Vancouver Start Smart Preschool

We have had the good fortune of having all three of our children attend Vancouver Start Smart Preschool, and we are so grateful for it. Ms Rebecca and her teachers are empathetic, passionate and creative in their approach to education. Although we have moved from the neighbourhood, we still drive back to preschool for our youngest - that is how wonderful the program is. Both my mother and mother in law are teachers - and both have expressed what a unique and phenomenal program this is. Thank you for all the gifts you have given to our family over the years!

I’ve had 3 kids go through this wonderful preschool. The educators and program filled with crafts and music and imagination play were all so amazing! My children loved going to class and connecting with their teachers! Miss Rebecca even offered to help my daughter sell her girl guide cookies by allowing us to advertise our cookie posters on her bulletin board and having a case of cookies at the preschool available for purchase!
One last note, I also loved how the preschool was inclusive to all children and any special needs they may of had and how everyone all got to participate in all activities to the best of all their abilities.

I would definitely recommend this Preschool to all my friends and family and to anyone looking for an awesome preschool!

We have had a great experience at the preschool. The teachers are amazing! My son loves going to preschool and doing all the arts and crafts. The teachers work with kids to come up with the theme that the kids are interested in and you can see their eyes light up! The preschool does a great job helping the kids get ready for Kindergarten. It's a wonderful supportive community.

Wouldn't recommend this preschool to anyone.

Interesting coincidence there are several more reviews just a few hours after I posted mine. FYI my son K** DURANA attended your preschool. I suggest finding a more efficient way to manage records. In any case, I wouldn’t recommend based on our experience

Our younger daughter attended Start Smart for her two years of preschool and we can only say wonderful things about her experience. All of the teachers have been exceptional-warm, kind and professional- and for our very shy child they helped her feel welcomed and safe.
I have also been blown away by the creative projects the kids have embarked on at this school. Our daughter will come home with such excitement talking about the different art activities they did.

Start Start is a truly amazing preschool. Rebecca and her team of incredible educators have created a magical program of art and music. My two children have thrived attending here, and I have nothing but positive things to say about this lovely preschool. The teachers are so loving, creative, energetic, and welcoming. I have nothing but good things to say about Rebecca, her team and the excellent start this program gave my son. It's hard sending your child off when they are so young, and they were amazing at handling that transition with kids and parents. The preschool content was creative, and staff was alway warm.

My son has gone here for the last year. It has been nothing but a great experience. He had never gone to daycare or had the experience being around so many kids his age at once. The teachers are amazing and have my son out of his shell and thriving. We thank you for all that the school has done to prepare him for kindergarten come September!

Rebecca and staff run a wonderfully creative and nurturing preschool. Rebecca has a wealth of experience and knowledge and was the first person to let us know that my daughter had some learning differences, and because of that early intervention, we were able to get the accommodations and tutoring needed to help my daughter thrive in school. I cannot be more thankful for the time my daughter had with Ms. Rebecca at Start Smart Preschool.

Great space, great teachers. My son thrived here and loved going to school! Nothing but good things to say about this program.

Four of my grandchildren (the oldest now12 and the youngest now 4) attended this pre school and I have only the best things to say about their programs, their multicultural approach including events and potlucks but most of all the warm and caring nature of Miss Rebecca and her team.

My son attends this great program and loves all his teachers and classmates. He enjoys talking about what he did in class, from the art projects, to the dancing and singing. I love the things this school is teaching him. It's such a positive experience to hear about his wonderful teachers and their educational approach. This engaging program has helped my son to be more outgoing.

At the beginning of each school year, parents are to attend the 1st hour to experience the setting. I enjoyed watching my son interact with his class, and am glad I was there. Ms. Rebecca and her team will attend to any child that needs extra help. Everyone is treated equal and fair. Don't just drop off your kid and expect the staff to magically fix them for you.

I would definitely recommend this program to other families.

Most importantly to note is that the preschool does not aim for diversity and inclusion. Showed cleared signs of racism. Disappointingly, we withdrew our son after just a few weeks of attending. We really did not like how things were being handled in transitioning our son into school. Their gradual entry protocol does not take cues from each child and adjust accordingly. They are set in their ways and have a one size fits all approach.

I found the owner Rebecca to be disrespectful, rude and condescending. The teachers aren’t very warm or nurturing. Teachers often look bored and unhappy. The opposite of educators and caregivers that I would want caring for my child.

Such a great school! Rebecca and all of the teachers are incredibly kind and work exceptionally hard to provide an awesome learning environment for all of the kids. Would highly recommend!

I always tell people about this preschool! It's so unique and a true gem in East Vancouver. All of the teachers at the school are so wonderful.

The best part, especially for parents, is the opportunity to watch all the kids perform at their December and June shows! It's amazing how these incredible teachers can get the children so engaged and excited to perform. It is clear they love what they do!

My daughter attended this wonderful preschool in the heart of one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city. She was very shy and quiet when she started and the focus on art, movement and creativity allowed her a warm environment to build relationships and come out of her shell. As a parent I loved the program and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The friendships we made with parents and students are for life. It gave us the chance to really bond with our neighbors and community.

My daughter loved this preschool - and so did I! Rebecca was the most amazing mixture of fun and creativity, learning and kindness. Five gold stars from us!
