White Spot Kensington

I was sitting at this table by the window for 30 minutes after ordering and still waiting for my food. My wife and I were losing our patience.
After our food finally arrived, I asked the server for extra fries. It never came. I needed my water refilled but could not find the server.
Whitespot, you need to add more competent staffs. You only had 8 tables. The service should not be this slow.
We live around the neighbourhood. Our family comes to dine here about 5 times a year. After this bad experience we don't know if we ever want to come back. I hate to see a local Canadian business going down like this.
I voiced my concern to the manager, Mike, I think. He acknowleged poor service we received and sincerely apologized to us. I accepted this and now want to give this Whitespot another try in the future.
Giving this place an honest 3/5.

Very good food, would definately recommend this place to anyone who wants great food, awesome service as well, keep up the good work!

Manager named Den is rude. I recently visited this restaurant with my family, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. However, what we encountered was absolutely appalling. The manager of the restaurant approached us shortly after we were seated and informed us that our child might "bore" other customers and that we should leave. I was shocked and deeply offended by this behavior.

As a parent, I understand that dining with children can sometimes be challenging, but that does not excuse such blatant discrimination. We were treated as if our presence was unwelcome simply because we had a child with us. It's disheartening to think that in this day and age, a restaurant would openly discriminate against families. Probably because we are a latin family, and the manager was very agressive toward us.

The manager's attitude was rude and unprofessional. Instead of addressing the issue tactfully or offering solutions, they chose to embarrass us and make us feel like second-class customers. We were left humiliated and frustrated.

I would strongly advise anyone considering dining at this establishment to think twice. No one should have to endure the humiliation and mistreatment that my family and I experienced. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that value and appreciate the diversity of their customers. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a dining experience that actually values all patrons.

Food's fine, people swearing in the restaurant, which I wouldn't mind if I didn't have my kids with me.

Update: Ordered delivery. Burger was burnt, the fish in the fish and chips was dry and hard - very small pieces. As for the fries, looks like they gave me all the remnants in the frying basket.

Whomever packed the the burger put it on its side in the bag. The sauces leaked out into the bag and the burger was messed up.

My husband and me were passing by and decided to stop here to have dinner. We had been at another location before so we already knew the kind of service and food is served in here but this time we ordered something different that we hadn't tried before.
I had a chicken salad (because I was having a lot of morning sickness during the day since I was pregnant) that came with some toast, some nuts and spicy sauce. I thought it was a simple one but it had some dressing that made it very delicious and eatable for my taste. I enjoyed it so much that even my husband wanted to try some.
And he ordered the 3 piece fish and chips that came with coleslaw. This last one was a fresh one and the fish was very well done and big for the price we paid.
The service was very kind and fast and it was not crowded that day, it was a Wednesday when we went here and just because of the great service of the server is that we are going back here, more than the food (even though we liked what we ate very much).

Never mind that the food was burnt today, they gave us frozen apple pie. Like not cooked. No oven working oven, unsure what to do.

Worst service I d ever had. If I can give negative star. I will. Arrive restaurant at 4;35pm. Food finaly arrived at 5: 27pm.among 2 kids meals, one was wrong.need to wait for another 1/2hour for the correct order. Imagine facing 2 starving 6,8 years old kids for 1.5hours.what did it look like. Adult order were correct but with 2 burnt burger bun. Overheard other guests in restaurant encounteres same thing.wrong orders, kids waited for at least 45mins. I think lack of staff is the main problems. I can tell the servers are stressed.
Will no recommend anyone to this location.

Once again I went here and my burger was made upside down and cold and the turkey dinner was ok you think for that price they would throw in a roll. No condiments at and I had to remind them to give me our drink.

Had a birthday party here. Food was as usual.not bad. Service was terrible, still gave the young lady a good tip but had to bus my own tables and ask for refills.

My 2 little boys (age 6 and 4) and myself enjoy this White Spot location. Friendly staff and attentive.
Food is also very good. Can’t complain with their pirate packs and kids meal.

It's White Spot so you know what you're getting. This location is particularly good as the wait staff is excellent, the kitchen is quick and after dozens and dozens of meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, I find the consistency of the quality refreshingly good.

Very disappointing! I had a take out order yesterday and it was the worst fish & chip ever. The fish was small portion, dry and slightly burnt. There was only about 10 pieces of french fries. And they forgot the cole slaw. I tried calling the Kensington White Spot right away, but they were not taking phone calls. To White Spot, I know things have been tough but you really should not be ripping off your customers off. We are regular White Spot customers. But I think we will be ordering our food elsewhere.

This is now my favorite spot to visit with friends. Good food, great service. Happy hour was entirely happy.
Got to the store @ 4 PM for happy hour. Staff we all on top of their game. Most of staff live and go to school nearby (SFU and local secondary schools; they are all smart. My friends and I had appys (6 in all) with beers and had great conversations. Staff joined into the repartee. Lot's of fun.

The food was excellent and tasty, the quesadilla was filling and enough for two and so was the flatbread. The legendary burger is juicy and just the right size. The service was faltering however and the air conditioner could have used a boost.

Love&Hate
I love White Spot and I hate Whit Spot Kensington Store. Why? Because Kensington store is very close for us. So my wife and my son usually go there. But the restaurant has a lot of problem, cold customer service, usually nobady entrydesk. And they say usually lie to order like 2 minutes 3 minutes. 3 staff there 2 staff there, such as kindergarten. White Spot is very good restaurant but without Kensington Branch. By the way it makes a lot of mistakes to orders. So I hate the store.

As always their ribs are good.

A little far away from home but this location is open until “late”. At least they don’t close so early.

Food is okay, but the service is quite poor. I asked one of the servers for the bill. She did not respond to me—a Cypriot woman—so I got up and grabbed another server to pay for my meal.

Tasty food with a lot of varieties to choose from. Preferred west Coast salmon burger and house salad. Nice dining area and friendly atmosphere.

Good place to eat with children. I appreciate the colouring sheet and crayons that they give kids. Food can take a while sometimes. Come when you are not in a rush.

Dinner was overall good, however the regular fries seemed a little old or not fresh. My son got sweet potato fries which looked good I wish I got them instead.

I wasn’t able to get steak as they were out of it, but the chicken I got was good and made up for it.

I’ve been white spot diners for years having grown up on pirate packs and mushroom burgers. White Spot truly is special in that we now regularly visit this location with our daughter…bringing the pirate pack magic to her. The one thing I will say about white spots are that their service levels are completely hit or miss. And I mean — by a LONG SHOT.thankfully the Kensington location is by far THE BEST white spot location I’ve ever visited in the lower mainland. Their servers are all extremely kind and well trained. What a pleasant and consistent experience each time we visit! I challenge all other White Spots to meet this same service level!

We had a great time here.
The service was quite quick; hosts were friendly and efficient, and they even had a sense humour.
The alcohol was good, but the deal they have on right now for their Perogies is WONDERFUL.
I kid you not those perogies melted in our mouths and were so so succulent to taste.

We'd have to visit more to give a real and true review, but from what we tried it was nice for an evening out.

Very disappointing with their portion size now. Burgers were small. It says 6 oz, but looked like 4 oz. The portion size of French Fries and Cole slaw are also very small. They do not justify the expensive menu price. I will not go there again!

Our waiter Aaron is a young and motivational kind of guy. He seems to end up being our waiter each time. The service was good and no complaints about the quality or quantity of food. White Spot does not disappoint me. I even love how there are real strawberry chunks in the strawberry ice cream! I have been a loyal customer of the restaurant chain, since my pirate pack days and life. I wish certain items on the menu were more affordable.

This is the first time to give full stars to a White Spot restaurant. It might have been that we were there early, at 9 a.m, but service was great, food came promptly and all tasted yummy. Good job, Kensington!

Great tasting food at this location. The place is well-run and the staff work hard to make your visit enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!

Food is good but sadly, vegan options are sorely lacking, at least an oat or almond milk for my coffee.everyone offers that now, literally everyone.

Atrocious service. Lots of White Spots around, go to others if service is important to you. This location clearly is a training ground and struggles to hire anything but young staff who are inexperienced and haven't a clue as to customer service. Two takeout orders messed up in the past few months. Invited back by manager to give another try and proceeded to wait 30 minutes for our meal. Staff are clueless. Kitchen is clearly over their heads. Management doesn't care. Very poorly run location.

Delicious food as you expect from other branches. This place was clean, quiet with friendly staff.
Burgers are famous and very delicious. They are in decent size and come with a side. Fries is bottomless.
I liked it more if our server was checking on us more frequently.
It also had a nice bar, I saw some people quite enjoy it.
Convenient free parking available in plaza and this branch has curbside designated parking

The service was fantastic. The food was great. The pumpkin pie is the best. Thank you to everyone working that afternoon.

We placed an order for pick up and the person taking the order was extremely kind and sounded very professional. Then comes the bad part. It was supposed to be my celebratory dinner before I go TO HIGHSCHOOL and this place COMPLETELY ruined it. Awful. One of the orders had no cheese on it and the person over the phone even repeated the orders over 3 times. I'm vegetarian and I specifically ordered NO CHEESE. I also can NOT eat meat. And the paper over my burger said legendary veggie burger but it was so obviously meat. What if I had been deathly allergic to meat and I hadn't known it was meat and I got an allergic reaction and ended up in the emergency room? It's disgusting. Terrible place. Me and my family will never be ordering from this disgrace again. This is not the first time. It's a surprise when they get the entire order right! They didn't even send me another burger. They're giving me ONE ticket for a free burger. One. And it's coming in the frickin mail. Not even here yet. So rude. Please think twice before you order from this location. Though it is a complelty different restaurant, I strongly suggest Hiro Sushi. Any of they're locations across Vancouver are delicious and SO MUCH BETTER than this nonsense.

It was 7-8 minutes to 3 pm I was hungry for breakfast! Everything they served was cold! This was the 2nd time in a row we've gotten bad service:/ the waitress was gracious and asked if I wanted to send it back.but my husband was sitting here with his food in front of him. I tend to get snarley watching someone else eat while I'm starving! The management took off the breakfast I still gave her a 20 dollar tip

Not busy but order of one hamburger meal and one drink seemed to take longer than normal for the type of meal ordered. Food was very tasty though. Friendly wait person.

so I splurged on a $20 burger.
Tastes was bland.

The food here is ok, I mainly come here for nostalgic reasons because all of my family have been coming here since the White Spots opened in the 1950s. I grew up in the 70s/80s and my brothers and sisters and I loved there pirate packs with the triple 'O' burgers. It's a little unfortunate what they charge for lunches now.
My wife and I go there for lunch and its usually $35- $40 for the two of us, and no drinks. It would be nice if they had a daily lunch/dinner special instead of charging 5 star prices at a 2 star establishment. I heard other patrons complaining about there prices as well.
I hope they stick around long for my kids to enjoy the White Spot Legacy. I think Nat would be dissapointed.

Oddly I was thinking the service was going to be long, once the server got to us she was super friendly and fast. Was a pleasant surprise!

Fantastic staff.greeted me as soon as I got in the door. Server Steph was very patient and friendly in serving me and the other guests in the restaurant. I will highly recommend coming back.

I love White Spot, especially this location. It's very close to where I live so it's convenient for me. Each time I eat here I have a great experience; the service is always quick and the staff are VERY kind. Today I had Anton seat me and he is just so polite and handsome, and I had Quinn serve me. He was funny and conversed with me and gave me really good service. My food was "spot" on (hahahhaha) I couldn't ask for better!

Good service and food. On weekday mornings there are so few people that sometimes the hostess isn't even there. Not a major complaint, but just to keep in mind.

This was better than my last visit. My mushroom burger had a generous amount of mushrooms compared to previous and the service was super. Great milkshake as expected

Always fast and friendly service. Great for groups of people. They also do take out which is really great when you don't feel like cooking at home.

Had a milkshake craving and just went it. The waiter was friendly, my milkshake and burger were great as well. If you're in the neighborhood, it's a nice dinner spot.

Square location anytime. I have been coming to this location since it opened 2yrs back, & just love it. You can always find ample parking, nice & clean Restaurant, plenty of other near by shopping facilities like the Liquor store, Recycling facility, Gas Station, Fresh Bread Store, Safeway, Bank, Coffee Shop, Medical Office, Life Lab, Income Tax Office, Chinese fresh produce shop, another popular restaurant for the Fish & Chips lovers & lastly for our Dairy Queen Lovers. You can't ever go wrong going to this location Kensington Square White Spots. Give it a try!

Lovely place. The menu has a lot and there are choices for vegans, vegetarians and people with gluten issues. I had the veggie burger and my partner had a flat bread with shrimps on it. The food was really delicious. Will go back and try their brunch options. The service is prompt and very friendly too. Have fun while you are there. They are kid friendly too! That is such a bonus.

Just waited 45 min to get cold food! White spot in burnaby on hastings. Would not recommend going to this location. Al other locations are good.

After sitting for more than 10 minutes at the bar and nobody came to me to ask what I would like to eat or drink, I left the place. I didn't come here to watch television.

Your standard dinner with pasta, steak, and other types of American food. I really liked the seafood fettuccini. Good service and nothing to complain about. A good standard dinner, nothing fancy or special but effective.

Really good food and a great family friendly place. Reasonably priced and the food arrived quickly. Always love this place!

The food is good. I'm fond of their breakfast menu having a simplified version available after 11 am. Lunch and dinner options are good too.

Nothing I've tried has disappointed me yet. They have a surprising amount of gluten free suggestions throughout the menu.

Boring atmosphere in this restaurant. Cold feeling when the front door opens and closes, there's no separation from the lobby and seating area.
Staff tend to seat families in the booths, and younger folks in the bar area. Perhaps asking customers where they would like to be seated would be a good idea.

The parking lot has been re-configured to fit more cars, but the spaces have been made much smaller.
(Note to planners: Angled parking is always easier to get in and out of, and you can visually see better).

We go in once or twice a month. Service and food are always pretty good. Tonight May 5,2019, our server Sandra was fantastic. Probably the best customer service I've received anywhere.

Mediocre. Had dinner for 2 people.came out to around $60 for just burgers and drinks.just soft drinks!

Food quality is good, plenty of tables and get the seats quite fast. Servers are friendly and attentive. Our server even knee down to talk to us. Plenty of parking space in the mall. Whenever we want a relax night for dining, white spot is our first choice.

Tried this whitespot location for the first time today, and will definitely order from here again - bigger portions and great service than the whitespot we usually go to!

Great service, yummy food - however a little expensive. $45 for 2 burgers & fries with 1 pop seems a little much.

Have ordered twice from this restraunt for delivery and both times missing items from our order. Called and there was no resolution. Will never order or eat there again.

We came here for dinner as a party of 9 (5 adults and 4 kids, including my 11 month old twins). Normally when we do go out to eat (which is almost never with our twins) we’re often greeted with sighs and eye rolling. Understandable, considering how noisy and messy babies can be. We were seated within 20mins which was pretty good for a busy Friday evening at around 6pm. We were greeted promptly by our waitress Sandra who was warm and attentive throughout our dinner. She made sure everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed. We were waiting for one person to show up, but we went ahead and put in our order in case the kitchen got backed up. I also decided to order one pirate pack for the twins to share. While we were waiting Sandra brought out two plates of fries before our mains arrived. She also brought out drink refills without us needing to ask. When it came time for ordering ice cream for the kids’ pirate packs, Sandra asked if I would like her to bring out an extra scoop so that all of the kids could have dessert. I thought this was really kind and thoughtful of her. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience thanks to Sandra.
