Trattoria Burnaby

I come here for the truffled spaghetti, while my vegetarian boyfriend enjoys the Mushroom Arancini. It's our casual go-to spot.

The food isn’t good here. Had a conversation with my coworker recently and remembered visiting nearly two years ago. He mentioned his recent visit and said nothing has changed. They need a new cook. One of the worst tasting meals I’ve had from a sit down restaurant ever. Ordered a fish, rice and veggie dish.

We arrived around 7pm on a Monday evening with no reservation. I’d recommend making a reservation, or you will be likely seated at the bar or a window high-top.
This was more of a quicker meal for us and we didn’t consider this as an experience. We ordered the Caesar salad, prosciutto, and pasta platter.
Caesar salad - more of a run of the mill Caesar salad with packaged croutons, but still good!
Prosciutto - I’d say this dish is overpriced but the forno bread that comes with this starter was quite lovely.
Pasta platter - I’ll keep it concise. This is the best bank for your buck. All delicious, though we preferred some more than others.
PS: we were offered fresh grated Parmesan table-side, which was a great benefit.
We only finished half of it and packaged the rest for home!

Service was wonderful! Sadly, the caprese salad I ordered with chicken was rather disappointing. The dish was $25 and all I got was 1.5 underripe tomato with at most 2-3 oz of underwhelming chicken. Now, I get caprese salad is just tomato, basil and mozzarella, but either charge half the price or make sure the ingredients are out of this world.

I had an amazing dinner on Tuesday night. Parisa, my server was amazing and she catered to my every need. Luke the manager stopped by and made sure everything was going well which we loved. He is very knowledgeable in wine and food. The overall experience was very enjoyable and I would really recommend.

Cheap food quality, not Italian. Expect an American greasy version of everything.
Amazing staff though.

We’ve been here twice and both times our experience was really good. The service is fast and very friendly. Food is delicious and atmosphere is very nice ambiance. Happy hour has some really good options. Tiramisu is must try.

Got here on a pasta Tuesday during happy hour (timing or date not intentional so I was pleasantly surprised!) - all pastas are $16 on Tuesdays- good to know! Also all wine is $6 on Tuesdays apparently (I was told this verbally). Happy hour from 2-5,9-close. This was my third time here. Always a pleasant experience but this time I basically got private dining (got a whole back room to myself - they just seated me here rather than the main dining area and no complaints from me)! If you are going to do pasta Tuesdays, make sure you make a reservation as it started to get busy after 5: 30pm. Ordered the house red wine, Burrata Crostini, Rustico pizza and crispy mushroom gnocchi - the latter 2 were to-go orders. The Burrata Crostini came in 3 pieces and it was great. Not a lot of vegan / vegetarian options but they are always willing to make modifications upon request.

Came upon Trattoria Burnaby by accident. Very happy we stopped there. Food was great and service was excellent. It was a quick lunch and well worth it. Recommended

I like the Tuesday $16 pasta deal, but the pastas weren’t amazing. The hostess told us we were added to the waitlist, but when we checked back 20 minutes later she said the name got taken off, which was confusing and strange. I’m glad we got a table pretty quickly afterwards, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Wanted to love it as we've heard good things, but unfortunately, the food just wasn't good. Our mussels had a strong odour that bled through to the sauce making them inedible. The meatball spaghetti with truffle sauce was bland and over reduced. The carbonara was nearly tasteless. The server was lovely, and it's a beautiful location. Hope it was an off day for them. Likely won't be back to find out.

I went here today for lunch and was blown away with the quality and portion size of the food.
The pasta items comes out looking great and the prices are affordable. Great atmosphere, great food and excellent staff. Shout out to the Executive Chef for an amazing meal and to Carmela for making our visit wonderful. And to our server who I forgot her name (Sorry coz I'm busy eating) Thank you for taking care of us.

Service was great, I had the seafood special but the seafood was not fresh and the pasta felt like it was out for a while since some was sticking together. The dish also lacked broth and flavour.

Went last Tuesday July 11 for their $16 pasta deal. My wife had the vegetarian mushrooms gnocchi and she got food poisoning! Puking all night as a result! Unbelievable. Will be reporting to public health. I had the spaghetti meatballs and it was quite good to be fair and no food poisoning for me.

Food is good. I sat on the middle of upper floor, and it's dark and noisy. I could hear people talking from the other tables except my folks.

The food was great. I reserved for 12 people and had to pay $250 deposit. I was then asked to sign a contract and after I had put down my deposit I was told there would be an administrative fee of 1%. After these initial dealings I felt very uncomfortable
about being treated as a dishonourable human. I would definitely not recommend this place for a group and I will not eat there again. There are many great restaurants in Burnaby that treat you with respect. Shame on Trattoria.

The dine out menu was the best one that I’ve tried this season. I recommend enjoying their happy hour options.

We had great food and great server, Steve! He was very informative and helpful in suggesting what to order as it was our first time there. He is pretty funny too lol when I asked his name, he said he is Carl if we had a bad time and Steve if we had good time Prices of food were a little bit pricey but worth it. Overall great experience!

The fennel sausage pasta was really tasty, but the pasta was all stuck together. I don't usually mind al dente, but there were clumps of 6 or 7 pasta stuck together, so there was no space for the sauce to balance the doughiness of the bite. Service was excellent though, friendly and very detailed about the dishes and specials.

Place is very nice. Ordered the focaccia and it was amazing. I ordered the Carbonara and it was very good but the eggs were scrambled in the sauce. They were not tempered and the sauce wasn’t creamy as much as it was slightly curdled. The pasta cooked perfectly and it was still very tasty.

The first time we went here was amazing. I took my wife here for a little date. The food was amazing alone with the atmosphere. We planned to go here again but haven’t for sometime as we are busy with our children. We finally decided to go recently and invited one of our close friends to share the greatness. Unfortunately after Covid it seemed like it was really different. One of the things that really upset us was what my friend had ordered. When he got his margarita pizza it only came with sauce. No cheese. The service was less then satisfactory. Our server seemed to judge us, maybe because we seemed young or that we weren’t dressed in fancy attire. We showed up in gym clothes as there is GoodLife gym within the same building. We of course did not tip. The server didn’t seem to like this and just took the machine and walked away.

Came here on a Tuesday for pasta, the prawn pasta was so delicious and our server Steve made us feel very welcome and was very professional! Would recommend!

Got a delivery with 9 dollar burrata. It was the size of a small container of sauce.
No happy.

I think they have good food but quality control in the kitchen is a problem. I went yesterday with work colleagues and there was a big piece of glass or hard plastic inside my entree order of risotto aranchini. I was blown away this could happen in such an establishment.

They apologised and comped the order but I don't think this is acceptable in a food establishment. I had bitten into it when I found it and am sitting here hoping no permanent damage happened as a result of this incident. The Aranchini balls were very hard on the exterior as well. I hope the management tightens up Quality control in the kitchen.

Ambience, and customer service was great. The pasta that I had tasted amazing but the the meatballs were okay, but other than that I would definitely come back

I don't think you are supposed to get drunk off of Risotto. The lamb shank itself was quite delicious and slid off the bone, that said, I wish the risotto had some additional flavours. The taste of wine overpowered everything else. Less wine and maybe some mushrooms would have been nicer.

Definitely not spending that amount of money at this place ever again.

I got Rigatoni and spaghetti Carbonara and oh god, smells and tastes so bad. I’m not sure why this restaurant serving poor quality food compared to other Global’s restaurants.

I got the fried thing i forgot what’s it’s called and it was a little cold and the sauce was so saucy it lost the fried texture at the end it looks good but fails to finish: (get the spaghetti and meatballs though it looks fire

Absolutely exceptional - the quality of food and level of service is unmatched. My favourite Italian restaurant in the west coast!
