XIN KOREAN RESTAURANT

Terrible service. A place i will never go again as long as that waitress is there. Worst service. Still, the food tasted good, so I always come here every time I go to Victoria a few times a year, but a few days ago, when I asked for a side dish refill, I was told that there were no side dishes, and just when I thought that might be the case, I was very offended when I saw that the side dishes were brought right to the table in front of me. Even if it wasn't the case, I was thinking of leaving because the food I was trying to order wasn't available, but it happened while I was ordering and eating something else, so it was so absurd. Every time I went, I thought it was unfriendly, but when I visited a few days ago, I heard two waitresses talking so negatively to the customers that I knew I would never visit this place again. I don't know if the waitress is a family member of the restaurant or if she just works part-time, but I wonder why she makes an angry face even when taking orders. I've also heard from other acquaintances that she's unfriendly several times. I'm posting this to make sure the boss knows these things.

Second visit to the restaurant. Found a strand of hair was in my soup. No apology from kitchen for the unpleasant experience. A server tried to give me a pop to make it up. However, with no apology, it looks like they are not concerned about how the customer felt. I am all for small mom and pop shops but if you do not treat your customers with your heart, no feast will bring a smile on customers faces.

I has been eagerly awaiting an opportunity to try XIN. However, I was rather disappointed with the entire experience and likely won't go back. When I first was seated, the restaurant was busy but not overflowing. I hadn't expected to wait 37 minutes for my one dish to arrive. My seafood dish had only 4 tiny pieces of squid and 2 tiny shrimp. No apology for the very long wait and staff seemed oblivious to the notion of customer service and some members of the team could benefit from some language support. What made it worse was that I'd been freezing and when offered a drink, the server said they had no tea. I asked for hot water. No hot water, I was told! How can that be in a restaurant making hot soups and both, and that usually serves tea? !? Overall, wasn't enjoyable, comfortable or delicious.

I absolutely love eating here at XIN. This place is my favourite, if not top 3 Korean restaurants on the island! The food menu is huge, so you can order almost any Korean dish from kimchi to noodles, and more - it also is very accommodating for if you plan to eat here solo, or as a couple, and has meal deals for an entire family or group of friends too! The pricing is absurdly cheap, compared to other locations in Victoria, but don't let that fool you with the quality and taste. My personal favourite is the Jjajangmyun with seafood (though idk why there's two listed on the menu, one being an extra $1 more than the other). I'll always come here for that, while my friends and partner will often try other dishes here, lol. The staff are friendly, and the restaurant layout is simple, but presents a bright and welcoming atmosphere.

I give this place two thumbs-up, and recommend XIN for anyone who likes or is wanting to try Korean food on the island. You won't regret it!

Absolutely terrible place to visit again. Terrible service and staff. Dirty tables and chairs. Only one tissue provided. I didn't see the kitchen area, but I bet it would be the same for sure.

Still buzzing about this place. Deceptively humble. Spicy comfort food. Had the spicy pork. Will definitely return to try more dishes!

The food is really good.
But the server is really rude. Not only does he never take care of the table, but he halves the taste of delicious food with his chubby expression.
It is a feeling that guests should notice.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in Victoria. The food is absolutely delicious. It's not cheap, but everything is expensive right now. Yum!

Ordered Kkanpoongi and was totally dissapointed. No meat inside mostly fried flour clothing and they were really really tough to chew almost tough enough to scratch mouth inside.
They were good before, but why is it worse? With higher price?

Amazingly authentic Korean Food. Loved the Gam Ja Tang aka Pork Bone Stew. Deliciously tender and soft meat just waiting to be easily plucked from the bone with your chopsticks before being dunked in an incredible horseradish meat sauce they provide.

Also highly recommend the Spicy Rice Cakes or Tteokbokki.

Don't let the plain exterior of the restaurant fool you. Inside, really delicious Korean food awaits you.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Very flavourful. My first time trying Korean food. I've been wanting to as I watch kdramas. Lol. Hot Pot Bibimap was delicious. Mom had the BBQ bulgogi, really enjoyed the flavouring on the meat and the side ingredients were tasty.

The best Kimchi Jjigae I’ve had in Canada. It was bubbling hot when brought to the table and everything was on point. Pork was cooked perfectly, the flavour and aroma was so good I burnt my mouth and it was worth it. Will be coming back!

Ordered the Bibimbap.hoping for good Korean food as the reviews suggest it will be good food. Unfortunately, the food was not good at all. 3 tiny slices of carrot, 3 tiny slices of zucchini, NO mushrooms (must have run out) a pinch of uncooked sprouts and a raw egg (gross!) cracked on top. Meat.nope.no meat at all. Must have run out because I was really hoping for some marinated beef but there was none in this dish. The bowl was supposed to be VERY hot.unfortunately, it was not.so the raw egg stayed raw on top my food - leaving me with a stomach ache after eating some of it. As for taste.it tasted like burnt cooking oil and seemed to be overly smothered in cooking oil for some reason. This was by far the worse Korean food I have ever eaten and had the smallest portions. Cost. $16 for this? Almost a scam!
As for customer service.it took them 35 minutes before taking our order and another 30 minutes for the food to come out.

I visited this place first today. I am glad to find a right place in Vancouver island. Good price, delicious food, very kind staff!

The best Korean restaurant on the island. Excellent service, authentic Korean dishes, and high quality ingredients. Makes me miss Vancouver a little less. Favourite dishes: jjajangmyun, japchae and ojingeodupbab.

I visited there around 5pm before rush hour. I had a Combo A (Tangsuyuk+Jjajangmyun+Jjambbong). It was wonderful since I've been there. It is one of the great place to comfort when I'm homesick. Thank you for your service. Nice food. I hope please keep it for everyone.

Third time here. Can’t tell if it is getting better or if we are starting to better understand the menu options! Will be back again.

My go-to place for jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk and jjambbong. Whenever I crave Korean style Chinese food I def go here all the time. I love that they give you enough sauce for tangsuyuk, cuz some places don't. As a bumukpa (부먹파) that's very important ;-) All though noodle could've been better, sometimes they're lil too sticky. I still love it tho. Thank you for serving joongkookjip food here. I can't imagine living in Vic without Xin!

An authentic Korean restaurants with an extensive menu. Try the braised beef ribs soup with glass noodles, very tasty and hearty, almost a meal on its own. Or the sweet and sour pork rib combo, with a rich bowl of s&s sauce that's quite different from the usual plain Chinese s&s sauce.

Really good authentic Korean food with friendly people working there! 10/10 music playlist too.

This restaurant is a gem. The food is great, good portions and they are fast. Everything my family has ordered has been good.

Food quality, taste, price, quantity, service were all very satisfactory. Tried the combo menu today but will definitely try some other dishes next time.
