Toes 'N' Taps Dance Shoppe

Loved coming here for all of my dance essentials. Everyone who works here is friendly and made the process of getting everything a lot smoother, whether I was stocking up on tights or hair pins for shows/competitions to the lengthy process of pointe shoe fitting.

Fabulous dance store! We were in a time crunch to head back up island and all the staff were so helpful and I was able to get everything I needed. Not to mention an amazing size selection! I have never felt this good about myself coming out of a dance store!

Great little shop, daughter was in heaven and son actually found what he needed. Just know that they still require masks

I spent an hour and a half in here with my daughter fitting Pointe shoes and they were so helpful and informative. She's always felt super comfortable with getting exactly what she needs here.

Purchased my daughters first pair of pointe shoes this year and was so happy with the whole experience. Staff was warm, knowledgeable and took time to make sure we were happy with our choice.

Unfortunately this is the only store in Victoria that sells pointe shoes. But the owner is very arrogant and rude. She's over the top aggressive when it comes to the mask issues (which are no longer a mandate). Especially with children, which are not legally required to wear them if under 12 any way.
My daughter will be needing her 5th pair of pointe shoes soon and I found out that Elleswear dance will order them in if you know your size. They are a much nicer business to deal with. I will even drive to body rhapsody in Duncan or other up island dance stores before I'll go to toes and taps anymore.
They really need to change their ways.
Avoid if you can!

We went in to purchase ballet slippers for my 4 yr old daughter and I tried to explain to the woman (owner I think) that my daughter was not able to wear a mask but she became very pushy and started lecturing my daughter about how it’s “her store and her rules”.
We left because we had no choice and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth because my daughter and I had been nothing but respectful and apologetic but it is not ok with me for anyone to begin lecturing my daughter. She is a child, it is not your place to teach her anything, and if I said she’s not able to wear a mask, then trust that I have tried and don’t assume your bullying a 4 yr old will somehow work.
Won’t go back. Go to elles dance wear, they are very kind and helpful, and allowed my daughter to enter without a mask saying they understood some kids were not able to wear one.

Great experience getting ballet shoes for my toddler. Staff made it an easy, fun shopping experience for us and she is thrilled with her new shoes and outfit. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly and the store had a great selection of merchandise. Thank you for providing a safe in-store shopping experience with COVID policies (masks, distancing etc) in place. Happy to support this local business!

Don’t take your child to this store to buy dancing clothes. The owner is very snobby. Rude. Sarcastic. Worst experience ever. I do not recommend them at all

This store was horrible.it was the first experience for my 3 years old and she was so excited to buy ballet clothes.
The lady who told she is the owner (!) talked with us very snobby and said to close my daughters mask she cried and i asked for couple minutes to calm her but she didnt stop and afraid her at the end i said she is crying and she will have a bad memory can you please skip this topic for some seconds please andher answer was " i don't care her"!
I said she is a toddler and she is crying because of you and you are saying i dont care her it is unblievable! She was sooo rude and unscrupulous!
I hope new dance clothes stores will be open in island and this horrible lady will stop thinking that she can behave like everyone.
I wish for a better and more quality community.

Awesome staff! So helpful in getting just the right fit for my daughters ballet shoes, and they really know their product. I highly recommend them!

I bought my first pair of character shoes there. I walked in and said "I need a pair of male character shoes" they were great. They explain the pros and cons of all the brand's of character shoes. Let me try on very different ones, and gave me lots of helpful feedback.
They didn't have my size in the style I wanted. But they ordered it on line, and called me when they arrived. They fit perfectly!

I bought a pair of shoes, and wore them for half an hour before they began to hurt my feet. I went to return them the next day for the next size up and they refused because "they had formed to my foot. " Absolutely ridiculous since the toes were reinforced. My feet feel like they have been formed to the shoes.

The staff members at Toes N Taps are educated, professional, and passionate about their craft. Their enthusiasm for all things DANCE is palpable, and you can't help but feel their commitment to getting their customers into the exactly-right gear for their needs. They are also very experienced with young kids, which was really helpful for this non-dance mom. I had no idea what my daughter needed for her classes and the staff had us all set up in no time. And while this store has been in business for many many years, the owners are always up to date in the styles, brands, and trends that they bring into the store. Thanks, everyone!

Good selection of dance clothing and shoes from toddlers to adult, staff are friendly and helpful in getting you what you need.

We’ve been purchasing dance supplies here for years, and I’m always impressed with how the staff take such care to meet our specific needs, with attention to important details. Comfort & appropriate fit is always a priority and the enthusiasm they all have for dance & the arts makes it an inspiring place to be. Love the extra handouts and information about dance studios & current events- they really go above & beyond to serve the dance community.

I went into the shop to purchase an outfit for my son (he is so excited to start ballet) and the lady that was fitting him for shoes said to us he had spatial awareness issues. Who says that to a customer and their five year old child? Horrible and snotty. Amy.

Staff came across as very snobby. I was there with my partner and the sales rep talked down to her for no reason. Was not actually knowledgeable about shoe material/longevity. Bad experience, I'm disappointed that there isn't another dance shop in Victoria, because Toes N' Taps is not held accountable.

My partner was a professional ballet dancer (moved away from dancing ballet because of this kind of toxic environment), with over 20 years of dance training. Unfortunately there isn't any other place to get ballet flats in Victoria.
