Waves Coffee House - Shaughnessy

It’s unfortunate the owner is clueless when it comes to playing nice in the sand box. If you want to be treated with rudeness and outright hostility then this is your place. Not for me, I am happy spending my money where I am not confronted and rushed to leave because a friend sits down to chat for a few minutes. This owner doesn’t deserve my business. If i need to give my money to a clown, I will go to McD!

I was there with 4 grandchildren. The person who helped us was so pleasant. The older kids had hot chocolate with whipped cream (and a marshmallow). The little ones had cold milk but the lady came over to our table and gave them each a marshmallow too so they wouldn’t feel left out. A small but very appreciated touch. Someone who knows kids?
It was a great experience because of her.

Highly recommended! Hazelnut Latte was just amazing. Got to meet the owner and their baristas. Beautiful place and such friendly people who work there! Once in BC will be back for sure for another drink and sweets!

I got to spend a few hours at Waves today while waiting for my vehicle to finish being serviced and had a delightful time. Amir and Natalie were both extremely helpful, patient, kind, friendly, and provided excellent customer service. The food and drink I had were also delicious and very well made. I highly recommend this Waves branch - thank you Waves team!

An uncomfortable experience with the owner, Fariborz. I often bring my employees to this cafe to support my neighbor (I live in the same neighborhood). This weekend, internet was down in my house, and I had a time-sensitive task to complete. Unfortunately, the owner coerced me to leave as i had not bought coffee from him. His argument was that the space being occupied by me (i.e, one individual) affects his sales, even though one third of the store was empty during my presence. I found the owner coercive and unsympathetic—not sure if will I continue to take my team to this cafe in the future.

Exceptional service with an incredible atmosphere!
You feel cared for and appreciated as a guest when there. The entire crew always goes overboard to ensure that what you receive beyond your expectations and the visit is more of an experience that welcomes you back.
I HIGHLY recommend making this a regular part of your routine, or just for a treat!

I go to the school next door and when I went in to buy a croissant (I had my own coffee from somewhere else) the man called me something very terrible in Farsi which he thought I didn’t understand but I do.it’s disgusting the way they treat people. Won’t be going back there

Dont sit on benches outside of Store, if you dont buy coffee. Staff is really stupid that you cant even sit there for 10 minutes if you dont buy anything. ENJOY YOUR COFFEE!

I normally don't like chain cafes but this one is special to me and my partner. We sometimes drive 30 minutes just to get there and get their perfect Moca with Spinach feta cheese. I love the couple who are working there:)

We've always enjoyed mochas and especially enjoyed the spinach bistro pastry, and found the owners friendly and the space pleasant.

Updated this from a 4 star to a 1 star, the owner has been rude on numerous occasions.

I went here twice in the past couple weeks (I used to go quiet often pre pandemic), and every time, after an hour or two, the owner would interrupt what you're doing and ask if you would like to order something else.

The other time I went with 2 friends, and one of my friends were on a diet and didn't order anything, but the two of us did, and the owner came to us MULTIPLE times asking my friend if he wanted to order something, after the third time he said, "It's getting busy, I'm going to ask you to leave", despite the fact that we had already ordered 15$+ worth of drinks. Absolutely will not come back. I understand that it's tough time, but being treated like this is unacceptable.

The drinks and pastries, are standard for Waves Coffee.

The owner here gave people a hard time for sitting at a public seat outside of this establishment, and those seats did not even belong to Waves. The owner is rude and crass. Price for a coffee here is also higher than Starbucks yet Starbucks tastes better.

My friend and I were hanging out at this Waves. My friend had some digestive issue and the doctor didn't allow him to have coffee and sugar. I made sure I ordered a coffee and a sandwich for myself before we sat down - my bill was well over $20.

But the moment we sat down and the owner saw my friend without a drink, he requested us to leave. He was super rude and unprofessional. It's such a nice place but is completely ruined by the owner's attitude.

The food and drink are ok. But I would never come back again.

I order matcha latte and when I grab the drink and find out the drink in warm temperature, I expected my matcha latte in a hot temperature. I returned back and she remake another one for me. The banana bread taste too sweet. Not healthy choice.

Sunday morning early afternoon staff are very flustered and not efficient. My friend ordered a matcha latte (it was made luke warm). Also no smiles or a genuine personality like that of the husband and wife owners. We miss them.but good for them for taking time off. They’ve been working 6-7days a week for a very long time

The most unpleasant and unappreciative owner! He acts like he doing charity to sell you a cup of coffee and giving you a chair to sit! Foods and cakes are awful at this location as well.go to Take Five across the street, much better coffee and service

Tried to order a decaf drink as I am pregnant. I asked they offer any decaf orange pekoe or decaf earl grey? The server proceeds to tell me that technically black tea by definition is never decaf. I asked if she meant no? She then said we have white tea and still never answered so I said never-mind can I have a decaf coffee? She said they do not offer decaf coffee! Her colleague then said they do have decaf espresso, so I ordered that. Why was this interaction so difficult? Cappuccino was good though!

One of the most friendly places to grab a coffee or a snack to have a quiet chat with your friends or people watch at one of many tables available outside or inside. Definitely the heart of downtown POCO

I met a friend today who just lost a family menber. They came and their tears. We were sitting for a few minutes (less than 5 minutes) to just settle things before we ordered. Make owner was cleaning a nearby table and he was incredibly rude and said everyone needed to order something or leave …. The place was packed: We were going to order but he pushed us. We stayed but I’ll never go back.
