The Vancouver Recovery Club has a friendly atmosphere. They host all sorts of different 12 step Recovery groups, such as A. A, NA, CA, CMA, HA, & SA.
On Friday evenings they even host clean & sober dances.

Vancouver Recovery is a place where people go who are experiencing issues with addiction, of any nature, there are meeting taking place daily and through out the day & evening. It is an environment where one can sit and listen to other people talk about there experiences with addiction and how they are dealing and controlling it. Talking is a form of release and everyone who is facing addiction problems can get a sense of release and understanding. The meetings and the people who are all participating show empathy for one another and offer encourage and support, they express solutions that can be very helpful and supportive in guiding and establishing alternatives to their addictions. Although in the very end it is up to the individual them selfs to make and put the time and effort into making the neccessary changes. Good sober space with adequate meeting space. (opinion time) the saturday NA meeting is honestly the best out of what they have available.the location is both convenient & not at the same time- its quite inconvenient to get to if youre coming from east van, but its nice that its far enough away from the DTES to feel safe.

Have attended a broad sampling of 12 step recovery groups over the past 10+ years of having substance abuse issues. Some people get better, some people get worse and some stay at about the same level. It's tricky negotiating friendships there as so many clients are struggling mightily with a monkey on their back. Still it gives addicts a place to come together and to share their experiences and attempt to find compatible compadres (friends). At one time (and possibly still) they had a very low key Saturday night drop in music cabaret that didn't get an audience but did feature some decent musicians and singers.
It seems that music touches on the same spiritual notes that the 12-step programs promote, and seems to be a key element for healthy recovery.
Give the place a try and see if it helps you. Try to find at least one positive/safe friend that you can share your struggles with. And if you can reconnect with the more positive aspects of your self, your life can get better and worthwhile again. Good luck to everyone that comes looking for recovery and health.

One Great place! Has allowed me to become a volunteer and in doing this, I became reliable and productive to the community, in my personal growth to reach hightened recovery, allowing me to be of service and direct people to the required area one way or another. I can't say thank you enough VRC for changing my life
