Tofino Resort + Marina

We had an amazing time at the remote floating sauna. Our guide Callie was awesome - good energy, genuine, and so helpful getting everything set up for us. The whole team at the adventure center is world class, helping us book the day we wanted and packing a little treat in with our lunch. We felt very looked after and cared for in every way.

Looking forward to going again next year!

This is the hotel with the best service I have stayed in in recent years. Everyone I meet is warmly received. The room is not big but very clean.
The hotel provides coffee, tea bags, and hot chocolate, and they use reusable paper cups with reusable paper lids. It seems that Tofino cafes also use this.
The hotel's gym is right on the shore. When exercising, you can face the boat coast and the island, which is very relaxing and enjoyable. Because we were visiting during the Christmas holiday, we did not participate in any outdoor activities. There should be more sea activities in the summer.
By the way, I heard that there is a wood steam bath in winter, and it is held in a floating house on the sea. It should be interesting.
We will probably come back again, in the summer when the weather is better.

We took a tour to hot springs cove. Dave was our captain/tour guide. We had such an amazing trip. Epic views along the way and absolutely killer time at the cove. Dave was super friendly and informative. Would love to go again next trip!

Dave was our guide for the Hot Springs Cove and my husband and I enjoyed every minute of the tour. It was our anniversary and my husband surprised me with this tour and Dave taught us interesting facts about the wildlife, the geography and history of the surrounding areas along our journey. The boat ride was smooth and comfortable and we had a blast! Highly recommend!

Have you ever wondered about the origin of the name Tofino? The town was named after an explorer & hydrographer named Don Vincent Tofino, who was honoured with the naming. Tofino officially became a town in 1909, establishing a post office and later a district in 1932.

Situated on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, Tofino’s early development was heavily influenced by, for example, the logging, fishing and fur trade industries. The town was even nicknamed ‘Tough City’ due to the tenacity of its inhabitants.

In the past, visitors would travel to Tofino by steamer & now it is more accessible by ferry & air. You can take a ferry from the mainland to Nanaimo or Victoria & then drive to Tofino.

We had an amazing time on the hot springs tour, such a pretty place to visit. We loved the boat trip and the walk through the forest. Dave was an excellent guide, he gave us so much info and answered all our questions. Thank you!

Rooms were big. I asked for an upgrade for a nice view and it was of the parking lot, you couldn’t see the water because of a big ole tree. Had they put us on the 3rd floor we might have had a better view. So don’t pay to upgrade its not worth the extra $30.
Tofino is a beautiful sleepy fisherman’s town, that’s how I see it. Nice quiet little spot. It’s a short walk to some local pubs.

I’ve been on a few excursions in Tofino and the two that I did with TMR were the best. Both times the guides were experienced, engaging and attentive. Remote kayaking was a really unique experience. Instead of having to paddle out of Tofino, you are taken straight to the middle of such a tranquil and beautiful place. It was such a special trip.

Awesome experience with the sauna. Mack was super chill and professional - really knew what he was doing and took great care of us.

Nice, warm rooms, super clean, and VERY quiet.
I would add a couple of mugs on the table, the paper cups were leaking.
Overall, a very nice stay.

Nice rooms. Accommodating staff. Only thing is all the soap shampoo has a pine smell to it but got used to it. Would stay again.

Had a great 3 hr private tour with Howie, thoroughly enjoyed the Otters, Bald eagles, whale and plenty or birds. Beautiful scenery and knowledgeable Guide. Highly recommend.

The resort is okay. The gym is absolutely amazing with a great view so thats a plus. 1909 is also a great restaurant but not the best service but thats a trend in Tofino. (Don't expect good service in Tofino any where)

We paid for a deluxe view King room, they advertise it as a partial view of the harbour but from your room all you can see is the parking lot. If you step out on your deck and lean over the railing you can see a bit of water, should not be advertised as a "deluxe view. "

We went to make coffee our first morning in our, upon our first sip it tasted like vinegar. I opened the coffee maker and there was white powder in our coffee maker, turns out it was the cleaning tablet they use. I went to the front desk and asked for them to send someone to do a cleaning cycle and to deliver some more coffee. The lady at the front desk said "no ill just give you some more coffee. " Our coffee machine never got cleaned even though they changed our sheets that day, left a note on the machine and left it open where you could see the white tablet in the coffee machine. For what we paid I would've expected a little bit better service, at least a "sorry we will get it cleaned out for you. "

The walls are very thin you hear your neighbours upstairs, next door and across the hall, we don't really mind but others may.

We loved the Floating Sauna experience. Howie was great as our guide and Naomi as our server for the "Catch & Cook" option at 1909

We dined in as we have over the past few years. Super cozy with a great view of the marina. Naomi was our server again. She's so lovely, great recommendations and fun to spend the evening with!

We had a great time on the hot springs cove boat tour on January 2nd. Everything went very smoothly and our tour guide was fantastic! I guess we were lucky as we were the only ppl at the hot springs.

Worst experience, really bad service. I don't recommend this place, very noise, the power went out and they don't have a generator. They expected that you have to understand that the condition are like that. The room are freezing, no option to take a shower before you leave, no compensation. Definitely the worst place in the Island so far.

The room was quite small for the price. No bathtub, shower only. The view of the parking lot was less than desirable. Disappointed given the cost.

We can’t really sleep because of noises at midnight! I can’t even find someone in front-desk to deal with noisy people around! Very frustrating!

- the balcony has 2 chairs and gives you privacy and a unreal view, perfect for stargazing and sunset chasing

Rooms were clean-ish, motel room look and feel but resort hotel price.
View was not great, parking lots in front of rooms then a commercial courtyard on the water's edge.
The businesses on the waters edge were great and the view was Dynamite from there.

Well were staying here right now. Really not impressed with the price for what u get. The room smells like pee and the restaurant has nothing on the menu. Not sure how they get away with the prices. Very unfortunate as pictures make it look alot different

Superbe view of the water, very clean rooms and easy access to a variety of activities and restaurants both on site and at a 10min walking distance.

Very inconsistent food! 2 orders of olives and both different, mixed up orders, forgot order! So annoying! Heavy sauced food! Great location terrible food and service!

Only reason I am saying it was poor was because we could not reach anyone to answer our questions so we could book! I must have left 3 or 4 web messages and left at least 3 or 4 messages with reservations with no response! Obviously no customer service, would have been nice to be able to actually book!

We had a nice stay and appreciate the dog friendly rooms. Everyone was friendly and it was nice being close to Tofino.

Wow (the good kind)! My fiancée and I booked a tasting/tour with Matt at the Tofino Resort & Marina as a prospective location for our wedding. First, the Marina/inlet part of Tofino is incredibly beautiful, and is a must-visit. Second, the entire team at Tofino Resort & Marina (as well as 1909 Kitchen and The Hatch) were friendly, professional and made us feel like a part of the family. Third, the food was simply outstanding - flavours, presentation and styling. We were lucky enough to meet Chef Terry Somerville through the tasting where he guided us through a (generous) sample of his take on non-pretentious West Coast fine dining. Whether you post up at The Hatch Pub or dress up for a night at 1909 Kitchen, your food will be dished out by the same 5-star kitchen team. All in all, we had an amazing time, Tofino Resort & Marina has officially become a Tofino staple for us moving forward. Bravo, Tofino Resort & Marina!

Really pleased with the service I recieved through my stay, got upgraded to a suite with a view with no extra charges! Very happy to stay here, highly recommend.

Great place _ close to everything and their adventure center offers day trips with an affordable price.

Highly reccomend, came for a couples get away, and the front desk girl upgraded our suite NO CHARGE! TO A VIEW! Room was stunning, and comfortable, was very pleased and happy with the service and stay!

Clean and updated rooms and you have a good restaurant right next to the rooms and amazingly courteous staff! Shoutout to the receptionist Florence and her manager who helped us with booking our bear watching tour after a goof up!

Hotel did not allow us into our room till the late evening. Rooms were sub par at best—- bathrooms shower barely has any pressure. There are much better hotels in tofino than this. Not worth the
Cost.

Tofino Resort & Marina commits tax fraud and labour board violations. They are currently advertising a scam to hire a personal trainer to work for free, seven days a week, with no pay, in exchange for using the gym for free to train their own clients. The value of providing 7 classes a week is over $400 in the fitness industry. By doing this, they get to avoid paying payroll taxes and employee benefits while taking advantage of a skilled worker. In a tiny town of 2000, there's no way a trainer could ever make that kind of money back. I've reported them to the CRA and BC labour board. Stay away from this place!

My wife tried to set up a reservation for a future trip. Online there were packages of all kinds offered, so we thought we would be able to get the discounts that came with the packages. We tried Numerous times to book with the resort; emails and phone calls a plenty. It took damn near a month just to get a total- which surprise surprise there were no packages, discounted rates or anything included. Everything was full price (and more expensive than booking online). Clearly our money was not worth their time. This was a milestone trip for us and we got the most lack-lister service of any resort we chatted with. No one could collaborate with anyone to get us a quote. What an absolute embarrassment. We gave up even trying. I asked for a quote that was the final total, with taxes. I got a quote from the marina only, full price and the last line literally said “plus taxes”. Apparently no one can read the many emails with instructions as to what we were looking for and the fact we wanted a total price. If these are the first point of contact experiences, I’d be scared to see what the actual service was like

This ‘resort’ is a sideshow motel run by crooks. We booked a deluxe marina-view room with a balcony and were informed upon check in that we had been downgraded to a run-down first floor motel room with a nice big window for the entire parking lot to watch us sleep. And that they would not be able to issue us a refund for the downgrade. That is the literal definition of a scam. We are to this day still speaking with management trying to get our money back and are close to getting the RCMP involved.

None of the above even includes how rude and careless the hospitality staff around the resort are (housecleaning, restaurant staff, sports equipment rental staff, etc). Owner needs to fire current management asap if they want to maintain their ‘4 star’ average.

Beautiful place, comfortable stay and super friendly staff. We had such a lovely time and got to shoot a stunning sunset from the marina. So recommended!

Comfortable updated room.close to 5 star restaurant 1909 and booked a whale watching excursion all within the area by hotel.

Many services got reduced. We have someone staying right next to us so doesn't feel it's that save during Covid time

The only downside to this place is that once you arrive, you almost don’t want to leave. Having recently spent a stint in July here, we were able to see whales, bears, sea otters, and dolphins, while catching Coho salmon, Chinook salmon, Albacore tuna, Lingcod, and breaking our line on a Halibut.

It’s not just the ocean life that makes this place so special, it’s the people (guests and staff) that bring a buzz to the place, really creating a hub for locals and guests alike. The restaurants are great, and dinner is paired with beautiful views of the sun setting over the marina.

Overall, we left surprised at the wild variety of adventure this place provided, and the convenience with which you could access a variety of amenities. Impressive place, and it keeps getting better.

We loved it here! Excellent location and walking distance to lots in town. Beautiful waterfront property that has been renovated in a west coast theme. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we LOVED our adventure tour and our dinner at 1909. All around outstanding service by all staff from reception, to the marina to our server for dinner. I was really impressed and we will absolutely stay again. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Tofino!

1 Star, if there was an option of giving no star I would have done that.
Located at the perfect spot and a beautiful view. But regrets follow when you leave the view and turn to the room. Firstly, the place is advertised as pet friendly, but nowhere in the obvious description does it say that all rooms/suites are NOT pet friendly. Found that out the hard way after booking a suite, thinking ample space for humans and pets only to be told no pets in the suite. This is when we couldn't cancel the room and didn't find a pet friendly suite, at 10 pm. 1 person in our party had to sleep in the car to keep the dogs company since we didn't anticipate this mis-advertisement.
Secondly, the cleanliness of the suite was below standards. The blankets and towels had strands of hair stuck to them as if they had been left out from the washing regime prior to being placed in the suite. It was quite gross seeing that in a place of this standard.
Lastly, don't expect the suite to have amenities like normally suites have. For instance, a microwave!
The front staff was courteous and friendly, they understood our frustration but unfortunately they couldn't do anything for us.
Hope it's not taken as a negative review but a room for improvement for hotel management.

Lovely place with amazing views of the water and the mountains. The best restaurant in town the 1909 is a must dine.

Enjoyed excellent day of salmon fishing with lead guide Ryan on the Black Fish. Caught 5 chinook, 1 coho. Ryan organized processing and flash freezing 60lbs worth of fillets in Ucluelet and even drove our catch down. The gym at the resort is 10/10, clearly not an afterthought like so many hotels. While COVID made capacity an issue at all local restaurants in Tofino during our trip, we enjoyed a night at 1909 after making advance reservations. We hope to come back soon.

We booked a whale watching tour. Didn't see any whales and were asking for a discount for a secound time. They refused and we had to ask them three times. They guarentee on their website if u don't what u expect that you can come back for free, but say in person that there is no guarantee.
In the end they gave us a free tour 3 days later, but canceled it on the day we arrived again and just offered us another tour (bearwatching) or a voucher for the restaurant.

Tofino Resort and Marina's tour program is incredible. The Ultimate Adventure offers a wide range of options to truly take in the sights, history, culture and wildlife of the area. Our crew chose the crabbing and whale watching Ultimate Adventure and all agreed it was one of the best tours we've ever had. Our captain and guide was a wealth of knowledge of the area, the First Nation's history and respect of the land and sea as well as fascinating facts about the whales, sea otters and sea lions we encountered. We found the tour price very reasonable for everything we were able to do especially considering we took home 6 large crabs at the end of the trip. We had plans later that night so didn't take advantage of the "we'll cook your catch" option, but we did have some drinks and snacks at The Hatch pub after the tour and we were very impressed by how well local ingredients were incorporated into the menu. The smoked sablefish was off the charts! I'd recommend the Ultimate Adventure and restaurant to anyone. We'll be back again for sure!

I was to attend a wedding on August 16,2020 but due to the Covid 19 restricitions the wedding had to be cancelled. I cancelled my reservation and was still charged to cancellation fee. I was not informed of that when i made my cancellation request and though I know it is the policy of the resort it should be waived due to the restrictions set in place for social gatherings or at least ask if your if your cancellation fee can be donated to the local food bank or to a charity in the community. I think as a business you need to rethink your cancellation policy during our country's crisis.

Staff here are friendly, though could hear conversations with thin walls. Rooms are clean, and within walking diatance of food/shopping.

Last minute reservation and they fit us in. Stuck in Tofino due to inclement weather and road conditions.
Front desk staff delightfully pleasant and accomodating to stranded travellers with no luggage. Supplied us with tooth brushes and razor so we could clean up.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal in the pub, seafood chowder to die for, a delicious pizza giardino with a delicious bloody caesar and draft blonde beer on tap. Dessert was a tiramisu large enough to share and totally scrumptious!
We will definitely go back for a planned stay and sample in the many adventures offered by the resort!

We stayed here for a weekend and the experience was wonderful. The rooms are beautiful, the hotel overlooks the harbour, the restaurant in the hotel was amazing and had a great drink selection. Would highly recommend.

Great views on the marina. We stayed at the resort. The rooms are clean and the beds were good. Unfortunately the walls are so thin we could hear the neighbors dog walking the tiles. The shower produces a tiny bit of water.

Hotel room smelled like smoke. We thought initially it was because we left the patio door open and smokers were outside, but the smell persisted the next day even once we closed the door. The room was supposed to be nonsmoking but that means nothing if the air circulation picks up smoke from other rooms and circulates it into ours, which is what we suspect happened.

I recently booked a room with Tofino Resort & Marina online and then needed to cancel the reservation within 24-hours and they would not honor the gold standard 24-hour free cancellation policy. The reservation was 3 weeks out, and allows them to re-book in plenty of time. I won't be staying here in the future.

Was disappointed that the Hatch Pub Didn’t honour the half price appies that was advertised in hotels info package. As it is a renovated hotel with new info packages it seems odd that pub and hotel are not on the same page Rooms were not cleaned very well didn’t replace clean coffee mugs wet face clothes left in shower

Best Location in Tofino / Vancouver Island. Directly at the sea. Great views. Only a 10 Minutes Walk to the Center of Tofino.

Location is good, Rooms aren't the best - smelled like mold or mildew. Only had a tiny single shower in the bathroom until you upgrade to a king suite.

The Tofino Resort and Marina is a beautiful getaway on the South East end of Tofino. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Tofino and has a great view of the Tofino inlet and Strawberry Island.

The rooms are recently renovated and have great views. There is a bar located nearby, so noise can be an issue, especially on weekends. But there's also a bar nearby, so you can party late. The bar closes at 1: 00 am.

Be sure to check out the piers to watch for crabs, raccoons, fish, and other ocean life.

My partner and I stayed for a weekend at Tofino Resort + Marina and had an excellent trip – would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Tofino. The staff was exceptionally friendly and happy to provide us local tips, such as where we were permitted to have beach fires and get supplies! The rooms were clean, cozy and modern, incorporating a west coast aesthetic. The Hatch is a great place to go and grab happy hour drink and food, and sit on the patio with an incredible view of the harbour. Would highly recommend going for dinner at 1909 Kitchen – high quality food and great atmosphere.

The resort is also very conveniently located within a very short walking distance to the centre of town and a 10 minute drive to the beaches.

Would also recommend the hot springs tour with Ika! He was a very knowledgable guide and had great stories during our trip out to see whales, visit the hot springs, and tour around the coast.
