I love this very cozy/intimate space. Everybody gets to be close to the stage. It has to be one of the oldest music venues in Vancouver. Recently revived, but generations of music lovers have come here to listen in the past.

Cool space but it is a bit cramped. Not enough seats meant that quite a few people were standing.

It is located in a historic building with a lot of character and stories, which adds some intrigue to the venue.

I went to a Jazz performance with some talented musicians, but the music was more experimental than I expected and the performance was relatively short.

Apparently Fridays are the best time to go because their best performers and most significant events occur then so I would check out the space then!

A highly recommended venue if you want to hear super talented musicians playing jazz and innovative jazz-adjacent music in a small and intimate space. This room is regaining its past aura: all the greats from the 50s and 60s used to hang-out there, it used to be the green room for after the show. Yes, we are talking about people like Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, and other super stars who actually played the grand piano that is still being used today. Just tell the doorman that you are coming for Tyrant Studios, and walk up the stairs to go to the room above the famous strip club. Tyrant Studios is something completely different. There is a great lounge and bar area just behind the performance room, so it's great to watch shows and/or chat with friends in a very cool ambiance.

One of my all time favorite venues to both patronize and play at. The staff is incredible, the entertainment is always top notch, and the vibe is great.

So you vet musical talent based on what now? Can you publish the complete list of criteria? For any future talent you book, should we scrutinize their views or sense of humor prior to coming to listen to their music? You might think I'm politically foolish and you'd be right - I've had many regrets about who I've supported in the past. But I'm thinking you have a tyrant for an investor and we know who I'm referring to. BTW - if you rebook John Stetch and he accepts, make your announcement on Rebel News and your place will be full and all will be forgotten. I was very disappointed to hear what you did.

One of THE spots to hear live music in "Vancouver. " There is a unique atmosphere in the room that can't be compared to any other club in town. Laid-back, cool and eclectic. I have been lucky to perform there many times in all sorts of bands, and have always found that any artistic direction we pursued was embraced by both the hosts, and the crowd they attract.

Especially these days with the addition of the "New Thing" series co-presented by Tyrant and beloved production brand "The Infidels, " you never know what you're gonna get at this place, and that's a beautiful and special thing.

Fantastic live music venue! We always love visiting this gem. A truly unique spot. Awesome vibe and atmosphere. This space is an important part of Vancouver’s jazz history and continues to support the thriving community. Check it out!

Very interesting and intimate place. The musicians we listened to were extremely talented and experimental.

If you want a dive Jazz Club with great live bands, AND a strip club at the same venue, that is your place.

Big scam! Spent 70 bucks on their website for a Friday stand up comedy show night. The place was closed. Stayed an hour walking around the building, knocking at every door until someone from the night club come open the main door. He told us the theatre was closed. I left many voice messages and sent many emails to get a refund. Nobody has never got back to me! Very very sad to be left with no answers. I would have been open to the idea of a contribution for the Art sector during these hard times but it looks owners are taking the money without delivering any shows.

Cozy spot. Be prepared for lots of audience participation during comedy shows since it's a very small venue. We don't like that sort of thing so we ended up leaving early in the show.

It’s great what this company has done with this space. The Penthouse is one of the few historic venues left in Vancouver and the upstairs space is so intimate, fun and cool to experience. Minimal bar, but friendly staff and quality music and comedy.

Amazing room full of unique history. Worth a weekly visit for Friday night jazz or Saturday night comedy

Amazing place for live music. Jazz especially. I’ve been there several times already. It’s quite small (20 seats?)
