This School Is Really Doing For Students I Loved Location and Environment of School Hope U Guys Keep it up

I have the privilege to work at an IB school close to my home town. I've traveled the world, seeking out IB schools because I believe in the curriculum. I love teaching it and I love the way it helps students learn in authentic ways. I've worked at Unisus for one year now as a K-1 teacher and it has been one of my favourite experiences so far. The school has so much to offer, yet a lot of room to grow. It has allowed me to help bring my expertise from teaching all over the world and make a real impact in what we are doing and how we are doing it. Not to mention the small class sizes which has seriously allowed me to reach each student on a very deep level compared to any other experience I have had. I can truly see the difference it makes when each student gets the full attention of their teacher. Regardless, nothing is ever perfect, but what I love is the fact that my coworkers are always trying to make this place better for the students, the teachers and the parents.

The IB program is known for its comprehensive and rigorous approach to education, and it has proven to be a great fit for our son. He is exposed to a wide range of subjects and activities that challenges and inspires him, helping to develop his critical thinking skills and foster a love of learning.

At Unisus, our son has the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs and activities that supports his interests and strengths. The faculty's dedication to fostering a positive and supportive environment is evident, and they regularly communicate with students and parents, ensuring that everyone is informed and involved in the life of the school.

We feel truly lucky to be a part of the Unisus community. The school fosters a sense of belonging and provides opportunities for parents and students to connect and build lasting relationships. The supportive and inclusive environment, combined with the high-quality education offered through the IB program, makes Unisus a truly exceptional choice for families.

Watching our child attend this school has been an incredibly refreshing experience. The teachers are so passionate about what they do and inspire the students in a way that you don’t often get to experience. It is a really lovely community and from our experience so far, I would highly recommend it!

Our three children are thriving at Unisus, the focus on outdoor education has been such a great experience for them and allows them to appreciate their surroundings. The small class sizes, IB education and the exposure to international students have been such an asset for their daily lives and they have made so many friends from all over the world.
They push my children to think outside the box, encourage them to be leaders, come up with something creative and to be a good friend.

I came to UNISUS with an untruthful recommendation and I’m here to give mine.
I would not come back and can’t recommend the school until I can prove this is a trustworthy place where a student/teachers can stay healthy in every single way.
While I was staying here, there was a huge lack of privacy for my personal problems. I had personal conversations with coordinators, to later on found out they already told our conversation to other individuals who didn’t need to know about them because my life was not in danger (in case the student’s life is in danger they are allowed to mention conversations with others to prevent the danger). There were different cases just like mine. Additionally, I was constantly feeling like an object because I was used to selling the school because I was an international student, and with that I mean there were so few people who cared a lot about our mental health, and most of the managers didn’t care if we were feeling fine (emotionally or physically), whit it I receive racism from part of the coordination and other students.
I do need to clarify they have excellent teachers, who help me and teach me incredibly useful things.
If you ever come here, things might change and hopefully be a better place so you can have a better experience than I did. Because of all the things that happened this opportunity let me get closer to the rest of the boarding students and have remarkable memories here.
The point of this recommendation is not to make you change your opinion but to let you know the truth as I would have liked to know. I don’t want to go after anyone with this commentary, so if I ever offended someone during this message, I’m sorry, and thank you.
If you or your son/daughter are coming to this school good luck <3

I have never attended this school but 2 of my friend have attended and are attending as international students. Based off of what I have heard and witnessed of what this school does to the international students is absolutely disgusting. The students in the boarding house are not allowed to leave and have fun like teenagers should. They are also left unheard and disrespected. My friend recently had her birthday in which we planned to celebrate with a nice dinner. A few days before, the school decided she was not allowed to leave campus for her own birthday so the dinner and all other birthday events were therefore canceled. The other friend that used to go to unisus now lives with me, due to the fact that she loves Canada but never wants to go unisus again. Since she has left she has been unable to see some of her closest friends that still attend unisus because the school forbids it. She stood up for the students there and called out one of the coordinators for being unfair. Due to this, they now consider her a “threat” to the students and is banned from visiting them even with an endless amount of forms filled. These instances are only a couple of the many. If you are a parent considering sending your child to this school, I would highly recommend against it and to get a therapist. This school leaves so many student with mental health issues and neglects to even help. I’ve only heard issues from international students so either Canadians are staying quiet or the school is out right racist. Please don’t put your child through the hell of unisus

Recent Graduate here! I graduated from Unisus but sadly do not recommend this school to anyone. It is a very new school and is extremely disorganized and there is a truly shocking lack of communication. The education the fine, the issue lies with management and life as a boarding student. I felt like a product/marketing tool and not a human being in Unisus. We’re treated like disposable, sheep that are expected to quietly comply to all the insanity of Unisus. Do not come to Unisus if your want your voice to be heard, do not come to Unisus if you aren’t ready to be put through mental torture. My mental and physical health suffered horribly because of Unisus, luckily I had many beloved friends and a few amazing staff members supporting me. I am grateful for the experience, but am so relieved to be gone. Although I love Unisus, I cannot recommend the school to others with good conscious. To current/future students: Good luck, you will REALLY need it.

I've been to 3 high schools and this was by far the worst one. I was in boarding and left after about 2 months. Since it is still a relatively new school the school staff and boarding staff were very inexperienced and made my time there even worse, especially the on site head administrator/"doctor", it felt like no one there knew what they were doing. Without naming names, it felt like my medical/mental privacy was horribly invaded by the head of the school, and it made me extremely uncomfortable. I was also told there would be an on site councillor and there wasn't, I didn't receive the academic help that I needed, and for such a high cost the food and activities were horrible. I was told I wouldn’t have to do IB (because I didn’t feel ready for that level) and that they had another program I could do, but they dissolved that program without telling us and I had to do a level i wasn’t ready for and failed classes. It felt like we were lied to just to get me there, as most of the things we were told about the school before hand and while touring turned out to not be true. Im not sure about what it would be like as a day student, but I would never recommend going into the boarding system at this school, it caused both my mental health, and my grades to rapidly decline until i was pulled out of the school.

The teachers, educators and Head of School are excellent. Academic is top notch with the one and only IB curriculum in BC interior. This is the school that will have my little guy ready for the future. Unlike conventional settings, the school, the community and parents involvement are awesome. We know we made the right decision and he knows it too. Thank you, Unisus.

This is our first year at unisus and our daughter is in the ECE program she was one of the two 2 1/2 year olds they let in every year and we have been so blessed, the amount of time they spend outside everyday is amazing she is in her element and the teachers are amazing and make her feel safe and comfortable, we also love the update pictures we get during the day to see what they are doing, it’s been amazing watching her growth just over the last few months and we can’t wait to see where this school can take her. We chose this school for their amazing tech and arts programs and ofcourse the outdoor Ed has been amazing for our little one.

We decided to send our three children to Unisus when the pandemic hit and we're so glad we did! While it's a newer school the teachers are all so amazing at what they do and so obviously care so much about their students. I love that my children have the opportunity to learn in a variety of different ways and get to spend SO much time outdoors.

We feel lucky to have found this gem of an IB school in Summerland. Lovely enthusiastic teachers and a really wonderful group of parents who are invested in their children. Our girls love it and we are thrilled that they have access to 17 acres for outdoor learning!

I am thankful everyday that we were told about Unisus. This incredible school has unlocked my girls love for knowledge. The small class sizes and culture they are creating is amazing. One of my daughters played basketball this year and had the best experience. When I ask my girls what they love best about Unisus, they tell me that they feel like one big family.

My grade 7 daughter says: “UNISUS has evolved as a school. The teachers there are great. They are understanding, and are willing to help you. I love how small the class sizes are. We get to know everyone. The location of UNISUS gives us access to a fenced in forested area, so we can spend safe time in the woods. We also learn about practical applications in the basic subjects, such as travel costs and planning in math as well as socials class. Everything about the school is wonderful. I’m staying til I graduate. ”

My grade 10 boy says: “This school has a cacophony of interesting people. They make good friends. The outdoors are of course sublime. The teachers can admittedly be intimidating but luckily they all possess a sense of humour. ”

I say: The Teachers care. It shows. My two kids are thriving mentally, emotionally, and physically, and they’ve only been there 3years…

This is a very unpleasant school for the money, about as good as a average public school, the physical education program is top notch and that is it. I am writing based off a friends experience, he was routinely verbally abused by one of the teachers who I will not name publicly. The other peers are somewhat mixed with difficult and good kids, typical high school, there are plenty of better schools than this

Amazing school and opportunity for our son. Not only is he getting a top-quality IB education, but is part of the Basketball Academy (UBA). He has never been so excited or engaged in school. We are so thankful and grateful for this amazing opportunity for him to expand his education + meet incredible kids from around the world. Highly recommended program.
