Nice community theatre, fairly intimate, worked very well for the comedy show we saw. Could offer 1 extra level of beverage quality (wine and beer).

Staff were very friendly and helpful

My husband and I went to see a comedy show at the players club, first time there, and it was a cozy little place. The comedy show was great.

This production of the Fantasticks is absolutely magical. I highly recommmend anyone in South Surrey/White Rock get your tickets before the show is over. The sets and costumes transport you into a setting outside any one era, it feels modern and vintage at the same time.the music was beautiful, the harp was so unique for such a small production and the pianist was so passionate. The actors are phenomenal.

“Best Divorce Ever” written by Ville Nummenpää, directed by Julianne Christie
Absolutely wonderful—a great mix of comedy, sadness, tender emotions & perspective.
An eye-opener about why women think one way and men think the other; when a wife and husband, Anna (Martina Biljan) and Otto (Alexander Pfleger), are talked to, in the funniest and most entertaining way, and convinced by their peeps at work about how relationships work….
The acting was terrific and touched upon so many situations that would lead to the best divorce ever! Thank you so much for the outstanding performances and amazing hard work from everyone involved behind the scenes.
An excellent production. It touched my heart. It made me laugh; it made me cry! I loved the style of presentation. A huge shoutout to director, Julianne Christie, who is an influential and amazing director!
Looking forward to what’s next Julianne!

The Best Divorce Ever

This was our first play of the season and we love this venue.

We thought that the play was to long and hard to hear the actors sometimes.

Honestly, our favorite character was the person who played the 3rd office colleague that had no speaking lines but her facial expressions and how she interacted was hilarious.

This play had it's moments for sure but we felt it fell short.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to catch the opening night performance of Best Divorce Ever, a Finnish love (and un-love) story, written by playwright Ville Nummenpää and directed by Julianne Christie. And true love, it was! As the curtain opens, we find ourselves in the living room of passionate, yet practical Anna (Martina Biljan) and impressionable, lovable Otto (Alexander Pfleger). The two are setting their room for their upcoming divorce party.
What follows is a sincere and thought-provoking journey through the past and present of the events leading up to this party, narrated by your new best friend, Stephen JF Walker as the Narrator. The character work in this piece is well developed and even he, (the Narrator) has an arc. The set was also beautifully, and wisely, created, allowing for many easy and believable changes of venue. Marjo (Natalie Peters) and Anna are in perfect comedic unison as office ladies, with the annoyingly handsome, Boss Sebastian (Erik Kavanaugh), hair-flipping his way through to have us all simpering in our seats. Dann Wilhelm as Elmo is equally hilarious as we see the men on break at their Village-People-infused construction site. Beth Cantor provides almost ridiculous comedy in the backgrounds of both scenes and truly shines as a non-principal player. This play wants us to laugh, and it give us a big push with the performance of Bryce Paul Mills, whose Security Guard character reaches an almost camp level of humor and absurdity.
But it was not all heart candies and vodka. Albeit for only a few moments, this play also asked us to experience deep sadness. A friend I attended with professed afterwards to letting a tear fall from his eye during that pivotal scene. We highly enjoyed this piece and cannot wait and see what Nummenpää, Christie, Biljan, Phlegar and the rest of this talented cast do next. Get down to White Rock and see this while you can!
