I would like to do a shout out to Lynette in the floral department of the Duncan Thrifty Foods. She went above and beyond to create the most amazing bouquet from the limited flowers in stock for my mom's special birthday on a very short time frame. Plus, she just encompasses what customer service should be always: Kind, understanding and helpful! Sobey's if you are reading this, give that girl a raise! She deserves it and more!

The staff in this store are extremely helpful. Each of them I have asked for help has always gone out of their way to help. I specifically want to compliment on the Pharmacists. I did not get her name, but she is tall and has long, dark hair. She is PHENOMENAL at her job! I am in awe with the special care and information she shared with me. With a medication, I have taken for four years, she gave me tips that have made a HUGE difference in my energy levels, wellness and sleep.

Nice, big, clean, well stocked.
Remove the sign saying sushi made to order if the guy is going to give you such filthy looks for doing so.

They have a great bakery for Birthday cakes. Their deli is really quite good as well. This place is run by a great manager.very organized.

As someone who is allergic to wheat, I'm disappointed because when I need a breakfast sandwich I can't have a wheat free option at your deli!

It's ironic that it's called Thrifty Foods when it's one of the most expensive grocery stores in town. Basic prepackaged things here are sometimes up to twice what you'd pay at Walmart or other big stores. Almost as bad as shopping at a gas station. Now they do many have upsides though like a proper bakery, deli, floral, and meat counter at they are all pretty good. For basics I would suggest looking elsewhere and saving a lot of money. The shopping experience here is much more pleasant but it comes at a cost that you will see add up if you shop here weekly. The parking lot is very awkwardly designed.

The people don't know what they are doing. Always re-directing to wrong people and departments.
So tiring.
12 October 2022 21:09
Not my usual grocery store as I usually find it more expensive for most items I buy. Although terribly expensive, the selection of ready-made fresh salads, single-portioned meals like Meatloaf or BBQ Chicken paired with veggie/potatoes etc always stocked with enough choices. Bakery, Deli and fresh vegetables superior to both Superstore and Save-On Foods but pricey in comparison
22 August 2022 5:51
No price gouging here, I bought organic steaks for $5.50 ea and a whole organic chicken for $16.
13 May 2022 21:18
Empty shelves for miles. All the sale items gone. Prices are getting way out of control over the last year. Gonna be shopping elsewhere in the future.
09 May 2022 19:27
Too much sugar in the baked goods. We need balanced flavours. I could just eat it out of the sugar jar if I wanted the taste of pure sugar.

I usually shop Thriftys in Mill Bay but this store in Duncan is far better laid out & easier to shop & more efficient getting customers out with more cashiers at the check out. I realize Duncan location is much larger in square footage but seems better run.
12 February 2021 17:30
3 tills open and a lineup back to the cheese case.they never seem to plan on being busy at obvious times. Never had any problems at other thriftys but this one is terrible.
10 February 2021 20:23
Best grocery store in the area and my go-to store. Great place to shop if you want to buy local at a bigger store.
25 January 2021 17:03
The lineup seems long inside snaking around the store, but it's only ever 10 minutes or less. Please practice respectful queuing etiquette.
23 January 2021 13:19
I love Thrifty Foods! Solid reliable service unusual foods and also a British section where I can buy Birds Custard!
I usually find everything I need and sometimes things I didn't know I needed!
21 January 2021 15:19
This store has a good variety of products and decent amount of stock. The checkout set up is pretty poor. The line up was at least 25 to 30 deep when I was there. They need to rethink the checkout process. I will think very carefully before I go back there.

THANK YOU to the staff in the floral department at Thrifty Foods Duncan location! My mom has been dealing with a local florist for over 20 years - and they have closed shop. She purchases seasonal flowers throughout the year at Thrifty Foods and has always been happy with the quality, so decided to try here for her two annual Christmas centre pieces for her children's dining tables. Well, the florist exceeded all expectations, they are better than anything she has had in the past and she is so, so very happy with her purchases (and I love it, too!). And the price was comparable to the other florist! THANK YOU and Merry Christmas!

Don't be discouraged if the line for the checkout seen daunting the staff really move things along efficiently

My favourite grocery store. Worth the increase in price. Casey S was so helpful and explained the rewards program to us tonight. Friendly staff!

Pardon me, but Seasoned Stuffing Bread by the loaf in the bakery section? Bloody genius! Especially since there won't be a poultry blend herb bunch in any produce section for 100 square miles today. Give the person that hatched that brilliant idea a raise! Well done, Thrifty's. Once again you have outdone yourselves. Merry Christmas!

I stopped by the Duncan Thriftys floral shop to inquire about a flower arrangement to be delivered to my wife on our anniversary. I spoke to the florist, describing generally the type and colours of flowers I'd like included in the arrangement. Wow - the floral arrangement that she created was absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for the floral artistry!

Parking is pretty horrific. You need to watch out you don't get run over going into or leaving the store.

It's hard to know if the carts are cleaned. There is no sign and no obvious person cleaning the. There is cleaning products at the doorway but it wasn't clear if I was to clean my own cart.

I got a broken cart. Had no idea where to return it to for sanitizing. Nothings posted. I told the security guard.

Terribly long line at 2: 30 / 3 o'clock. Not my normal shopping spot and will definitely avoid it at least at that time of day.
20 November 2020 18:27
They donate a literal truck full of food 6 days a week to the local food bank. That feeds so many people that would otherwise go without!
15 November 2020 2:52
Thrifty remains actively organized re pandemic precautions. Prices may be slightly higher but shopping is less stressful because of good organization. Good to see paper bags at checkout as opposed to plastic.
18 October 2020 10:22
Great services however the Store manager is very rude to his staff they will greet him with a hello and he never responds.as if he is too far above the common workers
09 September 2020 2:16
Sobeys should have never bought out thriftys company each passing year the quality gets worse and the prices just keep going up super disappointing.
05 September 2020 11:15
Sure isn't the pre-soby days,
and pricy on most products, however,
clean, organized & well stocked
used to do the bulk of my grocery shopping here but now just cherry pick available unique values

Do NOT carry very many SOY products. Only 1 full line of Soy-milk. 2 flavors of Soy-ice-cream (chocolate & vanilla). Zero Soy-cheese. Zero Soy-yogurt. Other supermarkets in the valley have a much wider range of Soy products. Dairy manager has informed me 8 different times over 2 yrs that he'll order other brands & products but has not yet done so.

Good selection of local, and organics. Clean store, easy distancing. I felt safe, and I bought what I needed.
05 February 2020 2:13
Friendly staff and great selection. Fresh seafood. Great cheese selection. In house bakery and deli.
29 November 2019 9:10
Nice atmosphere, helpful staff, good priced. Only downside is the parking lot (building owners fault, not Thrifty's) can be a bit of an 'experience'
24 November 2019 15:17
Meh. Its changing and im not liking it. Discontinued so many of our favourites. Always empty shelves. The only good secrion is the seafood now. Prices are noticeably higher than competitors. Going there less and less now

I am a wondering nomad making my way across this spectacular continent in search of God, I came across a small town called "Dun-Can" as I made my way through the town square I came to realize This town was different from the other towns I had come across on the island. The other towns were smaller more family owned businesses, while duncan has all the big corporations. Wallmaurt, Sooperstour, Best purchase, and Home Deapo. But the one that stood out from all the rest was thrifty foods. I had come across thrifty foods after a good Aboriginal gentleman lended me a seat in the back of his truck. After ten minutes of driving through the ressRvashun he dropped me off and told me what I was looking for was inside. I stepped out and thanked him for his kindness and paid him 74 shekles. I walked towards the front entrance and like a sorcerers magic the doors slid open without anybody operating them. I fell to the ground in astoundment. I worked up the courage and proceeded inside. Everything was amazing and colourful I was taken aback from how kind and caring the staff was. I drank three tubs of ravioli and the nice employee fRazir for the next 3 week nursed me back to health in the back room. I left and never came back three stars.
24 October 2019 16:01
Clean location. Friendly staff. Even late night they still had a decent selection of fresh products.

As a young boy growing up during the great war, it was truly tough. You didn't have any food, clothing, housing, sometimes you would hear the air raid siren go off, hide in your basement, and when you come back up your entire neighborhood is gone. You would see a friend at school one day, and the next day they would be gone. We survived off of dirt and food scraps. When I got my first fresh orange in my stalking one splendid Christmas morning, my world lit up in the same way as it did when I entered Thrifty Foods in Duncan on Wednesday, they have alot of oranges and other things and they have a delightful staff! When you enter this store, you enter a whole new world of awe and wonder and fresh b.c grown produce. 5 stars!

Whenever I visit this area, I like to pick up a package of cheese scones from the bakery. They're the best! Thrifty's is a great local food chain store. They obviously take pride in their stores, and this one is no exception.
21 September 2019 0:28
Great shopping experience. Outstanding selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. AVALON organic milk and AVALON organic milk products are available. We also found Water Buffalo Milk Joghurt! Delicious fresh baked European style bread and buns are also for sale. Take your time at this store to find some really rare things.
