First thing first, every 5 star review belongs to restaurants not the grocery store, second everything is tooooo pricy for no reason, I don’t understand why iranian people immigrate to canada to scam people? ! Can’t you just do the same thing in iran? ! You make more money by scamming people in iran than here. If the business is not profitable for you, you can just rent cheaper a place or find a cheaper way to survive your business but not selling a frozen sabzi for 8$ which is literally double the price of other places. Don’t know what to say anymore….

This Iranian store has been sold extremely expensive since the corona virus and even the goods of this store are very poor quality and old. Most of it is past history. Where has your honesty gone, when the dollar goes up, which is in your favor, why do you sell so expensively? How many times do you want to profit?

Yesterday I order some Chello Kabab and Jojeh Kabab for my son’s birthday party. I was very pleased with the customer service, I truly thought that they appreciated my business very polite and respectful, which I thought why not other restaurants do the same. Now going back to food. Both Kabab’s, were so delicious, very high quality, yammy and fresh. I highly recommend this great restaurant.

I ordered a cake from the bakery for my birthday and everybody at the party liked the cake!

It has good bakery and Persian stuff and foods but is is very expensive. But good if you want bread or something like that

I've shopped here a few times now as I live in a building nearby. The meat and produce prices are reasonable and the product is good quality.
The Dry Goods and Dairy are very expensive.
Overall I like the convenient location and decent selection of products.

Iranian supermarket. You can find quality saffron in there pulse yummy Persian saffron ice cream.

I used to buy some stuff from time to time from the store. Yesterday night I bought honey $10.99. When I went home I opened it but unfortunately it smells bad. So next morning I asked to exchange it with another brand. The manager refused to exchange it, she said because I opened it. I said but it smells bad and I couldn’t handle this smell. Then I said ok keep it for you and I left. I know that I lost $10.99 plus tax, but I feel that the manager should to handle the problem with a customer. Despite I lost money but I feel they lost their image of how they treat the customer. By the way, there was no notification says that I couldn’t refund or exchange, which is against the law in BC. I’m sorry to share this.

It's a good place but once you eat at one Persian place it all the same. These guys have a better menu than most.

Great place to get Persian goods, especially desserts. The walnut baklava and Persian honey doughnuts are my favourite. The store is very clean and organized. It's a nice place to browse and discover new items. Staff are friendly and the service is good.

Honestly the only classy place made for Persian shopping in BC! In toronto there are many huge Persian stores but in Vancouver area they are all super cheaply made and designed. This place is like a small save on food. Very impressive. Thank you

By far the cleanest and nicest Persian store in metro Vancouver area. They are professional, very well stocked, and have bakery, meat shop, fruits, assorted bread, and deli departments. They used to have a restaurant that they let go of after renovations, and I think this was welcome. They still do takeouts but I don’t have experience with that. Kudos to the owner and staff. Urban Gate can easily be voted as the best neighborhood grocery/convenience store in metro Vancouver!

Pros: Everything is well-stocked, Store is super clean, and the goods they sell have a decent quality.

Cons: Expensive and some staff are not helpful and ignore the customers

I dropped off my sister at the door, then went inside the parking and while she was shopping, I went to Kensington plaza to take a photo of Vanex ad. Came back, pick up my sister and left, only to realize that I'm fined $80 because apparently ALL passengers in a vehicle must remain on the property due to the request of the owner.
Sorry Urban Gate but I will never drop off anyone at your door. Bye bye

I struggle to give this a 2 star because the food is fair in taste and portion. However, the waitress for our table has a poor attitude while the rest of the waitresses were very nice. The price is also high for what one gets.

Based on this experience, I don't think I'll visit the restaurant again nor could I recommend it.

We tried different foods and they were far from real tasty Persian food and it’s a shame cause the place is very nice much better than other Persian restaurants in town. We also tried sweet and it was the same story! The grocery part is good but over priced and it’s a shame again because with reasonable prices a lot of people including me would have done majority of our grocery shopping here around $400 a month instead of shopping once in a while and just for hard to find elsewhere items, so the owner can make a fortune in my opinion by lowering grocery prices and finding a better chef!

Little over priced, and their food isnt as fresh as other places. The fact that they own the grocery market next door makes the restaurant a good dumping ground for the spoiled food.

Food was good, but the waitress was confused and unorganized. Got the guys order of the drinks, left and forgot to ask the ladies.mixed the bills.and overcharged at the end!

It was my second time here and enjoyed it just as much. Large dishes in reasonable price, the Sabzi is absolutely delicious and authentic! The service is really nice and efficient. Really recommended.

Today is Dec 30 2018 I a m trying to book for 12 person, however, I was on hold for 4 minutes first time and three minute for second time, so I give up.

We went here for lunch on the 29th to celebrate a birthday. The reason for the 3 star review is because of the lack of customer service present. We were left unattended for long periods of time. I understand that since we are a larger group our food takes longer to come out. That is not the issue. The main issue was when we were finishing up it took over 30 minutes to get two meals wrapped up and for our cheque to come to the table. The food itself was okay but not my preference, so I am not going to judge that.

Quality has gone down exponentially over the past 3 years. I think they need a new chef and start hiring more professional waitresses. The 2 stars is for some of the gals over there are genuinely trying to do things right but unfortunately it's overshadowed by all the others!

Modern ambiance with a decent menu and reasonable prices. The cocktail menu, including Martini's, leans hard to the feminine side with nothing like an Old Fashioned or Manhattan in sight.

Its the most expensive Persian grocery in metro Vancouver.some item's price is even twice in comparison with others.

Is it a Persian restaurant or a Bar n Grill? Cuz I found the menu was more Persian than a traditional bar food. And the bar food they do have is not prepared properly. I had the Philly cheese steak and well It wasn't a Philly cheese steak. It was more a steak sandwich. If I boil flour and sugar can I serve it as a cake?

I enjoyed the chicken wing variety. Beer selection was ok. They had at least a couple craft brews if I recall.

Very tasty persian food. Very Good service. Good quality and quantity. Fantastic ambiance. Fresh Beer. I highly recommend

We were at the Urban Gate this past Saturday. Service gets a Gold star, the decor is similar to other places like Browns etc, so Silver Star. We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all good, just can't figure out why there is a 1/4 raw onion on the plate as a garnish, as I doubt most people would not chow down on a raw onion but Gold star for food. This restaurant has alcohol specials everey day. IE Saturday we hade the 4 dollar high ball specials and orderd a bottle of wine with $5 dollar off each bottle. Platinum star for alcohol discounts. Thank you, a very good experience.

Urban Gate is a casual restaurant and bar conveniently attached to a grocery store of the same name. We were seated immediately and the waitress was friendly. The food came promptly and it was HUGE. We ordered the Chicken Tanjin and it was enough to feed two people. Definitely great value at $14 for the dish. The grocery store has a great bakery section and I imagine it would be nice to pick up something sweet from there after your meal. All in all a nice experience.

Took 30 mins to get seated even though it was not busy at all and seats were clearly open. Tonight I constantly had to request for service be it ordering drinks or for food or even for side plates and napkins. I ordered the koobideh expecting it to be a tradional home-made quality kebab but instead go an extremely dry and a terrible rendition of Iranian food.

I just asked the server to take it away before I took the second bite and told him it was too dry. He took it and left without a word or offering a replacement meal. When I asked for the bill, I was expecting the meal to be taken off the bill because I didn't touch 99% of the plate. But it was still there and after asking why should I pay for it, he replied with "all the meat here is supposed to be dry" which was a priceless response.

Confused and exhausted from this restaurant I paid the bill and left. I highly do not recommend this place if you want good food, I recommend Zeitoon and the kebob house. All in all, I really wish the server just tried to side with the and notice that I wasn't being unreasonable.

Can't write a full review as I did not eat there, but was not impressed. We were told a table for two would be a 20 minute wait and they took our phone number, however, immediately after us a family of 8 came in and was seated before us.

There were multiple empty tables on the patio outside and available seats at the bar, that we were not offered.

By the time the restaurant did call, it had been over an hour and we were already at another restaurant having our entrees. Needless to say, we won't be returning after this experience alone.

It's ok. The persian food is pretty good, but the kebab is a bit overflavored with spices, so it's not the go to place for me in the category of restuarants that serve persian kebab around town. That being said.the good thing is that the restaurant is a classy place, so whenever I want to introduce friends to the persian cuisine, I bring them here because it's on the higher end of spectrum as opposed to the majority of the persian kebab places in town which are typically takeout restaurants that prepare food for casual diners.

I had an Awesome Time as the first time to visit with the family and friends, it`s A sophisticated restaurant, The food here is amazing and consistent. I order the Lamb shanq with Green rice and salad and it's made perfectly. The house made creamy salad dressing is the best I've ever had. Ask for a side of the yogurt to dip your skewer meat in, it is delicious. We always have great service here and they have a great outside patio. There is also a Persian store next to the restuarant which makes excellent Persian desserts. Get a few for the road!
