some kind of gas voucher for 4 cents off a liter at a Shell gas station.

Expensive unless the item you want is on sale. Seems recently Thrifty's has gotten rid of some of their name brand foods and have gone to theirs, Compliments. Most of the Compliments brand foods aren't nearly as good as name brands so it's not worth paying less.

Great butcher and bakery, good veg as well. Well layed out, find it easy to find what I need.

There are never enough cashiers working here. The line ups to check out are always long and slow. Very frustrating, particularly when on my lunch break.
