Umi Sushi Express

The girls that work at the front are beyond rude. I come here at least once a week and they are so snarky. My order has been messed up and forgotten several times and they don’t even say sorry. The owner really needs to hire some people that care.

I asked for several items in their menu and they said they're all out of salad and vegetables so even bento boxes and poke bowls are not an option. So I decided to get large size of shrimp tempura to go and by the time I was downtown to eat while I was on an errand with my children, there short black hair in my food that is definitely not mine.

My elder daughter said it's not worth driving all the way back because it was a waste of time and gas, not to mention I wouldn't make it back in time before mall close on a Sunday. Very disappointing; tempura taste good and the person who made it was polite but other service staff were lackluster.

I ordered beef bento box, and they gave me chicken which was tasteless even with the sauce. I also had to wait 20 minutes. They said they were going to replace the meat for free, but after 5 minutes the cook said it would be $3-4 charge. Avoid them.

Every meal we ate and tasted was delicious.it was great.smiling waiters and crewIt was a wonderful and unique place.we left there very happy.

Perpetually out of miso soup. And the girls at the till seems to enjoy saying they’re out with a smirk

I always get the chicken teriyaki here when I need comfort food. You can never go wrong with the mini bento. My favorite sides are yam fries and veggie tempuras. Highly recommend!

They closed their kitchen 30 minutes before the rest of the food court. Horrible customer service

Ordered a mini bento. It was freshly cooked and ready in about 7 minutes. This place also has ready made sushi rolls so you can grab it to go. The food court is sectioned off for Coronavirus purposes Which makes me feel more safe eating here

Been there a few times, and its been pretty great every time. The bento boxes are well portioned, and include a lot of the meat of your choice, and all its components are very well balanced. Cashier also tends to be very kind. Miso soup was a tad on the salty side however, but normally tends to be consistent.

Mini bento was great! Food tasted fresh and they have indicated they pride themselves on handmade and homemade.

Mini bento box for the win! Seriously for 9.99 you can't go wrong. Everytime I've order this the yam fries are always fresh made or order. So yummy!

Best tasting and healthiest place to eat around a Mayfair. Everything always tastes fresh. I recommend the crazy Cali roll and a green salad!

I hate sushi/rolls with cold rice. When rice is cold it gets hard and tastes stale. Rolls should not be cold!

When I asked for some rolls to made fresh, the cashier obliged but said there would be a 50 cent charge. Imagine you went to get some carbonara from a nice place and they brough you a plate of spaghetti with cold eggs on it and when you asked for it to be made-to-order they added on a tax for that privilege.

Anyway, I paid the fee and about 45 seconds later i was handed another box, identical to the one i passed by in the display fridge. Sure enough, more cold rolls. It was not made fresh, it was pulled out of a fridge!

As expected, it was terrible. Low quality, cold rice with the cheapest pollock and a gram of brown avacado isn't a recipe for success. You couldn't get worse sushi from a gas station in Abbotsford.

I purchased a wakame salad and it looked & tasted like it had been sitting for a while. I felt pretty ill afterwards for the rest of the day. The rice on my sushi roll was also a bit stale. I’ve always had good experiences here, but unfortunately won’t be returning again.

This is usually my go to when I'm at Mayfair, but we recently had a horrible experience that makes me not want to return. We ordered the bento box and found a long brown hair in the rice. We tried to bring it back (just to replace the rice) and the guy in the kitchen came out and said "that's not my hair". It was clearly tangled up in the rice. We asked if he was calling us liars. After this question, he replaced the rice. The two other people working in the kitchen had long brown hair. We were treated so poorly.

I had the bento box with teriyaki beef and vegetable tempura and it was excellent. Good size portion at a good price and a lot healthier than some of the other choices in the food court.

As I approached the till i was barely greeted by this girl that i have never seen before, i come to Umi sushi in the mall quite often so i asume shes new. I preceeded to ask her for a salmon roll, she explains that they dont do that yet ive purchased it before. Long story short i meant the maki version but she prolonged the conversation telling me i was entirely wrong and making up excuses instead of trying to figure out my order. She was slightly condescending and and acted like she knew what she was doing but she didnt. When working in any sort of retail job where customer service is your main task you should be humble and understanding of the customer and not let your ignorance take over. I quite enjoy this place but would like to see better customer service.

The price is right. The beef udon noodles were ok; the meat used was too thin and dry. The tempura items are good. The overall restaurant is dirty and needs a good cleaning. The ceiling and fan area is black from the grease and dust. The walls have splatter marks everywhere. In my experience, the way they upkeep the restaurant is indicative of their kitchen.
