Vancouver College of Massage Therapy

As a tenant that shares the same space as this RMT clinic I can attest that me and my colleagues will not be going to this clinic. The students are obnoxious outside the office and elevators and talk badly to each other about their patients breaking that practitioner/client trust. You're better off going somewhere more professional.

I have been here before and I found it great. So I decided to make another appointment for my mom (and myself as well!) I send her in like 20 min before the appointment to fill out the forms you fill out the first time you come, and I went to park the car. Once I arrived about 7 minutes before the appointment I checked in and sat next to her. I understand there may have been some confusion as I made both appointments under my name- but they could've asked her. The receptionist, who is very friendly and eversmiling, then came over and gave my mom a form to fill out (the one I send in her 20 min early to do). By the time we finished the form both the massage students were waiting. This is what I excatly wanted to avoid! So we were 5/10 min already late, although we were there plenty before the appointment. Now my massage was awesome, altough only 40 min remaining, she was friendly attentive and listened to every part I needed attention to. Even after, she gave me some brilliant ideas and to top that off she even emailed me reminding and asking me if I took her suggestion- how awesome! Kenzie, you get 5*'s!
Now my mom had even less than 40 min, she told her therapist multiple times to massage her lower back to which the student did 2-3 arms stroke qnd moved back up. Then she mentioned it again, as her pain is in her lower back to which the student replied 'I already did that area', and my mom requested again, so she did another 2 strokes. After her session was over my mom told her that she didn't pay attention to what and where to massage more and that she repeatedly asked her to do that specific spot- she just replied that next time she will pay more attention to her lower back! Do you really think there will be a next time?
So this visit didn't turn out to be what I hoped for my mom!

If you are even wondering if you should come here for a massage just do it. I had such a good experience here! I was in Vancouver for just 2 nights after hiking for 10 days all over northern Washington. My massage therapist was excellent. So knowledgeable and interested in getting to know my body and it's specific issues. She was very deliberate and skilled at working out all the incredibly tight muscles issues I have. She also gave me some tips for stretches and things I can do in the future for better self care. I wish I had found this place on my first day so I could go again. Already looking at how I can get back to Vancouver so I can come back!

I want to say special thanks to Clair Fromme! I’ve visited her twice already and looking forward to the third time. I came to her with some concerns which she not only successfully treated but also gave me some home exercises and recommendations on how to prevent it next time. Vcmt has a great environment. I definitely forgot that it was a learning environment for a second. The students ask me really good questions in order to determine how to treat me. I appreciate the follow up emails and I get better results here then some clinics I’ve been too. The only that sucks is the students keep graduating, so every few monthsI have to learn some new names. You definitely get value and satisfaction here.

I've been needing a massage for a long time time due to my work. I came in with neck and back issues and his technique and deep tissue massage made all the difference. The massage was very much needed. I didn’t realize how tight my body was until the session was over. Ferdinand did a very good job. I feel great.

I've had a great experience at VCMT. I always book with Arra and she's really great at making me feel comfortable, listening to what I need, and explaining everything she's doing to me. The prices are super good as well!

Zachary is very good massage therapist, he like professional.very good in communication skills.and he has a very good pressure in treating hypertonic muscles. He is very knowledgeable on what he doing. Goodluck Zach!

I like how Darek Stiller takes a keen interest in my unique accident & surgery-related concerns & goes above and beyond to research therapies for me. His quest for further knowledge & lifelong learning has been of great benefit to what ails me.

Great therapeutic massage from Cedar Bridgewood today. Cedar listens, takes careful notes and then treats exactly as we decide together. He checks in throughout the massage for pain or other reactions and proceeds accordingly.

The team at VCMT provides an excellent massage experience - the students are expert in their work, very professional, and appropriately supervised by seasoned practitioners. Highly recommend.

Amazing service and really works to relieve your issues! Yuri was amazing, professional, made me feel comfortable and relieved so much of the back pain I was feeling. She even tried to extend my appointment as much as she could even though I was 20 mins late! Will definitely be booking a follow up appointment and making this my regular spot for massage services!

Great quality and value of massage. Melissa was warm, accommodating, and very professional. After the intake (which took about 15-20 mins) the massage took about an hour. In the end she showed me simple stretches and shared tips on how to possibly alleviate my lower back pain. I left feeling great and looking forward to doing the stretches at home. Would definitely recommend this place if you'd like a great massage at a very affordable price.

Very relaxing session. I enjoyed having Brandon N.as my masseuse, very professional and firm with his technique. Hope to go again soon!

I've been seeing Mavio Wiebe for 4 sessions and he has done a fantastic job with a significant improvement on my lower back and calves, he is also very attentive and professional. I highly recommend Mavio in your next visit at VCMT

While the massage was good for Term 3, I was disappointed in the amount of time that I received. I am very experienced in student massage as I used to go to the massage therapy school in New West for about 4 years. At VCMT my assessment was 30 minutes, and my massage was approximately 30 minutes, with the rest of the time spent undressing and dressing, and a few minutes discussing an exercise to do at home. I'd love to try again, but am apprehensive of another 30 minute assessment each time I have a different student. And, yes, if you are looking for my name, I do use a different one online.

Attended the introductory weekend workshop. Grace and the teaching assistants were amazing! So knowledgeable, patient, and kind. They really took the time to explain, provide constructive criticism, and create a safe space.
Money very well spent and will definitely be exploring their part-time RMT program!

I have book appointment with Kevin Zhang, he is so professional and knowledgeable, my pain has released, I will absolutely recommend him!

Only good things to say about the entire VCMT experience - I've was treated by Jillian Peacock for about dozen sessions and saw dramatic results after a variety of techniques were used on the trigger points and on those angry muscle groups.thanks!

Great value and lovely experience! I’ve been seeing Jake Ross since January, he’s super friendly and always impresses me with his knowledge and skill. I come every few weeks to get him to fix any tensions or pains I get from working on my feet and he nails it every time. I love that they also give helpful home care tips and exercises after the treatment. Staff and reception are awesome as well, I went to get a gift card there and the receptionist went through the trouble of contacting her superior when he wasn’t in the clinic to help me get it on time. Highly recommend, can’t beat the price for what you get here!

Unprofessional staff to say the least. Made an appointment well in advanced to meet with the Admissions Advisor, David and he no shows.the front staff didn't even know what was going on.they didn't even apologize for wasting my time. Don't go to this school. There's definitely better options out there.

Excellent massages for a great price. I always go for the advanced therapeutic massages. Reminder that it is a school so you get apprx 45 min massage though you are there for 1hr 15 min

I’ve been treated at VCMT several times and found the students and instructors to be professional and skilled. I experienced significant improvement following my visits. I would highly recommend their services to anyone - value for price is off the charts.

They are very professional and Derek Speers was very kind, helpful and an excellent masseuse. Gave me some great tips for stretches and exercises to do at home to helo my shoulders and back. I definitely recommend Derek to anyone. I will be going back:)

Exceptional experience, they did a great job. A tidy place with nice relaxing music, staff know what they are doing and you won't waste a minute waiting in line. The session was exactly what I needed, will definitely come back.

I had 3 treatments by Brendan, the 1st he was a beginner, 2nd & 3rd a intermediate. He mentioned each muscle he was working on. Best massage's I've had. Now in Edmonton, waiting for my return for next treatment, this guy is going far in his profession. Didn't want to post this as he may be booked when I want or need another massage.

I had very bad experience with the management, in particular the owner of the college. Many times they don't return calls as promised when I complained about issues. When I finally got to talk to the owner, she was always unreasonable, not listening and refused to resolve my issues without good explanation. My final straw was they dishonoured their promise on charge rate to both myself and their students (back and forth 3 times) without any reasons. I won't step into the college anymore.

My experience here was okay, my massage therapist was good and professional and knew what she was doing, however I did not like how short my massage was. We did an assessment, which is fine, but after that my massage therapist disappeared for 10-15 mins to do some charting, and while I understand there might've been a wait period for her to do that along with a line up of other students, I did not, however, find it reasonable to end my massage at the exact 75 minute mark after all that lost time in charting. If this is the case, that means after the 10 min pre-assessment, 10-15 min charting, 5 min home care instructions, the massage is actually only 45 mins long. Or perhaps that was my fault for assuming the actual massage service would be an hour and 15 mins of assessments. I get that this is still cheaper than going to a professional place, but I would still have appreciated it if they were more upfront about how long the actual massage service would be.

I recommend if you don't have extended benefits or used up your benefits and still need a massage. They do a great job and seem to want to succeed in doing what they learned. I liked my session and feel very relaxed. Will come here again!

Overall, all of the students that have treated me have been wonderful - great attitudes, attention to care, and treatment. Good value for the length and quality of the treatment.

However, recent interactions have been rather disappointing and below my expectations in terms of communicating with me as a client. Changes that could have been passed along much earlier were, let's just say, extremely last minute. If you're simply looking for great value and decent treatment, go for it, but if possible, I'd recommend sticking to your regular RMT for a consistent overall experience.

The best massage therapy place. All students are very prepare and organize. I'd had many appointments and always has been very nice and relaxing. Price and quality match!

Fantastic service and the students are well trained and professional. Since the 75 minute session includes an initial consultation and post consultation, the only thing I wished is that it went for longer!

After reading the reviews, I was very optimistic about my massage and thrilled about the lower cost when I couldn't get in to see my regular RMT. Dutifully filled out my paperwork, referencing exact muscles that needed to be worked for a very specific shoulder issue I work on regularly with my regular RMT. The intermediate student was very friendly and I think she tried her best.unfortunately, I seems to have been a waste of time to fill out the paperwork because it didn't appear to be referenced at all. Even more unfortunately, the day after my massage, I am in significant pain and my shoulder is worse than it was before I went in. All in all, I think better for me to sit on a cancellation list for my regular RMT and pay the higher price.
