Had a new stylist Akram. He was amazing! Gave me a new hair cut I never would have thought of getting, but I trusted and it was the best choice cus I love my new style of hair. Don't get rid of this guy I need him when I come back next time.

Despite being short handed; staff (especially the woman at the front desk) worked really hard to make sure clients were taken care of and that people both there in person, checking in on the app, and got their haircut at the times they told us - which isn’t easy when you’re down two stylists!
She called me and had me come to the store ten minutes ahead of getting in, and I got in, got a great haircut and staff maintained a great attitude the whole time too.

Walked away with razor burn and a cut that’s two inches lower on one side. I’m a fairly easy going person but the one instruction I gave was make it look good. I was promised a fade and ended up with awkward tracks on the back. It’ll grow back but I’m stuck with this for a month or two given how short it ended up.

I went in to get a normal fade last January and was extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the results. The barber did not spend the time to listen to the cut I wanted to get. The haircut was near closing time so the barber was rushing to finish my cut as quick as he could. I told the barber 5 times and showed him images of the haircut that I did not want a skin fade but I wanted a normal fade. I ended up spending 40 dollars on a haircut and did not receive any refund. I do not think it was fair that I had to pay for a service that was different then what I had asked for. The customer service email never got back to me since January. I should have been granted a refund after this horrible experience. The photo on the left is what I received and the one on the right is what I asked for multiple times while showing the image to the barber.

Great communication and experience. I got exactly the cut I wanted and my wife loves it. Nikkie was attentive and her attention to detail during my haircut was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced while getting my haircut. Thanks to her, I am Christmas party ready!

I just got back from having an excellent haircut with Laura. Professional, friendly, and did an excellent job with my haircut. Despite being extremely busy dealing with impatient customers and manning the front desk simultaneously, she went above and beyond to put effort into her craft and service. Seriously impressed. I went here maybe a month ago and was wanting to write this review since my visit. I was very happy with my haircut and clean shave. I’m someone who has tried about 7-10 different barber shops till now, but was never really fully happy or satisfied with my cut. However, Elishka (hopefully that’s how it’s spelled) is great! She is very polite and fast yet proper in her work, usually when people pick up too much speed their work tends to get sloppy which is not the case with her. One of the best haircuts that I have actually been fully satisfied with in years! I’ve gone to other much hyped of places (not calling any names here) with just average haircuts, but Elishka’s work surpassed the average. I will definitely be coming here next time if I am able to get a hold of Elishka again. 5/5* for the experience and cut delivered.

Dissapointed. I showed the barber the picture of the hairstyle I wanted. The gave me a completely different one and I hated it. The barber said that It was tough to get the hair style that I asked for after the cutting of hair was finished. Gonna try a different place from now on.

Hello - while I am not comfortable releasing my full name; however, I am fine with expressing my concern for the service of this business.
Firstly, I've been coming to Tommy Gun's for 4 years, at least. In that time, I've had a bad cut (fixed promptly by a fantastic stylist/barber) ; however, the level of service and attention on Monday was atrocious.

I had requested an appointment, and was booked in for 3pm. As I arrived, the fella at the front greeted me and let me know it would be about 10-15 minutes before my appointment, and to walk around the mall (then be texted or called for my appointment). 30 minutes goes by, nothing.at this point, I'm sitting outside of the business - 45 minutes goes by. I see the fella sitting on the bench, on his own mobile; he then looks at me blankly and doesn't even recall who I am or what I'm waiting for.
After 1 hour of waiting, I asked if there's to be another hour of wait time or the 10-15 minutes?
His reply
"sorry, I'm not a barber - this is covid and we have 2 barbers on staff - I can't give you an accurate time frame. "

(there is more to the exchange but irrelevant to the goings on, but I will point out that the barber I was appointed to, seemingly had started someone in her chair RIGHT at 3pm when I was booked in)

In the end, yes - we are ALL navigating covid/pandemic related issues. I've been going to Tommy Gun's prior to the pandemic and throughout. There are more barbers than indicated above and the service is generally pretty on point. I have ZERO issues with the stylists/barbers.
However, this experience was so ridiculous - and lack of attention was frustrating; as well, being cognizant of your customers wait times. (at the very least, apologize for the wait.don't give out excuses for poor time management).

I will not be back, I have found a much better experience in town. (especially if your front end staff has frosted tips. DANGER ALERT)

I arrived at 4: 32 pm and was asked if i had an appointment
Considering they are suppose to be a walk in barber shop
When i said no
The receptionist said come back tomorrow
The shop closes at 6pm
There were two barbers sitting there doing nothing
And no one else was around for their appointments and no line up
This was a friday night she told me to call in first thing in the morning
I have called in every morning at 10 am for 4 weeks and no one ever answers the phone
If this is how Ron the owner allows his Salons work
I told the receptionist to inform Ron I will not be back
They are very high priced and seem to be really picky about their clientele
Unfortunately I have a real full time job and do not have time for snotty little people.
I waited almost 10 minutes before the receptionist got back from doing whatever she was doing in the hillside mall.
Hey Ron I guess you pay your staff to go shopping on your time.

Service was excellent and the checkin system is great to know ahead of time how long the wait may be, and get other stuff done while you wait. Place is very clean, has a good vibe and the haircuts are great!

I had the worst experience of my life in this branch of Tommy Gun. I have been to Station Street's branch in Burnaby many times and I was satisfied every time, but here, oh I would never go here again.

Cuts are great and exactly as asked for, but lately really poor time management in terms of estimates. I totally get that this is a first come first served, but when a staff member actually gives a time, waiting another 30 minutes is frustrating. I've been coming for four years, and been steadily getting worse. Will update this after a few more attempts.

Although the folks cutting hair are always nice - having a different person cutting your hair (either b/c they move on lots there or they aren't working that day) makes for really inconsistent hair cuts.

Have been a regular for a few years. Turnover in their top barbers is the problem. Inconsistent cuts and failure to give what’s asked even for the most basic requests with a picture.

It is very hard to find someone who can cut a very tight square flat top. My barber of 20 years who I still like and does a good job, was not available and I needed a cut, so I took a chance and it paid off! I got an epic flat top, down to the detail! The military discount was the icing on the top. The price was more than reasonable for the wash and cut. I will be going back and requesting my barber/ stylist! Thanks!

I bought a shampoo (Nioxin 1) for $64 plus taxes on Saturday. Later I found out that the exact same shampoo and volume is only $31 at Walmart.

I wanted to return it but the employee would not and wanted me to talk the manager. I talked to the manager and read their return policy off of their website. The website says I can return any product if I am not happy with it, even if I have used it. I had barely left the store, had not opened the shampoo and yet I cannot return it. I feel like I was ripped off.

I suggested they at least price match the product and they refused.

I definitely don't recommend them to anybody. I will never shop there again and I will share my experience as much as possible.

I went there today and had Leandro cut my hair for the second time. He is a nice guy who certainly knows his stuff. I am super particular with how I like it done and he took the time to listen to me so he could do it properly and in a timely manner. Will be going back again next time I need a trim.

The haircut itself was decent and the fellow who did it was personable, but when they told me I had to buy their $2 mask I felt ripped off. Firstly, the ineffective, cheap masks are only 20 cents to purchase. To sell them for $2 is essentially price gouging, and BC has created some pretty serious fines for doing that during the pandemic. The idea of wearing a mask is to protect your staff and customers, not create a new source of revenue for your business. Secondly, if the masks are not provided for free, that should be stated on their website so I can bring my own. I know complaining about $2 sounds petty, but so is charging your customers that for a. 20 cent item.

So I went to ask for appointment in an empty shop for my 8 yr old who refused to go to attend his Lizzy Lee ‘s appointment as the shop looked very girly, and their blondie manager Mariah flatly refused by saying its a 3 hour wait! In an empty shop! I clarified myself that we don’t need one today but for future but she kept on repeating it’s a three hour wait and you can ring before coming. I feel very disappointed and find it as racial discrimination!

Have always had great haircuts here with great staff. The thing i really appreciated was the first come first served approach which has allowed some flexibility in booking. Recently though I have found myself getting bumped further and further down the wait list without understanding why.ie register online at 10 am for next available barber and by told there is a 1 hour wait. When i come at 1 hour, i suddenly find that the wait is now 2 more hours. It turns out that the store allows people to bypass the queue by phoning in and requesting.specific times. This then bumps those who have used the official app and process down the line. TG’s if you want to use an appointment booking process, please do so. Don’t endorse and advertise a system that can be manipulated.

Been here twice and thoroughly disappointed both times.

I come here when I am unable to get ahold of my usual barber. It is close and convenient for me and not much more than I usually pay. I am the kind of guy that enjoys getting his hair cut, and even though I don't really care if it is PERFECT, I do care if it looks good. I have no doubt that there are very talented Barbers here, I just have yet to have my hair cut by one of them.

I will start off by saying the barber I had was very nice. We talked shortly about how I wanted my hair to be cut, and they were very polite while offering their own opinions as well. I will admit, I am terrible at describing what I want when getting my hair cut. To counteract that I always show my barbers pictures of exactly what I want. I will just say the haircut I have now looks absolutely nothing like what I wanted. The fade I was given is full of ridges and does not line up all the way around, it is also not blended at all so I can't wear it the way I want to. On top of all that, my barber took FOREVER. By the time my barber started trimming my bangs the coworker in the chair beside me had already finished with THREE DIFFERENT CUSTOMERS. It was almost two hours by the time I had paid and was leaving the store.

I understand the draw to get you hair cut from this barber shop, it is advertised as a "quality barber shop for rugged men, " and you feel cool walking in and out of the store front. Unfortunately, the barbers that I have had there don't really live up to the advertising. I have had haircuts three thousand times better from barber shops for half the price. For anyone considering going here I would opt to save my money and go to either First Choice, or Island Haircutters, or pay a little more and get an actual haircut from a local barber that knows what they're doing.

Wait times are very long, and the estimate wait times given are normally off by 30+ minutes. Had some really good haircuts here, and the odd bad one, depends on the staff, which seams to change quite often

Girl just butchered my childs hair! Crooked lines. Noticeably different lengths. Took way too much off the top for a simple clean up. Wanted to leave the side long when we asked for it to be short. Doesn't know how to fade! Ridiculous

I checked in using the app at around 330 in the afternoon. Then came to the mall and walked around doing some Christmas shopping. It said my wait time is about an hour and a half so after waiting an hour and a half I went to Tommy Gun’s and it said my wait was still an hour. Understandably they were very busy but after I brought my concern up with the hostess she got me in right away. I enjoy coming to Tommy gun because they have great customer service and offer great haircuts.

Last minute walk in appointment with my 4 year old boys was super convenient. The stylists were great with the kids. Cartoons on a tv right inside the mirror! Only reason not 5 stars was a little pricey for toddlers, although well worth it in my mind.

Had a very pleasant experience at this place today. Went in for a haircut, came out with a haircut. While waiting for your turn you have the option of taking a drink from their mini fridge in the corner of the entrance. You have many different plans to chose from for what treatment you would like, and it is very clear on what plan is what price. The workers are very nice and talkative, very well at explaining what they are doing and show a good understanding of what you want from them. Absolutely no pressure to tip at the checkout, which is convenient for me, and actually inspired me to tip! Had a very nice experience overall and I will definitely be back in the future for another haircut.

Yesterday I was told it was a 2 hour window first come first served. Or go on line. So today I go online and cant get in. I called and they are short staffed. Maybe 4 hrs. Who does this at barber shops. Lost my business and have nothing good to say about them now.

I've checked in online with a wait time of approximately 1hr34mins. Arrived at shop 45 minutes later to be told I was second last in line with a wait time of approximately 2hr30mins.

Online check-in needs to be overhauled, as it doesn't even have a way to confirm you've been checked in, and it's not accurate. Would also be nice to be able to see the waiting list online that is posted in store.

Great service, amazing staff and top quality hair cuts. Only reason its not a 5 star rating is that they don't allow for appointment/reservations and wait times can be unpredictable at times. A daily time slot first thing in the morning open for appointments would be very convenient. I normally have to check in online and then wait an hour or two before heading there. But being able to check in online is very convenient.

I've gone to Tommy's since first chopping off my locks and sporting a pixie 4 years ago.today was super upsetting, and it had nothing to do with the staff. Perhaps a miscommunication somewhere? The haircut that I usually get (a full treatment wash, trim, and dry) is pretty affordable here, and I really value that as a student and young adult living that #roughlife. I've really loved tommy gun's staff's work in the past, and everyone is always lovely! I like to think I tip in a reflection of my experience, and that's always been generous in the past! Today I was a little confused after getting an undercut shaved with a design (I know that's a little more) and a "trim" which consisted of her running her fingers through, followed by the comb, and then trimming a few cm here and there. I mean. I get it, my hair looks nicely trimmed up and shaped. I love Tommy's for their full treatment haircuts etc, and I don't mind paying for it, but I didn't even get a shampoo let alone one of your "master" scalp massages. After shaving my undercut and doing a little arrow type design up the back (so lovely, it really looks so cool and it's awesome work!) the barber blow dried my hair and then basically blow dried me away.where was the trim? Oh somewhere before or after the blow dry I couldn't even tell you! Now.here's the thangggg. I've had worse experiences. Not at Tommy's, but in general. This was pleasant for what it was.but it was NOT $40 worth of pleasant! I GAWKED! And that's WITH a 10% student discount! I had to verify with the receptionist, who assured me she just does what they tell her to which like dude I getcha, I work on retail too, but jesus you're really gouging me here! I would please like this justified to me, where the 40$ comes from? And how, goodness how, can you justify my experience to be worth $40? ! I'm sorry Tommy's, I could not even afford to tip today, and may not be returning.

I have been here once. I am very happy with my hair cut. Got exactly what I asked for. The only downside is that the wait times can be a little long. Got there at 9: 30 and the wait time was a little over an hour. On the flip side they do text you when is your turn, so there is the option to do other errands in the mall while you wait.

Go see Abel at the Hillside location. I found him at the Westshore mall location originally and he is seriously a specialist. Best cut I've had bar none. Now he's at Hillside and although it takes me 30 min to drive there from Langford wouldn't consider going elsewhere for a second. I look better after every visit! Do what u gotta do to keep this guy Tommy Guns cause although I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and the free bevy, when he goes I go:)

I called they booked my bf for 6: 15 when we arrived they said half hour to 45 min more to wait' came back in 45 and was told MAYBE 20 more minutes and that they dont take appointments. There were 4 girls working and 2 of them it took to answer phones and feed bull to their customers. Wont come back ever' will go to a real barbershop next time and I would give zero stars if it was an option. Waisted an hour in the mall when I could have been driving somewhere else and now everythings closed.
