Not recommended I paid 380.00 to sit for 4 hours for a haircut and dye roots and I wanted highlights for my parents 65th anniversary. I sent in a picture requesting lots of thick highlights. I left there trying to hold my tears back as I now have a few dental floss size highlights. I messaged ‘Mandy to tell her I liked my haircut but I’m dissatisfied and disappointed with my highlights and I’m in shock still of the outrageous price. She replied saying she gave me a good deal as with my hair she should have charges 450 to 500. I totally do not recommend this place total ripoff. She did say if I’m not happy she would add more but she also knows that I travelled from Tofino to get my hair done on my way to Manitoba. I told her that would be nice however it is far away to get there. Everyone that has seen my hair along with myself feel like she should reimburse me for the highlight charge however she has me on ignore now. Bad customer service.

I booked my appointment by text message with Mandy on Tuesday and got an answer shortly after for a Friday afternoon.
Mandy was professional and accommodating. Before the haircut, she took the time to understand what I was exactly looking for and made a couple of suggestions.
In the past, I used the services of other hairdressers and it always fell short. Mandy was way above my expectations, just enough banter to maintain the conversation but remained focus on her task. She was fast and accurate and gave me a couple of tips on how to arrange my hair properly and maintain their volume.
5 stars services, I highly recommend her!

The work is clean. While waiting for the hair done, Mandy offered me a freshly espresso coffee. The Salon observes the face mask and only one customer at a time. Price is average with quality service.

Best place in Coquitlam for a haircut! Mandy and her staff are excellent, and she really understands Asian hair and head shapes. Had been looking for a long time for a good hair salon before finding this one. Always a great experience!

Absolutely amazing. There needs to be 10 star rating because Mandy never delivers anything less. She is beyond a designer and artist! My hair quality is always something new and special. I’m so elated to always have my hair done by her. Thank you so so much Mandy

Mandy is very professional and patient. I have been her customer for four years and every time I was completely satisfied with the result. She listens to her customers and exactly does whatever they want. It has happened that I put wrong color on my hair and made a mess, and she easily fixed it. Friendly, clean and great staff. If you need to be some where and it is necessary to look good and time is an issue, you can call her last minute and she will find a solution and will book you ASAP. Highly recommended.

I have been committed to Vancut hair salon for some time because I can honestly say that they are AMAZING at what they do! Not only do they always keep the integrity of your hair in mind, but they also work hard to get you closest to the results you want! I have styled my hair for prom and a wedding here, done keratin treatments, and done highlights.
The staff are truly talented and they definitely know what they’re doing! I always book my appointments with Sama and Mandy. They are two of the most wonderful people I have met and they genuinely care about what they do. I have always got my desired results and never have I left the salon with any disappointment.
I always recommend this salon to everyone I know and I have family and friends who also go to this place and they are very happy with the service they receive!
I have just got a head of highlights which I ADORE, and since then I have got TONS of compliments.
Thank you for making my blonde dreams come true. ️

Poor customer service
They overcharged me for a simple flat ironing. I thought the price is the same as other salons but general prices are 15-20 $ higher than other places.
Will Never go there again!

My husband and I had hair appt. Today both great cuts mine took awhile but Mandy knows her stuff, I would recommend her thank you Mandy i love my hair cut, I showed photo, Mandy explained to me and showed me what she was gonna do the end result was awesome.

I went there on my birthday May 2nd the lady that she cut my hair was the owner with short hair and glasses to b honest she was so cheap and layer person she didn't did my hair that I want very mean stuff the day before she booked me for $40 but the next day when she did my hair she charge me for $50 she very mean and layer never will go there again

This is my second review plz don't b laying she booked me for $40 and then you charged $50 and you didn't spent hour an half on mine bcoz I came 11 and to told me I have another client 11: 45 and we were done around 11: 45 and you didn't ask me for next time for hair cut bcoz of my baby even at first I ask you is that ok to feed my baby you said yes when I finished feeding I per her back on stroller if u have camera check your camera then you will remember everything I'm telling to all don't West your time and money bcoz they are v cheap and layer people

Not only was my hair cut uneven, but the colouring of my hair should have only taken her two to three hours. It took from 1pm to 8: 30pm. This was done in November 2017 and till today my hair is badly chemically burnt and cannot be fixed with oil treatments as told by other stylist. Mandy also was panicking with a new trainee; over bleached, and forgot to add conditioner, and while she was giving hair cuts to school kids, one of the mom got upset as she did not do the right cut. Arguing with clients, she also quoted me based on ethnicity, blaming that my indian thick hair (which I'm persian), and then threatening me to pay $100 extra in middle of coloring is her style of service. In all the real reviews are the one with low ratings, cause that's the true experience. Never will be coming back, scarred from this place. Hope they admitt their mistakes and criticism, and grow and improve their buisness from there. But might just get backlash for my review is another proof I have on hand. Please don't waste ur money and time

I had a lovely morning with my daughter at Vancut Salon today. Big thanks to Mandy. I have been coming to see Mandy for many years now. You could tell how passionate Mandy is about hair and her salon. Every corner is well thought at the salon. She is very gentle handling my hair which I love. She is considerate because there's even a little area where she left all the plushy animals for little kids to play. I get lots of compliments on my haircuts everytime. Thank you so much!

Customer service was ok, but poor skills. My hair was uneven and there are parts that are longer than the other. She cut more than what i wanted, and it was already too short that I didn't want more hair to be cut so I didn't want her to fix it. At least people there are nice, but I don't think i would come back.

Updates: So I went back few days ago, and Mandy the manager fixed my hair, I am really satisfied with the result! She is super sweet and offers excellent customer service, didn't ask for a refund because of the result she gave me, a complimentary fixed is more than enough! Really appreciate her kind offer and wanting to make customers feel happy, so glad I gave them a second chance!

It's a nicely decorated salon in a great location (walking distance to the mall). The owner is very nice and hard working, but she wasn't good at gauging how much chemical and time to use in my Japanese hair straightening. For this reason, I wouldn't go there for that treatment. For other treatments, I'm sure she's fine.

Mandy is one of the most professional and caring hairstylists I have ever met. She explains her steps, asks questions and ensures you are aware and satisfied along the way. I have recently gone from dark brown to balayage ash blonde and couldn’t be any happier. In the past, I’ve had other stylists attemp to lighten my hair with very little success (I have stubborn hair) but she worked her magic and with one try, I had a hair color that I was not only proud to have but had numerous compliments for. Since then, I’ve gone to see her to continuously for keratin, additional highlights and a haircut. It’s refreshing to find someone who genuinely cares and strives to have you leave happy. She’s even followed up with me days after to check up on how my hair reacted after washes and etc. It’s a shame for anyone to take advantage of her kind and caring nature. Truly a talented team of professional and knowledge hair stylists.

The absolute worst salon experience in 30 years. Mandy absolutely destroyed my hair. I had booked for half a head of foils and trim. She convinced me to do a full head. We decided to keep the blonde on my ends and lighten my roots to match. No toner, only purple shampoo she told me. She was interrupted applying the bleach by a client's unhappy husband, and after yelling at each other for 10 minutes on the street, she refunded their money and then came back to slap bleach onto my hair, hands shaking, not speaking. She then left me to cut a man's hair then take a break. When she finally re-emerged and asked her asst.to check the progress of my foils, based on their faces I knew something was wrong. When I asked why they were wiping the bleach off my roots and then applying new bleach to my ends I was told this was her "technique" for doing blonde - even though she previously carefully applied conditioner to avoid my ends. When I eventually saw the colour difference I realized that not only had they left an inch of dark root, but the top third of my hair was so bleached it didn't match any of my ends. They then rushed me to the sink where they washed the bottom half of bleach off, and while head dripping tried to blow dry and heat the top to process it faster. Needless to say when she washed it all out, my ends were gummy, fried and completely over processed and destroyed. I now have an inch of dark roots and fried length. She told me I need toner, which she later admitted would either turn my hair green or orange. I left with sopping wet hair, no longer able to listen to her lies. She even made me pay.which I terribly regret now but in the moment I didn't know what to do. I am sorry, if I screw up a job that badly I would never make a customer pay. She lies and is genuinely not a nice person. Had she admitted to any of her mistakes it might have been better but to argue and lie is a horrible way to treat your customers.

ADDRESSING YOUR RESPONSE BELOW:
I am not surprised by your response - again only telling half truths. I trusted you. You are only sharing what you choose to in order to protect your reputation. I left the salon after seeing you trying to dry the one side of my fried hair. You knew it was damaged and not at all the colour we discussed. I went straight to my mom's and she was appalled by what you had done to my hair and that was why she called to tell you she would never be back. It was only then you offered to have me come back to give me some conditioner to fix the damage. You admitted toner would do nothing to fix the texture you created in my hair. You neglect to mention the fight with another customer and your shaking and how upset you were. You are not truthful about what you said about my existing hair colour. I regret calling you a horrible person, but you certainly did not handle my time in your salon professionally and you make up truths to try and cover your mistakes with my hair, and others it would seem. People can come to their own conclusions.

I will start by saying how the owner Mandy texted me an apparent drunk, extremely disrespectful message on Saturday 1: 30 IN THE MORNING!

Because of that I will share the story I firstly wanted to keep for my self:

I decided to do my hair blonde (I had ombré) as my 30 th birthday was in 2 days.

Long story short:
- I was there more than 10 hrs (missed my birthday dinner)
- in her first attempt she made half of my hair purple and needed to recoloured it (first she asked me if it’s ok to leave it like that. NO, it’s not ok! In that moment I knew she messed up).
- Only information I got was - don’t worry, don’t worry, otherwise she talked Persian with her employees
- my hair was burned and extremely dry, cut way to short due the damage but she insisted I should be happy because is blonde, she kept repeating: but you like the colour right? As that is the most important thing
- I needed to fight for discount ($70)

Few days after when I was washing my hair I couldn’t stop crying, because it was falling and breaking in my hands, it was extremely dry so I couldn’t style it whatsoever.

My husband called her for help, explaining what’s happening and how unhappy I am, what do use, what to do.she hanged up on him!

That was extremely upsetting for me! I wanted to go there to show her how my hair looks like and how bad the situation is! However, my husband went, he was way more logical and calm, and he even took her out so her clients don’t hear what was the problem!

She insisted I should be happy with my hair because it’s blonde, and how she knows I am happy but I just want to take her money.
Seriously? !

After my husband insisted she should or fix it or return the money she gave him $150 and kept $200.

And then the next morning I saw her message sent at 1: 30 in the morning on how I ruined her day, how she wish bad things happen to me and my family, how she wish someone abuse me.

I really hope that was a drunk message, because my mind can’t comprehend how could one professional, one business owner, concisely act like that! I was your first time client not a friend that you can text after midnight about your emotional problems.

Anyway, obviously I would not recommend this place to anyone!

I learned that it’s all is fun and game when things go right, but when things go bad- then you see who is professional, who knows how to solve the problem and who is worthy of your time and money. Definitely not Mandy.

I just hope I’ll not get another threatening message in the middle of the night after this comment.

RESPONDING TO MESSAGE BELOW:

Honestly, are you even aware of yourself and your actions?

Firstly, I showed you a picture of the colour I want, and I didn’t change my mind during the process!
After you put your shampoo and made my hair purple AF you said that you thought I want silver!
I don’t want silver, I don’t want purple, I just want blonde- those were my words!

Secondly, I didn’t INSISTED blonde! I told you do your magic, do what you can, that I understand if I need to come few times to get that colour and that I understand I will need to cut my roots (not the half of my hair!) This is not first time I’m going blonde!

Thirdly, there is big difference between 5 hr and more than 10hr! I came in at 10am and left after 8pm!
Obviously, if you didn’t do mistake it would be 5 hr!

When it comes to my husband, he didn’t yell at you- you yelled at him! He even took you out for purpose of not making scene in front of your client!
And then you are telling your clients, that he came to ask to refund the gel product I bought?
Oh Mandy!

There is NO excuse for you to send me that kind of message in any time of the day!
Shame on you!
Who do you think you are and where do you think you are? !

That day you messed up another woman’s hair, didn’t you?
And then you texted me in the middle of the night as it’s my fault!

You are lost.
