I've always gone to value village for cheap clothes but now I can't even afford it. The prices are ridiculous, it's truly mind boggling how expensive it is now for used clothes. Just Why? Not to mention, for a store with such high prices, it is dirty, disorganized, and paired with a hectic atmosphere. Value Village is unethically operated, and they take advantage their customers. What a shame,

Great place to find lots of household items and personal belongings in good, useable condition. The donation centre is a great option to drop off your own stuff which will also get you a coupon with discounts for store purchases. There is ample parking available.

Why is everything priced so high? I can find new items at Walmart for cheaper. Stained clothes with holes are around $24, this doesn’t help the community, we are supposed to be working together for affordable clothing and the ability to reuse clothing to reduce waste.
10 September 2023 22:39
These hot wheels cars are actually being sold in Walmart right now for $1.88. Value village is criminal.
24 August 2023 14:29
Most overpriced dumpster fire I have ever been to. Most items were priced near retail. Small Squishmallows $5.99-$9.99. Small monster trucks $3.99 (full retail). Old navy dresses $16.99. Pants with a torn out pocket $10.49. Dollarama trash cans $5.99 each. Don’t donate here, don’t shop here.
12 August 2023 8:31
Lol this place is getting rough as guts. Honestly if they are going to sell donated dollar store items for the same price at least pull the sticker off
02 July 2023 5:28
Went looking for short sleeved shirts.for the summer.found a few but no change rooms to try things on.so tried them over my shirt.bought 2 out of 5
25 March 2022 16:31
This location is super noisy but you can still find parking.
Well organized. Security in store.
24 March 2022 13:13
Great stuff at this location, staff were nice.
Someone had to make an announcement, which was well said and very funny. Very positive experience
03 March 2022 21:42
Really unimpressed. The whole store smelled like cigarette butts, so much so that I could still smell it on my clothes after leaving the store. Came across some dirty toys, including a grab bag that contained a random old candy. As with any value village the prices are redonk. Would not recommend.
06 February 2022 12:10
Excellent, clean and well kept location! Lots of good finds in here at great prices, no trash at all!
03 February 2022 23:51
It's your typical value village, large place, lots is items, I always leave with something. Staff has always been pleasant and helpful. Place is clean, lots of parking.
07 January 2022 5:49
Probably one of the dirtiest, grimyest, unkempt store I've ever seen.
They sell garbage. They overcharge for all their stuff it's ridiculous. I love value village but this place was disgusting
25 December 2021 2:39
This place gives me life! Overpriced though, especially considering everything is donated and the company is 100% FOR PROFIT
07 December 2021 1:07
Value Village is great. I always find something I want, and the people working there are very nice.
29 November 2021 16:50
10-20$ for a DONATED pair of pants
I mean.look at these shoes.absolutely ridiculous i dont know who decides the prices of these things but they need to stop scamming people who want to shop somewhere with fair prices.
03 November 2021 6:21
Great staff.dirty or busted items sold at a high price, dollar store items sold at top dollar.they sell free donated items at high way robbery prices.but the staff is amazing maybe that's why I keep coming back.
26 October 2021 12:41
Whoever is pricing the clothing in this store is out of their mind entirely. A lot of items are cheaper to buy brand new! Won't be going back, this is not a thrift store any longer. I hope people will take their donations elsewhere to an organization that actually benefits the community.
01 October 2021 15:00
I can't believe the prices they charge for donated thing, when u can go to Walmart, superstore and buy the same thing for way less then what they are charging
25 September 2021 12:47
Whoever sets the pricing on merchandise is out of their mind. Especially for clothes. Even the homeless guys lining up to use the bathroom say the store is a scam.
25 September 2021 6:29
Prices were way out of whack considering they get all their product for free. And they are a for profit company. Even Salvation Army prices are better and they give out free services and help many people.
Also there is no changing room which I understood during covid restrictions. But they got ride of them for good.
I use to be a regular. I will never go back.
24 September 2021 14:32
Good selection of books, but everything is way overpriced. Sometimes they charge more than the retail value for used merchandise.
24 September 2021 11:02
Lots to look at but a complete disorganized mess. Staff was helpful but also too busy to really help.
14 September 2021 6:29
It's the perfect place to shop for broke university students to recently divorced dads and everyone in between. You may have lost custody but at least you can a set of gently used cowboy boots! Sure you may be failing your classes but you can always buy that one weird knick-knack that you definitely don't need but are going to buy anyways. The smells may be musty and the quality may be questionable but you'll always find something to buy. Like that dented up, metal, Pokémon lunch box. Sure I won't actually use it but at $1.50 I'd be insane NOT to buy it. Might well throw in a $10 faux leather purse that smells like a horse. And that rusted pan with no handle is quite a bargain. And are those shirts with intensely cringeworthy slogans on them.
There's something for everyone!

Easily the most expensive thrift store i’ve ever been in. Old Shein, forever 21, h&m, walmart brand basic summer dresses for $20-25? You can buy a lot of these brands cheaper brand new. I went to the salvation army right before going here where most dresses were $8-$15 max! Prices are greedy, I am familiar with other value village’s price ranges and this one is shocking. The racks are so full you can barely move anything, they would be a lot more empty if things are reasonably priced. Lots of stained clothing, lots of clothing with holes as well. Will never go here again.
31 August 2021 4:27
Love the value of some second hand items; however, it is not a great thing to have public washroom inoperable and closed
24 August 2021 12:37
The best value village I have ever been to. The staff were very helpful and the environment in general was so welcoming and inclusive. I'll be sure to visit any time I'm in Nanaimo.
16 August 2021 18:43
Prices were redictless for second hand clothing. Walmart would be cheaper to be honest very dissatisfied with this V/V
15 August 2021 3:49
First time there since moving to Nanaimo. Decently organized. Had what I wanted in decent condition. Lots of people there shopping. Will go again. What more could be said.
13 August 2021 1:13
Great place to go to find mostly clothes. Some new but mostly second hand clothes and also books, movies, kitchen wares and more.
12 August 2021 3:12
Thrift shops are trendy now I guess so the prices have been spiked. Blue village is the worst for this. Wayyyyy too expensive for a thrift store.
02 August 2021 9:25
Great selection.prices are at times for somethings a little high for used items but look around and you can find some good prices and nice items

Good Luck in you search for awesome things!
03 June 2021 4:06
They sure do charge a lot for stuff that get given to them, stuff that they don't even wash before selling.

They literally have it donated at one door slap a price tag on it and put it on a shelf.

And I see a lot of dollar store items with retail prices.
02 June 2021 17:24
Staff is hit and miss. Got a very friendly cash woman this recent visit. Not always the case. Store is clean and well organized. Someone recently did a fantastic job of organizing the books, they have a good selection. The prices are disgusting. It's the same with most second hand stores these days. I've started buying more on Marketplace.
16 May 2021 11:02
Prices way too high for the quality of the clothes and Victoria's values is like way better and still not the best shopping experience biggest complaint is the prices are just unreasonable
02 May 2021 16:57
Great deals, no hassle returns (within 14 days) staff especially management (not including the bigger man with a white man's afro and burd who is always rude even when u spend $1000 a month there) is always a treat seem to be stepping up security was many new floor walkers are around yet never see them actually catch the people stealing (mostly because they spend their time falling around people like me who spend $200 already once a week)
23 April 2021 2:40
Great place to shop. They are quite organized and helpful! I donate and shop there, always find unique things to purchase!
22 April 2021 1:55
Just a reminder all of this stuff was FREE to them & lately the prices are getting out of hand expensive, very disappointing
13 April 2021 19:50
Good deals when using the super savers emails, and organized racks so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. I have had some less than pleasant interactions with staff but nothing that has stopped me from coming back.
03 April 2021 13:35
In what frame of mind have you for finding be in to buy used clothing at the same price for new
03 April 2021 12:15
There's nothing better than getting relatively expensive clothes cheap because people grew out of their clothes. While you may scoff at wearing used clothing from strangers, it's cleaned and its cheap.
06 February 2021 13:22
One of the better VVs around, however the bathroom here was horrendous. If I ain't catchin covid I'm definitely catching something else
05 February 2021 13:25
Extremely helpful and friendly staff made what could have been an unpleasant shopping experience quite enjoyable.
29 January 2021 23:55
Love the business itself, prices can be over the top at times especially when everything is donated to them. But, I have a bit of a rant. I have managed to find some deals there, but, I don't drive so there's been times I've had to pay and leave items there. They say 24hrs but I've known them to keep stuff longer. Twice in a row now I've gone back to pick up my stuff before it closes the following day and it's been put back on the sales floor and sold. That bites! Hard! I called 1st this time to let them know I'd be there before they closed and 1 item was gone, the other on the floor. I suggest you buy stuff you can take with you I'm told and in the end hung up on. Nice customer service people! Very considerate of you. So because I don't drive I'm not entitled or eligible to purchase anything I can't strap to my back and fit on a bus! Community minded my a**!
17 January 2021 19:51
Valley Village is okay place to find stuff their prices have gone up and usually the floor is pretty dusty so ware a mask and any clothes there you're probably going to have to wash them before you wear them. Just beware sometimes you can buy stuff cheaper at Walmart and it's new
11 January 2021 5:07
The store was pretty good for the cool mercy they had. I don't get the point of locking up the changing rooms though people are still touching everything anyways. Also for a second hand store that gets everything donated the prices are way to high come Vv don't be greedy.
10 January 2021 22:27
Good selection on clothing and shoes.
Most of the employees are very nice and friendly.
But very overpriced.
31 December 2020 17:08
Store aisles are well spaced out. The staff are very friendly and working hard to ensure safe shopping during the pandemic.
27 December 2020 12:31
Always find at least 1 good piece of clothing when I'm here. Manager was helpful with an exchange.
12 December 2020 20:02
Always enjoy a trip to VV. Over the past year it seemed to have been overly pricing their inventory until my most recent visit. Everything I looked at had a reasonable price and the selections were pretty good in e dry Dept! Not sure what happened but way to go everyone!
11 December 2020 23:26
What’s wrong with you Value Village? Oh I know everything! You charge a lot for used cloths, and when I wanted to donate one of your staff told me to wait in line while she was bs talking and doing absolutely nothing, just wasting people’s time instead of taking donations and let them go, I’m glad I made other thrift store happy with my donations, I don’t recommend to shop nor to donate there!
11 December 2020 15:12
Garbage company. Only redeeming quality is the things you find there, and the mistreated and malnourished staff keeping the whole thing afloat.
28 October 2020 1:43
Very positive experience.friendly staff and the lady checking my items through was awesome (wish I had noticed her name). Store and bathroom very clean and Covid protical in place.
08 October 2020 5:33
Great selection of clothes, housewares and knick-knacks. Clothing is organized into types, sizes and by gender and age.makes it easy to find what you're looking for. Only negative feedback: some items are priced way too high.
