Viti Wine and Lager (Downtown Vancouver)

I stopped drinking beer years ago because I stopped drinking alcohol completely.   But I still like the taste of beer, and the social aspect of drinking. So I’ve spent a good deal of time looking for non-alcoholic beers that taste as good as a real beer.   It’s not easy to find good non-alcoholic beers but Erdinger Alkoholfrei is one of the best there is.   It’s an imported German beer and I used to drink the Erdinger Weibbier 5.3% alcohol version, back in the day, and I thought it was a great beer.   So I was happy to discover they had an alcholhol free version.

The other piece of this puzzle is Viti Wine And Lager Liquor Store, on Seymour Street in Downtown Vancouver.   This is one of the few places in Vancouver that carries Erdinger Alkoholfrei beer.   Apparently they carry a lot of speciality, imported, or hand-crafted products from all over the world.   It’s a small and very intimate space that’s jam packed with bottles, but the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.   It’s great store to have in downtown Vancouver, especially for people who like to walk to a local store and grab a bottle or two, rather than drive to a much larger store where you have to fight traffic all the way there and back.

I also love the Brittany Spears themed tip cup, at the counter. Nice touch.

Great quality merchant, covering wine and beer. As an overseas visitor I was interested in its domestic offerings - it did not disappoint.

The staff member serving was knowledgeable and more than helpful in guiding me towards some producers I was seeking. Looking to get back as I regret not picking up the Quebecois Baltic Porter I should have grabbed.

Most negative reviews mention a particular staff member; i've only been here 3-4 times but all staff have been super lovely so far?

I loved this place, especially the helpful staff that worked there - all except for one. An older dweeb with glasses.

I understand depression. I understand one hating a job but I, being one that also works in the service industry (and one who suffers from depression) can at least be kind or, if all else fails, fake it until you make it. This dweeb doesn’t. I can also get a sense that the other staff who work alongside him are affected by his demeanour.

Long story short, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. That dweeb has deterred me from ever entering the place again.

I don’t want to get too much into it, but the older Caucasian cashier left a bad mark on this store. Somebody clearly hurt him at one point in his life, and now he’s unjustifiably hostile, rude, and angry towards customers.
Most of the other staff are nice people, the selection of drinks is quite unique/fresh and I can always find something nice. Price is bit much, but it’s downtown, so that’s okay. Overall, I’d go back for sure, but just be wary of the one guy.

Conveniently located, this liquor store is kinda small but it actually has everything you’ll need. The staff is fairly friendly.

Decent selection, but both times i went here (both alone and with someone) the staff went out of their way to be rude, dismissive, or otherwise make me feel unwelcomed as a customer. The last time I was there, I approached the counter to pay and the older guy behind the register decided he would count all of the nickels in the register rather than ring me up, then be rude to me and my date.

I always go to this liquor store to get drinks since its near by and never once had the old Caucasian cashier even acknowledge the fact that we were there. Not welcoming whats so ever. Even making a purchase he could care less. If I could give this zero stars for customer service I would.

Close this place down. Prices are a little higher than other stores but the service is the worst. Walked in today, asked the lady a question and mid conversation she proceeded to talk to someone, I walked out straight away. Similar experience to other reviewers l.

Horrible customer service! They never said hello, thank you or even goodbye! The girl at the front sat there cleaning instead of asking me if I needed her to ring me up. Then the person who actually rang me up and another employee started a whole conversation in the middle of my transaction before finishing. Take your business somewhere else! Poor excuse for a neighborhood liquor store.

Asked a very simple question and was rebuffed by a very rude member of staff. Tip to the owner your customers are important it’s best not to be outright rude to them. I will not be visiting this establishment again.

Quick service, nice recommendations. Only thing I feel was the overcrowded store.but the beer and wine are supposed to be that way. I love it when the service is efficient and with a smile.

I visited this place to buy a present for my father. I know nothing about liquor and the staff helped me so kindly. He showed me all whiskey&gin&wine recommendations from the Canada (cause I asked for something Canadian) and I could finally buy a whiskey made in a distillery in Vancouver. I haven't give this to my father yet but Im sure he's gonna love it anyway. 아버지 선물사드리러 갔는데 직원분 너무 친절하게 이것저것 추천해주셨어요ㅎㅎ 저는 술을 안마셔서 진과 위스키가 뭐가 다른지도 모르는데 추천해주신 밴쿠버산 위스키로 잘 사왔습니다. 아직 아버지 안 드렸는데 뭐 좋아하시겄죠ㅋㅋ

Super friendly staff and amazing beer and wine selection. They ordered in a case of beer from out of town that was hard to obtain. Amazing shop and so pleased to have them downtown. Way better beer selection than the BC Signature Liquor store.

They locked the door 4 min before closing. Somebody was died in front of my eyes. And I need to relieve stress. And I was running to buy a bottle of wine but they were closed already! And I saw few people through the door and they purposely ignored me! So upset. Will never go there again!

This liquor store offers very rare and unique items which are close to impossible to find elsewhere at mainstream liquor stores. The customer service is excellent. Prices are somewhat on the higher end, however you get access to alcohol that you can't purchase anywhere else. Worth a visit.
