The stops have the best views of the route, it is worth it, consider carrying water to hydrate yourself along the way, and in this winter climate, at sunset a good coat, as the wind feels cold
Nice hike that is doable for young and old. Duration approx. 50-60 minutes with many small sealing points on the more. Very nicely laid out and with beautiful views. It is best to park at the lighthouse parking lot. Toilets rather rustic.
Nice walk of over 2.5 km with an occasional increase but relatively easy. You pass the lighthouse, with a beautiful view in clear weather. Also occasionally take a descent down to the beaches, which is definitely worth it. We were there with a lot of fog but it was still worth it
Its a great hour/two hour walk for all ages and four legged friends. Beautiful scenery and you feel relaxed and you get your work out in in a lighter way.
Très belle randonnée. Pas trop difficile et avec plusieurs points de vue. Il y avait sans blague au moins 25 points de vue se qui énorme. Mais sinon c'était très beau.
Nice little walk from the car park. The weather and the sea were placid for our visit. It would be very different during storm conditions, high seas, high tides and a low pressure system.
Une des plus belles randonnée et très facile. Ce sentier offre des paysages magnifiques et diversifiés avec des vues panoramiques extraordinaires sur l'océan.
Really nice little hike. You can do shorter sections or the whole loop. Multiple parking lots to choose from. Fairly accessible for most. Great viewpoints along the way, benches to sit on and a pic nic table or two (with a bit of a walk. Don't bring a huge heavy pic nic set up). The Wild Pacific Trail is nicer, but this is a must do as well. Enjoy!
A cool stop on the Wild Pacific Trail. Great spot to take a break and take in the views. Be sure to stop and read the history behind the lighthouse and bouys. See if you can spot the green and blue one.
What a hidden gem. My wife and I chanced upon trail and were grateful we did. Plan for an hour but it take longer because of the views. We had cool but sunny weather and it was perfect. They have gracefully carved out a trail through a beautiful forest and enough lookout points out to the pacific ocean with benches for meditation and awe that people don't need to bunch up to enjoy the views. Move on to the next opening and breathe in all the natural beauty. Each viewpoint is extraordinary. Be careful of venturing out onto the rocks, they have signs posted that 20% of the people that drown there never intended to get wet! Changes in weather and waves catch people by surprise. Just want you and your family to stay safe.
The best loop trail ever! The Ocean views at every point are spectacular. It’s a very easy trail and with the breathtaking views, be it sunrise, sunset or storm watching! It should be at the top of your list when you are visiting Eucluelet.
Spend the time to read the posted signs which explains the history of how the lighthouse was built, it's quite a story. Hats off to those hardworking people who worked 18 hour days to build the lighthouse under hostile environment.
Short but nice loop around hike with slight varying inclines. We enjoyed a nice sunrise during our trek but would imagine sunset would be just as beautiful. It was a treat to end our stay in Ucluelet with this venture before we head home.
Great hiking trail. The rocks are perfect for rock climbing. There are tiny pools filled with tadpoles in between the rocks. We did see a small snake on the rocks but it seemed harmless and was more afraid of us.
Wild Pacific Trail is the Lighthouse Loop I enjoyed very much beautiful trails, ocean views is stunning, the black rock you can see or go up there and the take best photo, forest trail & trees is captivating just enjoy every moment. There's a lot of benches along the trail to enjoy unlimited ocean views. It's a safe trail it's very popular for the young & older generation. It's an easy trail even the the older ones can do it. Enjoy every views. If you have a dog to take for walk will loved it.
Well maintained, loads of benches to enjoy the wonderful views. Wasn't too busy, but plenty of families, folks walking dogs, and joggers. The loop is a good length for a relaxed afternoon stroll, there is some elevation change, though not much. The information signs are interesting too!
Definitely a nice easy walk, took us 1 hour 1/2, although we did stop a lot as it is just so beautiful not to. We would just sit and listen to the ocean, very peaceful. I would highly recommend doing this walk! FYI There are washroom at the lighthouse.
Excellent hiking trails with several washrooms at key points. Crushed gravel paths for essentially all areas make this area very accessible to novice hikers of all ages and abilities. Several benches and stops along the way really allow you to take it at your own pace.
My friends and I went there in January 2020. The loop is not long, but pretty fun. We enjoyed the rain, the rainbows, the trees, and the waves. We’ll go there again in Summer next time.
This is one of the best wild walking trails on Vancouver Island. The trail is in two parts; The Ancient Cedars Loop Trail in North Ucluelet, and The Ucluelet Lighthouse Loop in the south. The latter starts near the southern end of Peninsula Road, and covers a circular path called the Lighthouse Loop. The lighthouse is located at the Amphitrite Point. The length of the circular trail is about 2.6 km and it is a largely flat trail without too many undulations if you stick to the trail. It is risky to try to go down to the rocky shorelines as the thrashing waves are quite unpredictable. The dense forest had a variety of trees, some tall and straight and some were bent and twisted into weird shapes by the gusty winds from the ocean. There were many protruding viewing points and benches to sit along the trail. The trail has been maintained very well. There are sign boards at regular intervals tracing back the history and culture of the region. We were wondering where a certain plaintive wailing sound was coming from, till we read a sign board explaining that it was the sound from a Whistle Buoy which has guided mariners into Ucluelet harbour, sometimes called 'The Graveyard of the Pacific', in stormy weather since 1905. There is a car park at the start of the trail, and public washrooms near the parking area.
This is a fantastic trail. We stopped at every single lookout and bench area there was because it felt like the view was different everytime. This is the highlight to Ucluelet for sure. If you are making a trip to Tofino make sure you have a walk here as it is absolutely worth it.
What and awesome experience for our family. Our kids, 5 and 3, walked the entire way and loved it. They were amazed at all the view points and loved watching the waves crash. They also really enjoyed the interpretive signs and learned a bunch along the way. We even saw a pod of orcas just beyond the lighthouse!
I'm somewhat surprised that I didn't see more people taking sunset photos or intimate/romantic photos at the light house! First, the light house is generally closed off unless someone is actually working there. Nonetheless you can still climb the rocks and get close to the lighthouse. All along the trail, whether you're in the forest or at the beach, nature will always tease you and lure you closer to the water. You'll hear the crashing waves, or maybe it's the bells from the buoys. I was surprised to find a lack of seagulls! You'll see glimpses of the lighthouse from different angles it maybe it's a beach side scene which is just as incredible. There will be information plaques along the trail to tell you tell you some history of the lighthouse loop. Enjoy yourself, stay safe, and stay warm!
If you like an easy walk this is a must. The scenery is breath taking and visually interesting. I enjoyed the many viewing spots along with the numerous information stations. Historically interesting.
Easy hike if you take the short path, but the long way is also gentle but it's a bit longer. If it's foggy (which it was when we were there at the beginning of September), then the fog horn sounds every 20 seconds and that's a but loud but does let you know where you are in relation to the lighthouse.
This trail is a pretty easy walk, plenty of spots to stop and enjoy the views. The beach is well worth the effort climb down and up - spent about 90 minutes here with a lot of stopping to whit the scenery.
Beautiful views all along with great spots to sit and look at the coast. Cool info boards too. It's a fairly easy walk though some steepish parts but is okay for most. Strollers may be tricky. There is parking near the lighthouse if you wanted to slip the loop.
