As best as service can get! Chris helped me find the best boot for my feet and a binding that does everything I needed. Additionally, he didn’t push the latest, full priced products on me, rather he listened to what I needed and found the best price as well. He patiently spent over an hour with me and am very happy with my purchase! Go see Chris for boot needs! 5-stars are well deserved.

We were in the market for some ski gear and decided to swing by Westside. Having seen the positive reviews, I was curious what set them apart. Well, it’s their staff. They are a wonderful group of people, who are patient, educated, and very friendly. Throughout the duration of our visit, we were checked in on multiple times, had great conversations, and given a lot of helpful advice. It’s easy to support a store like this. We’ll be back. A special shout out to Chris! He’s a gem.

If you want a local, down to earth and trustworthy team to help advise on ski gear, these guys are the place to go. My boyfriend and I both brought ski boots here and Chris sorted us out. Would 10/10 recommend!

Got a ski tuneup and bought new poles. Great service and very knowledgeable staff/owners. Prices are competitive compare to other places. Also they have a senior dog welcoming you. Hard to beat!

We used the form on their website to book a ski boot purchase (and fitting) for myself and my wife. It was really great to book it and know that we were guaranteed help for a full 1h 30m - 2h.

We were served by Steve, who was incredibly knowledgeable and patient - absolutely ace bloke. We’re new to skiing in Canada (from pistes in Europe), so he did a great job explaining the difference in ski types out here. He is also a wizard at boot fitting - I’ve never found something that can accommodate my ankles and he nailed it first time. He’s an absolute expert, and really reassuring.

Loved the service, the people and the vibes in this shop - we’ll definitely be back.

Seriously, Chris is a legend, we must have tried 8 pairs of boots over 2-3 hours before we found some that worked for my funky proportioned feet. Just purchased my first set of ski gear (skis, bindings, boots, and poles) as an adult. I've been skiing since I was a kid, but at a very casual level and have always simply rented whenever I went as an adult, and didn't really have much knowledge as to what I should be looking at. I was approached by the owner, Steve, who was extremely patient with me and gave me a ton of great insight into what I should be looking at, while balancing my vanity and showing me some products that I also felt aesthetically looked great. Compared to some of the other shops I've been to on the same street, this shop had the best service and best vibes out of them all. Some of the other staff also chimed in to chat which added to the friendly environment.

I highly recommend checking out Westside as your first stop for ski gear before going to some of the other stores nearby!

My wife and I are from New Zealand and chose to go here because of the reviews. We weren't disappointed, Chris was great, sorted both of us out with custom fitted boots and skis for my wife. It was a really great experience and we had a great ski trip.

West side knows customer service. My partner bought the perfect downhill ski boot with their help and recommendation last year, and we went back again this year for myself. We both love the boots selected for us! They encourage you to look around for deals before buying, so great for not overselling you equipment beyond your needs. Really trustworthy and knowledgeable staff for your downhill ski needs.

I was so impressed with the level of service. This feels like the small local ski shops I grew up with which is rare in todays retail world.

My SO and I were looking for beginner mountain bikes and had no idea where to start. We're so glad we came to Westside Ski Bike Board which helped introduce us to Chris! He was super knowledgeable and fantastic! He shared a lot of great info and was super patient with us until the end. Loved the overall customer service here. Thank you for such a great experience!

I waited for approximately 2 years for a part to come in for my partner’s electric bicycle after she fell and damaged the cycle computer bracket. After 2 years and over 20 calls and emails stating the part was still on order I contacted Shimano Canada myself and found that Westside sports had ordered the wrong part and that the part I needed was readily available on eBay.
Two years of waiting for the wrong part to arrive on an bike that cost me over $4,000 in 2020 from Westside Sports with a trip computer that is being held together by tape and clamps.
Probably the worst after sales service that I have ever experienced!

Really nice staff, but let me down on after sale support.

I came into the shop Dec 31,2021 for a bootfitting with Jakub. I explained to him that I had some skis (showed pictures) and that I was moving over from snowboarding and wanted new boots so that I could use the skis I already had. I know little about skiing equipment and relied on Jacob's professional advice. The skis I had were ISO 5355 system bindings, so I could not switch the bindings. Jacob helped me find the boot he thought was best for my foot, which was the Technica Cochise 120, ISO 9523. I didn't even know about all the different ISOs at the time.

So the boots don't fit the skis, but Jacob said don't worry we can order a new sole and these boots will fit your skis. I called back multiple times but I was told that there was no stock for the new sole I needed. Initially, I walked into Westside Sports thinking I would get great fitting boots and have a great season, instead I bought $650 boots that do not fit my equipment I owned, and I had to rent skis for the rest of the season.

I am disappointed I bought something that doesn't work with what I already own, and more disappointed feeling like I was blown off. I have waited until the end of the season to write this review hoping someone would have followed up. However, that did not happen and I am still stuck with boots and skis that don't work together.

This is the best ski shop in Vancouver! The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. It’s such a pleasant experience buying and tuning ski gear here every year; I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Chris helped me find the perfect new skiis after skiing on the same old skiis for 15 years. I absolutely love my new skiis; he was bang on!

Recently I wrecked my skis and had to grab a new pair. They were really helpful. Initially I was worried I'd be judged for ruining my pretty new skis, but they made me feel really welcomed and even showed concern for my fall. Thanks again!

This is hands down the best ski/ board shop in Vancouver. Chris and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and will generously share their expertise without ever pressuring you to buy. Having tried all other shops in the area, this shop is miles above the rest. Chris helped me find ski boots when other shops told me I was ''unfittable'' and has helped me twice since then when I have come back for adjustments. West side might not look like the biggest shop in town, but the stock they have is all tried and tested by the staff, and the quality/ price of the items is unbeatable. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

I cannot recommend this place more, especially out of all the shops along West 4th. Plenty of high quality products. Knowledgable and personable staff who are willing to put in the effort to educate you on what you should be considering. I was disappointed with the lack of service I received from a shop just a few metres away, walked into Westside and received top notch service immediately. Support your local homies and shop here!

Vancouver “GO-TO” Mountain Sport Shop

Walk past the rest and come to the best! In alignment with the mountain of five star ratings and positive feedback already attributed to this shop, I can confirm this place is a true testament to award-winning care, diligence and high-level knowledge in the directed fields of expertise - that far exceeds those of others. They sell quality items they have had direct experience with and trust. The individuals in this team put faith, knowledge and integrity back into the retail experience - that these bigger retail stores, with inexperienced high employee turnover, will never match.

I was discouraged by other experiences prior to coming to this shop - partly because I had limited reference points to rebound ideas and the store staff of other stores were so disconnected - especially a few days before Christmas. Both Steve and Chris were heavily invested in making sure my purchase was the right choice for me, in a manner that provided an educated platform that will transcend into long term savings and functionality going forward in this sport. I actually had to upsell myself to items I wanted lol, but they controlled my purchases to maintain their input of honesty and knowledge of what would be the most functional, best value and what would provide me the best skiing experience. They operate like a family team and you can see the integrity of Steve and Chris transcend to the rest of the staff- the new young guy was equally enthusiastic.

As a BC born and raised guy, I am proud to support a locally-owned shop that is the epitome of the result of a passionate owner’s efforts. I will make this my “go-to” place for all applicable sports, and I highly recommend you and your family follow the same practice.

I have challenging feet for ski boot fitting and Steve managed to get me set up with the most comfortable performant ski boot I've ever had. First time out in them today and they were 100% well fitted and comfortable and performed superbly. Thanks Steve, I'll be recommending you to all my friends.

Life changing experience!

This sounds a little dramatic but for someone who was born with a club foot, ski boots really are not built for someone like me. Further to that, I ski big mountain, and live on the East Coast so my selection is slim to none. But West Side (and specifically Chris) helped me find a boot that I will probably have for the next 10 years.

I had a planned Vancouver trip so started calling various ski shops in the city. I got the usual response from most which is basically "you're not that special", until I spoke to Jacob at West Side. We chatted for 20 minutes! I certainly had a good feeling going in.

On my fitting day I went in and described my challenges in full. Chris listened intently, took my measurements and was thoughtful about the problem. He took the time to describe what we were looking for. Fortunately, West Side carries top of the line quality, as well as boot fitting know how to customize boots for you. For the first time ever I have boots that feel like they fit both my feet (which are 2 full US sizes different!).

Thank you to the West Side team, it is tough to describe how much this experience means to me!

Excellent customer service - went in search of bikes and they were able to find the perfect fit based on skill and aspirations. Chris walked us through his recommendations, let us test the bikes, and found us each the perfect fit. Went back for tune-ups and added gear and again everyone was so awesome to deal with. All the staff are helpful and friendly, without pressuring to buy. Highly recommend!

Being a total non-cyclist, I'm not at all familiar with the terms etc. Every interaction I had with employees (4 total) was totally positive and amazing. No judgement at all for my newbie-ness and took the time to explain to me what it all meant. I called ahead and when I arrived an hour later, he'd set aside all the shoes they had in my size (!) I got advice with sizing and then they installed the clips for me (thank God).

To add to my high maintenance, I had to come back a few days later so they could show me how to clip in (‍️). The employee even pulled out his bike shop I could try!

Excellent staff that help you find the best product from their well selected range of gear. I recently got fitted for the Boot Doc foam liner and it has been such a game changer for my skiing! I used to ski race and I wanted to improve the performance and accuracy of my boots, and these liners did just that! And a bonus they are super comfortable. The process was super easy and I was able to take my boots home right away. Very highly recommend if you are looking to get some extra performance out of your skiing!

Very poor service. I understand that if I want to try anything on I would need to buy socks due to Covid, but what I asked for is to see if they have boots I could see before I buy new socks that I don’t need. The answer was basically no. Considering we have 5 family members who regularly purchase good quality ski and snowboard gear, it is a shame that there wasn’t more effort to accommodate a simple request. We will never go back there again.

All other reviews of Westside helped me choose to make a very big purchase decision for my wife and I here, and all were true. Professional, Knowledgeable and Practical experience made our boot fitting, and subsequent ski, pole purchase (not planned) a VG experience. Sure the larger stores have stock but there is no substitute working with those that live out their work on their days off. Thanks Chris and team! We’ll be back.

Fantastic shop! Jacob was super friendly, knowledgable and the only bootfitter who noticed that one foot was 5mm wider than the other!

Love this shop! Full bootfitting service + modifications are included in the price of ski boots and was excellent - I've bought boots at other shops before and didn't know what I was missing. Staff are friendly, helpful, and there's a cute dog.

I came to Westside Ski looking for a new snow jacket and other skiing gear and the staff was extremely helpful and attentive from start to finish. I had a wonderful experience here and would go here again knowing that I will be getting friendly and reliable service.

On the positive, the service from Steve was friendly and supportive. However, his advice for ski boots was awful. I have never had a more uncomfortable pair of ski boots. Even going back and getting them re-fitted didn't help. And as it turns out they were one size to big in the boot (according to an expert boot fitter), and the flex was too much for my bruised shins. So unfortunately, the money is wasted.

Do yourself a favour and get a new pair of boots from Westside. Hands down the most professional and friendly staff in the area. My level of stoke is 11 for this place.

Just great! Chris is an expert and he's suggestions worked perfectly. Never before I had such nice and easy control over my skis, and all because of right boots and right fit. Overall experience was 10 out of 10. Highly recommend.

I work as a ski instructor and went to get fitted for boots at Westside. After waiting for 45mins I was told I wouldn't be fitted unless I paid 60$ for a fitting because and I quote "I won't make any money from selling you a pro deal" When I explained that they had me wait and people that customers that get fitted but opt not to buy boots are not charged he shrugged. I wasn't going to argue and decided to leave. On my way out he said "good luck with your pro deal" overall a really terrible experience. The condescending comment at the end was so rude and totally uncalled for. This store was a recommendation and has great reviews wondering if this is a new hire. If so he may be a good boot fitter but his customer service skills leaves much to be desired.
