I tried their Hainanese Chicken Rice which is a Malaysian signature dish but quite disappointed.

I took my family and a visitor from out of town to Tropika because we had good memories of it years ago. The food and service was impeccable, but I found it strange that the vegetarian menu had several dishes with shrimp paste or products, so I had to ask for them to take it out. It would also be ideal if they closed at 10pm instead of 9pm as we only started eating at 8pm and last call for food was around 8: 40pm. The Maps app on my iphone said they closed at 1030pm but I see that has changed online.

BBQ chicken fried rice had a smell in the meat.
Dried fish was salty.
Expensive for average taste food.

Service was great. Food is mostly prepared chinese style instead of Malaysian but it was still really good.

Such a staple in the community! I really love South East Asian cuisine. Tropika delivers its own specific take and it's tasty! Lunch specials are generally a good deal but dinner pricing is nothing crazy. Go give them a try!

Coming from England, we always look at the reviews of where we want to go. This restaurant had mixed reviews from excellent to downright awful. Anyway, we decided to try it, the staff were welcoming, friendly and informative. The food we chose to eat was very tasty and you got plenty so we were glad we went there

I ordered take out, it was very fast service. I enjoyed the hainanese chicken with rice. It was delicious. Good portion for one person.

I have to comment on their take-outs. Very well packed and the food is still hot after 5 hours! I love their Thai style ox-tail hot pot, so juicy and the meat is so tender. I have ordered twice before and never disappointed me.

Foods were ok ish. Not as good as they used to be.

Service, sucks big time.
Based on our last few visits, Majorities of the Staffs there has this very awful attitude towards customers.

To a point that it seems like they don't like or don't need customers.

Hopefully they change the service friendliness and maybe we'll try again.
But for now, we're not going back.

Dining room is spacious and tables set up to provide some privacy for diners. Servers friendly and food very good. Service very prompt. One of my favorite places to dine out.

Food is good and hearty and the flavours are amazing. Been coming here for years and it still delivers. Tropika is a Vancouver staple. Just maybe work a bit on not forgetting a dish!

Definitely worth a try.solid food.but the volume is getting less than before.and have to pay the box and bag if you need pack the leftovers.

This place sadly has gone down hill in the last decade. The food is just not good, especially for the price. Service is unresponsive. Used to be a favorite, won't go back.

Meh food with meh service. I ordered a seafood fried rice and had to dig for the seafood. There's probably 1 shrimp and 1 squid used in the dish, and yet it cost 20 bucks. Not coming back.

Rude servers. No changing table for children. When asked what was a parent to do if they a stinky diaper to change, was told they "figure it out". The bathrooms are single stalled and tiny. With hard stacked chairs in a cold hallway, is where i assume they "figure it out". Food is good but a great experience.

It's been years since our last visit. This is still one of the most authentic Malaysian food one can find in Vancouver.

Ordered dinner combination B and D and soup. The sweet and sour soup tasted like pure soy sauce. The chicken and the beef tasted so bad and old, we spat it out in our napkin. The wings were hard as rock. We got no service and I left no tip cause of our disappointment but the waiter pointed out that I didnt tip. What a disaster Tropika

Meh. Service is efficient but very cold. I was the only customer but somehow still got served after about 10 minutes. I just don't think they care very much. The food is fine but there's nothing here to make you want to come back

Pad Thai is made with ketchup, not described on the menu - we returned it without expectation of a refund or exchange. Prices have gone up way too much for what you get and the portion sizes. Understandably with the times, but more than expected. Not sure if I would go back.

Food is terrible. The prices are outrageous for what it is. Comparable to bad and oily food court food. Doesn't even taste close to what it should taste like. Service is not good and awkward. Would not recommend.

Worst place ever. Dont even think about feeling like your gonna get a bang for your buck. $72.58 for something like this.

I came here for dinner with my parents expecting to get a decent meal but this was FAR from being decent. We ordered the Rendang Beef but they gave us a tiny bowl of soggy curry beef that was basically bathing in salty liquid. This is nothing like what we had of this dish in other places and a search of what an authentic Rendang beef also clearly shows that this is not what it’s supposed to be. It’s not wet like this. We showed and asked the servers and they were so rude brushing it off saying “that’s how it is” and walked off not wanting to say anymore to us. We also ordered a Pad thai and this dish just completely ruined our appetite. It was so incredibly tasteless it just tasted like it was mixed with diluted ketchup. The chicken dish in the combo meal tasted like overnight chicken that was put back into the wok to be reheated. It was extremely dry and not fresh. The shrimp was still cold! Overall, nothing we ordered were even acceptable and of good quality considering how expensive each dish was. The servers were not friendly. We are never coming back again.

I had been going to Tropika for years and felt it was better than Banana Leaf.went there last week and the taste has gone down. New ownership I heard and maybe even new cook.as even the peanut sauce doesn't taste the same. The quality and taste does not match the price imo.

We always love having our family meals here and have discovered their takeouts are just as good! Their roti (and dipping curry) is still one of the best in town for us and we love their dry curry black cod!

When Tropika was in Calgary I went there all time cuz I loved their roti. But then it closed down. Ever since I’ve been searching for a place that made it as good as them. Well now I moved to Vancouver and I saw this show up on skip the dishes. So glad I ordered from them. It’s the same! I had no idea there was a tropika in Van! So happy. I ordered take out and the food was delish! Well definitely order from here again and go check out their location for some crispy, flakes roti!

I thought their food was way better when they had the Richmond branch, not bad though, just a wrong expectation or maybe order the wrong choice (had pad Thai & indo rice combo), filling though & reasonable prices.

The table we sat at was dirty and sticky, just like their super sticky floors. Curry beef was pretty good (flavourful and tender). Chicken in the combo was over cooked, burned and hard to chew. Waiter was a little rude, definitely unfriendly and unhelpful. I’d recommend the curry beef and that’s it.

Have not been back for many years, still as good as I remembered. Rich flavorful dishes. Reasonable pricing, found free parking out front which is almost unheard of nowadays in Vancouver lol.

We went there to enjoy our lunch, after we had paid with our credit card, i checked my pockets and i had no cash, as i usually like to leave cash tip, but unfortunately, i didn't bring any cash. After we paid, the male worker said "there is no tip here, In Canada we tip" i was shocked with this comment, he forced us to use our credit card to leave a tip after we had already paid, as i felt intimidated by him. I'm a Canadian Citizen, but not born in Canada. My husband called the restaurant later to ask for manager and owner, this same person said they are not there.i will be contacting the owner again, unless it was the owner that was the one who demanded the tip? Nobody wants to help us!

Great food, great taste. The portion is also good. We ordered the char kuey teow, sambal bunchies, kari lambu and sticks of satay chicken and pork. For tow, this was definitely a bit too much so we took home some. Good job social distancing all the tables in the restaurant.

Just went there for lunch today. Fairly busy for the situation we are in (covid19). I totally don't get why it's even busy because the food doesn't taste very good. Average price.

Tropika is one of the few Malaysian/Indonesian/Singaporean restaurant in the city which I know has been a long standing institution. They offer classic dishes of this part of the world fairly consistently, but I also find they are consistently overly salty with their flavouring. The clam soup is one of my favourite, but I usually can't have more of it after small bowl because it gets too salty. Hoping the owners see this and improve on it! Their meat skewers are amazing with their peanut sauce. Their vegetables made the Malay style is also quite authentic, and reminds me of the same dish at hawker stands in Singapore. Service isn't great and pre-COVID the dining experience was quite loud and crowded, but my company and I would go because of the food. One of the hidden gems is their hot and sour soup which is better than most Shanghainese restaurants in the city - it is amazing! Again to the owners, please consider making your dishes a little less salty but otherwise highly recommend!

Tropika has been around for a long time if i remember correctly. They used to have many locations, but I think they closed some of them over the years.

Tropika has been one of my favourites, their dishes are flavourful and good place for families.

I always order their chicken satay, prawn cakes, pompano fish, pine apple fried rice and pork chops. I think those are my go to dishes.

Their roti is also not bad, but personally not my taste.

The restaurant used to get very busy and loud before covid-19. Service is very typical Asian restaurant, ie you have to flag down servers to get things. But food comes out fairly quickly and servers responds very promptly.

I hope they don’t close more locations as it’ll be a shame to lose this restaurant from this city’s dining scene.

Always have a good experience at Tropika. Great service, great food. I do take out one or twice a month to support them during covid.

Food is always on point, roti canai best I've tasted anywhere in the lower mainland. Love the pineapple fried rice.

Had a silverfish in my tea, discovered only after we had drank the entire pot.but, it is ok.they took it off the bill? ! They were mildly apologetic.
The food was ok, but, in the end, a lot less than ok, the bug, really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Great food and good service in a nice quiet atmosphere. Suitable for quality conversation. Service was smooth and unobtrusive. Recommended for Thai/Malaysian food par excellance.

2975 Cambie Street near 14 Avenue in the west side of Vancouver and at 5300 #3 Road Richmond unit 322 inside the Landsdowne Centre Mall.
We had made reservations at the Vancouver location.
They specialize in Malaysian and Thai cusine.
We ordered the lamb curry, pad Thai, beef roll, roti, and pineapple fried rice. Each dish was cooked to perfection and served piping hot.
The waiters were attentive and friendly. Our guests and were impressed. Visa and Mastercard accepted.

Good sized Asian style restaurant across the bridge from downtown. It is mostly meat items on the menu but there was a vegetarian combo I tried and liked. My friends also enjoyed their meals as well.

On my hunt for vegan laksa, I tried Tropika and asked if they could prefer a vegan version of their curry laksa. They agreed after I peppered them with questions regarding what would be in it. The food came out in less than 5 minutes and was a huge bowl - delicious noodles, with lots of different veggies, and tofu, with a tremendously spicy broth. This restaurant is generally on the more expensive side, but their laksa is well-priced at $11.50 plus tax. Service wasn't particularly friendly, but I appreciate the effort they made to alter the laksa to my standards. Recommended for vegans if you don't mind asking a dozen questions to customize your order. Fine food.

What a great place to have authentic Malaysian cuisine. The waiters were very attentive and the food came out quickly. A lot of variety as you can see from the pictures and glad I was able to try so many different dishes. I ended up taking a lot back home!

I like their satay sticks more than other places but the price is high. The curry is good but I’ve had it better at other places. Similarly the pineapple fried rice is tasty but not outstanding.

My fav place for tom yum soup in Vancouver! The spicy and sour soup is the best dish to keep body warm! Tofu is also a must-order!

Tried their lunch set with extra $1.5 for regular drinks. Was a bit hesitated at first but it came around as a good deal in terms of food quality, price and portion! Public parking is not bad either.

I ordered here through Skip the Dishes. I ordered their Grilled pomfret fish with sundried shrimps and its amazing with their eggplant dish.their famous beef red curry and mussels in coconut milk did not disappoint as well. Everything is tasty and cooked right.

Been going for years had not been for at least a year. The food has deteriorated will not bother to return!

Food was pricey and portions were quite small. Flavour was mediocre, the old Richmond location was much better.

Overpriced. $60 for lunch and only 3 dishes. Manager needs to smile more often and be more attentive.

Best roti around! Amazing food and great service. Quick service. Decor is a bit dated but the food is amazing and flavorful.

I ordered the green beans, chicken curry, salt and pepper prawns and roti. I enjoyed the beans the most. Quite delicious! The prawns were still in their shell which I find is always a bit of a hassle when eating. The flavour was still good though. The curry was my least favourite.

An excellent and popular Malaysian and Thai restaurant that has been around for a long time. Very convenient location with spacious space and comfortable environment. Service is excellent. Must try.

If you like the food with curry and spicy, here is good choose. The tofu, noodle, skewers and fried rice are delicious, chicken wings not so good, services very good.

Late review. Definitely not authentic Malaysian, the food isn't great, and overpriced. Also, they served us romaine lettuce during the outbreak. I do not recommend.

So happy to see that their richmond location has closed. They always hire the worst staff with attitude problems. Definitely will not be visiting them ever again.

The sambal crab is very delicious. The satay skewers are my favorite. The service is friendly and efficient.

I ordered green curry chicken which was delicious. Rice didn't come with the meal. The next day I went back and ordered BBQ ribs. I was a little disappointed bc it came on a bed of lettuce as a garish. One slice of tomato, and one slice of cucumber. There was only 5 ribs and cilantro as a garish. It didn't come with vegetables or rice. As a result, I feel the price was a bit high for the amount of food. The food came out very quickly which was a plus.
