The flavor of the food was amazing.

But everything else was meh. They put our reservation for 5 at a tiny booth where one person had to sit in the aisle and have other customers push past them every 2 minutes while they tried to eat.

Every time another group moved in or out of the booth behind us, the back of our booth seat folded forward, making us feel like we were being trapped in a folding lawn chair.

The serving sizes were pretty pathetic for the price. Men in our group complained about getting only ~5 potatoe wedges for their side and were still hungry after they finished.

They offered a donut as their desert special and it was average at best.

When we were leaving a server rushed past us and stopped at a table right infront of us, blocking our path to exit. They could have taken their tables order from the other side.but no, they just ignored the fact that they were blocking the main walkway and made us stand and wait.

Overall, the low quality & cramped atmosphere made it feel like I was eating in a fast food restaurant or on a cheap airplane.

I've been going to the Wooden Spoon for many years now and it has been my reprieve for special occasions. This is one of the few places where there is no wrong option on the menu, everything is just delightful. Want to try the Spoon Burger? Excellent choice! The Forager Benny? Wonderful! The French toast? Not too sweet and perfect for those looking for a dessert brunch. The vegetarian/vegan options are plentiful and just as good tasting as the latter.

I've seen this place go through changes, menu items come and go. I've tried the chicken and waffles once before they were nuked from the menu. This place constantly attempts to keep their offerings fresh and exciting while honouring the legacy dishes, such as the sweet and salty.

Everything stands strong and the decor is just wholesome. Milk cartons on the wall and plants everywhere. I remember the restaurant used to offer free diapers in the washrooms for parents dining with infants.

This is a proper good place to take your date. One of my top picks for the go-to munch spots.

Love coming here for dinner, the food and drinks are always great! Our server on 09/15 was so wonderful and our group of 6 was so impressed with the level of service she provided. I feel like the people who work here are what makes it so great! Highly recommend.

This was our first time dining at the Wooden spoon. The food was delicious. My daughter had Mac and Cheese that was so creamy and was served warm. She enjoyed it so much she was not ready to share a bite with us. I ordered the harvest burger and by far the best vegetarian burger I have ever had. I got onion rings on the side. The onion rings were made perfectly. They were not soaked in oil, had the perfect crispness to them and the seasoning on top was finger licking yummy. My partner had a big rock burger. It was very well put together. The house sauce they have complimented the burgers so well.

Went here with my husband for Taco night and it was absolutely delicious! I LOVED the nachos (best nachos I have had) and tacos. We had a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert, and it is sooooo good. I am looking forward to going back next Thursday night! Service was perfection! Not sure of his name but the tall guy with glasses - excellent service!

I ordered a latte and the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries, and my husband ordered the BBQ poutine. The latte had a burnt taste but the food was quite tasty. The service was extremely slow. I'd definitely go back to try other menu items though.

My grandfather and I came from Bellingham and had lunch at The Wooden Spoon and it was absolutely divine!

First, I called to make a reservation with Armand and he was an absolute gentleman. When we arrived he was so pleasant and was such a wonderful host, I wished he was our server.

Once seated:

I ordered The OG Spoon Burger and it was the best burger I have ever had; I also ordered onion rings as a side and had low expectations (due to the onion rings in my hometown) and boy was I in for a surprise.

The rings were perfectly seasoned AND crispy; a feat not many could perform.

And the smells throughout; every plate that sat at a table I wished was mine.

100% would recommend coming here 10/10.

The service itself was a little slow HOWEVER the place was busy so it was to be expected!

What a killer spot! Food was delicious, prices and vibe awesome and Emily our server was great! Perfect spot to enjoy a meal in white rock.

Wooden spoon is located in downtown, White Rock. Its around 45 minutes far from Vancouver and one of the best options for breakfast and brunch.

Waiting time on weekends is around 45 minutes. I suggest you to book even on weekdays.

Food recommendations:
* Definitely order one of the items from “Cast Iron Crushables”. (Served in skillet)
** Order one from the Brunch menu. If you like sausage, go for farmhouse breakfast.

One of my favorite brunch spots. They’ve got a bar and a whole lot of brunch options. The French press coffee is great, if you’re like me and wanna mix it up with a shot of B52. Their menu changes time to time so try and get ahead of what you’re gonna order by seeing their latest menu online. Nans After Dark is delish and their hash is awesome too.

Still pretty good, but there's been noticeable shrinkage.

Got the bay Benny and it had like two shrimp on it.for $17. I get that food prices have gone up, but this is ridiculous. Just look at previous photos in the reviews and then look at your plate. Probably 1/2 the potatoes as before. I've never seen my mom or wife finish a brunch meal, but they both polished their plates this time. I'd rather they just raised their prices and kept the portions the same. The food still tasted great.

Beyond that the staff doesn't seem to care the front door is stuck open half the time, so if it's cold stay away from the front half of the restaurant.

Honestly not great. Everyone raves about it, so I keep giving it another chance. But every time the food is burnt, or bland, and over priced. Every time I go its a disappointment.

I'll probably go back again, and I hope you change my opinion.:)

Fantastic brunch option. Great for couples and families and they definitely care about food and service quality.

My family had breakfast this past weekend and were completely surprised about the extra fees on top of our bill! What is this NON-ALCOHOL TAX? I was charged $8 for NOT drinking alcohol with my breakfast, as well as the GST tax (which was expected). So you're going to charge me for choosing not to drink alcohol first thing in the morning? Also, there was no other option for tip amount-only 15% and above. Why can't I choose my own tip amount on the bill? There was only 3 of us in my party.
We will NEVER come here again. So disappointed.

My best friend and I made a reservation and were seated within two minutes. Our server (Krista) was incredibly friendly and personable, took our orders immediately. We loved the food! I highly recommend the Bay benny. Such an amazing experience, would highly recommend.

It was our first time there. Food was ok, service was not great as not very organized at the door. Not crazy about it. Not too many choices for me to eat as well.

Second my Bill was 30$ something and the waitress asked me if I would like to pay the full 50$ to it? Was she asking for a 20$ tip I don’t understand?

I like this location. The team here is outgoing and very helpful. They will go out of there way to help you and find an item. It feels like a good team led store. It is clean and organized. The lighting is great in this location. Like any retail store you can order an item online and have it sent to your favourite or convenient location.

Loved this place. Food was excellent and fresh and service was awsome. My only suggestion to the restaurant is to add more specialty coffee on the menue.

Highly disappointed in the poor service and disorganization due to the over reliance on technology. Attended for weekend brunch, was told the wait would be 40 minutes. Ended up waiting for 1 hours and 15 minutes due to the system crashing. We also just opted for take out since they didn’t know when we would be seated. There was a long line and 1/2 the people were not informed of the system crash. I tried the bay benny which was delicious. The salty and sweet brunch was also just as delicious!

Came here for brunch, sat outside on the patio. They have tall heaters and umbrellas spread out even in the patio area so you’ll feel strangely warm and dry even when it’s drizzling and breezy outside - that’s definitely a plus, especially if you’re still wary of indoor dining in close proximity to other people. Food was solid, servers were polite and helpful.

Visiting from out of town heard this place was a must try and it did not disappoint! Ordered the sweet and salty from a recommendation from my amazing server Krista who was the most friendly and helpful. Would 100% go back next time!

Great food and amazing service once you're seated but understaffed due to covid i think. Went to the restaurant 30mins after opening and had to wait 1.5 hours.not sure if too many tables are set aside for reservations? Or so many people left their names between opening and when we got there, but definitely would not recommend going there without reservation.

Over priced for what a person gets. Compare the cost and quality to Laure’s Coffee Shop. The service was poor. Once the food came we had to ask for everything including salt and pepper.
We will not return because there is better available.

Smoked meat sandwich was marginal and lettuce was bitter.
My soup was tasty but cold.
My wife asked for gluten-free bread and it was not gluten free.
She became ill.

Loved the food and the ambience. Food arrived quickly and the staff was attentive. Our waitress, Krista, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was efficient, warm and friendly. One member of our party has dietary restrictions and she was able to advise them about what was appropriate for them to eat. Will definitely be back!

Had some relatives from out of town a few days ago who wanted a "White Rock experience" so I brought them to White Rock. I had a few suggestions on where to go but I had never been here before so we decided to try something new. Had an excellent experience thanks to Sim who gave some good suggestions on other activities in the area as well as on-point food and drink recommendations.

Food tasted like god made it honestly this was amazing. Also our server Conner was very helpful and drippin like a faucet ya feel?

One of the best breakfast/brunch joints ever! Such a great atmosphere, space, and the servers are all so amazing. I rarely write reviews but after having Krista as our server, she truly made our experience and is the best ever! She is so sweet, thoughtful, funny and very knowledgeable. She works so hard! Connor was the absolute best waiter I have ever encountered! He was so friendly as were all the staff there. The food is first class and absolutely delicious. Make sure you get the French press coffee as it is something you will definitely enjoy.

I have heard that this is a good spot for brunch. Unfortunately on the day we went, their system crashed. We had been waiting for 40 minutes. They were unable to serve us after this. It is pretty sad that a place is so reliant on technology that they were unable to cook food and take payment by cash. Truely disappointed that they couldn't did not tell us in person and let us wait around to be not served

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we got there we were greeted with smiles and efficient and lovely staff. Our server, Krista was so so so good! After getting in an enormous fight with my wretch of a wife Rhonda at the near by shopping mall I decided to leave her there. I came over to the Wooden Spoon and stuffed my face with much food as I could. This food is amazing and made me feel loved and at piece.
I won’t be bringing Rhonda here EVER. This is MY new place and she can’t ever know about.

We went to the Wooden Spoon last week in Whiterock for a late lunch/brunch and were absolutely impressed with the quality of the food and service. Really unique and tasty meals served promptly and with a smile. Krista our server was awesome. Attentive, friendly and knowledgable. My burger was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, home style thick bacon and great fries, mouth watering!
But the best was yet to come. The manager suggested the waffles as a desert and it was amazing! Best I ever had. My wife and I highly recommend checking this place out!

Always the go-to for brunch, the menu items are amazing and above all our server Chez really made the experience memorable! Hope she stays forever!

Not just a breakfast place, these guys have a killer lunch menu too. I had the Montreal Smoked meat sandwich on the recommendation from my server Krista. No regrets, the meal hit all the right notes.

I've heard so many great things about this place and finally was able to go for breakfast while visiting from out of town. Our server was Krista and she was so friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. She had great recommendations for us when we couldn't choose on what to order off the menu. I ordered the Sppon Huevos and it did not disappoint. Looking forward to going back there when we are back in the west coast.

Had the most amazing experience, food was perfect! Best eggs I’ve ever had, stellar potatoes and washed it down with a solid solid Caesar. The only issue was with the bartender Connor, he was so great it made the food seem garbage in comparison.

The Montreal smoked meat sandwich was good. Krista was our server who did a great job and suggested us to the raspberry radler that was delicious.

Just moved nearby and this very quickly became our weekend brunch. Our server Nick is phenomenal and always create a comfortable atmosphere. PLEASE KEEP THE SO-CAL BENNY. It’s the missing piece of your Benny options.

I've been to the Wooden Spoon quite a few times now and each time it's been great. (Be prepared to wait during peak brunching hours, but it's worth the wait!) The staff are fun and engaging, and the food is awesome. My friend is gluten-intolerant and they provided gluten-free bread, which is also awesome. My only teeny-tiny gripe is that the coffee is a bit on the pricy side (it's served in a French press) but that being said, it is quite fresh and good quality!

Not many brunch places like this around. Not a huge menu but a lot of different takes on classic breakfasts like egg Benedict! Great drinks and also good sides.

Went for our First time. Luckily we got a spot right away as there was an hour wait. We sat at the bar and was served by Tanner. Food was fantastic! Service was great! Nice cozy place. Would definitely go again!

Food was very good, high quality, made with quality ingredients, and the flavour combinations are brilliant. Service was great as well. The guy with the mustache was not our server, but kept checking in on is anyway to make sure we were having a great dining experience.
Also, for young children, in addition to providing a high chair they provide a plastic cutlery set (reusable), which I have never witnessed before at a restaurant, it was an excellent touch.

Super friendly host who welcomed us in as soon as we walked in the door. Had about an hour wait, so my guy and I went for a short ride around the neighbourhood and filled up the motorcycle as well. Upon on our return, we were seated at a good sized table (seating for 4 - enough room for us to rest our helmets and jackets), which was great! Our server was awesome and friendly. The food was generously portioned, healthy and delicious! We will be back.thank you to everyone at the Wooden Spoon Co, for a wonderful dining experience! We will be back!

Always excellent and creative food. I'm saddened that they are no longer open in the evenings though. I can't get there on weekdays.: (

I absolutely love coming here for breakfast. There has been a wait time every time I've been there. For 2 people. 30 minutes atleast. But once your food arrives.the wait seems worth it. Definitely a go to place for a fancy breakfast option. Cannot compare to basics like IHOP or Denny's or Cora's Breakfast. Wish they'd have a few locations in other parts of metro vancouver.

Another place that deserves 10 out of 5 stars! If you are in the area for brunch this place is a must! Amazing food, stellar staff and great atmosphere! Nothing but love for Wooden Spoon ️️️

One of the best brunches I have ever had! My Eggs Benny were perfectly done and talk about having them over a homemade biscuit instead of English muffin. As for my boyfriend's Fried chicken and waffles. OMG! But note: this is a weekend item only so make sure to drop by on the weekend.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food and when you order coffee you get your own French press brought to your table. Do I need say more? ! Enjoy!

My friends were visiting from Calgary and Seattle so upon recommendation, we decided to check out this popular brunch restaurant and we sure weren’t disappointed! Enjoyed our brunch!
I had made reservations about 12 hours before and someone contacted me via email and put me on wait list! When we got there, we didn’t have to wait at all and were looked after very well!
I tried the Veggie Fritata as recommended by the server (sorry I forgot her name) and I absolutely loved it! Very fulfilling brunch! I would go again!

The food here is absolutely wonderful! The organization not so much. Friendly enough staff but being extraordinarily inaccurate on wait times is a bit frustrating. 30 mins on a Sunday brunch - absolutely, no problem at all! 30 minutes turning into 80 minutes is not ok in my books, and to sit others who came well after us is not fair. I get it, trying to maximize the seats at your tables, but when we’ve been waiting over double our time the appropriate thing to do would be to seat us at the next table available regardless of it being a 4 seater. Super sad as I was so excited for delicious eats! Hopefully it’s something you can improve on.

Update one year later: We've been back a few time since my first review and I think this place has gotten better. Food has improved (really excellent now) and value seems better based on how they've structured the menu. Went from 4 to 5 stars in my books.

First review: Went for lunch on a weekday - food was quite good, service was really friendly. Probably a little more expensive than we were expecting. Complementary diapers in the washroom for babies if you're into that sort of thing - nice touch. I'd go back.

This was an excellent spot for breakfast or brunch or lunch! Very cool menu items, drinks and extremely friendly staff. Accommodating for kids but cool enough for people of all ages. Great French press coffee but no espresso drinks.

Tuesday night is a special night, and this amazing restaurant made our special night more special for me and my wife's 35 years anniversary. Good food, good service. We felt lucky to move to this location.

Over the years this place has grown in popularity so go early to avoid the long wait times. Great food and would recommend the French press coffee.

The owner sat me down outside gave me a water and a menu. 10 to 15ms went by nobody acknowledged me and in my opinion 10 to 15ms without a drink order or food order in unexpectable, so I got up told them and left. Food is great there but I didn't stick around to wait for that long just to order. Maybe the staff think 1 person isn't worth there time so they ingnore them and take care of larger tables?

Breakfast or brunch is a very unique experience here. Great staff, atmosphere and food! Highly recommend it.

We attended a wedding in Grand Forks so we didn't go out much to eat but when we did, I am so glad we found the Wood Spoon Bistro! No offence to anyone that lives in Grand Forks but I didn't think I would find a restaurant like this in Grand Forks. The place was very hip and decorated as such. Was there on a Friday around lunch time and the place was packed so ordering and getting our order took about 30-40 minutes but it was worth the wait! I had one of the best Bahn Mi sandwiches I've ever had in my life (it came very close to tasting like the Bahn Mi from downtown Calgary Vietnamese place I know). My husband had "the big cat" sandwich and he also loved it and I only had a bite of his and it was also delicious!

Food is superb. Fresh, portions are good not big or small. Staff is friendly. Only downside is limited parking

Took wife for breakfast today for our wedding anniversary.thought it would be cool as we are busy with kids at night. Drinks in the morning with beautiful wife.ok.honestly the place was unbelievable, cool atmosphere, great staff and food was top notch. And how could I not have a drink named Rad Dad, or two, light and refreshing as it should be at 10 am. Prices look high, but for what you get on the plate for a serving, and the freshness, it's well worth it.

Just had a great salad. Nice place, but can be very busy. Menu has an excellent variety of unique items.
