While planning for my road trip to Kamloops, I wanted to to stop by a few places on the way, this is one of the recommended place while on road trip to Kamloops. I was travelling over the weekend and I reached there around noon time. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and they guide and answer your questions. I couldn’t explore the house as it was under renovation and as a result I got a cheap pas of $5 ad opposed to $12 regular pass. I went inside to look around, it’s fairly a small site with a house, some tents and an old church. There’s a place for gold panning as well if you like to do that.

DO NOT COME TOURISM CHALLENGERS, if you don’t want to waste your time and gas for absolutely nothing!

Came on a Friday afternoon (May 26th) for the Tourism Challenge, no operating time or sign at all, nothing says closed anywhere but EVERYTHING WAS LOCKED UP! Nothing was set up either. 2 hours drive for nothing.

Don’t participate if you’re not gonna be open for your fellow tourism and hospitality workers.

Ok so they’re doing a petition for management rights and the only way to find out this info is having to go to their Instagram. Would be much more helpful to have posted a sign to let people know.

Good gold rush history and stories about the Fraser Canyon War. History comes alive here, lots to look at. Worth the stop and admission. Relaxed and intimate feel to the place.

We visit here as part of our journey of
"Gold rush trail history", there is a fee to get inside the museum and to see the historic of the people who build the train and people who stay there.
The guy was very knowledgable about the summary of the house and all the stuff in museum.
It was so cool to see all the stuff from the history.
Recommended to visit.

Really enjoyed the museum. It depicts the history of the Gold Rush in the area really well. Definitely worth the drive from Vancouver.

Come enjoy the history of the gold rush in the Fraser Canyon. After 2 years of restrictions, we are opening again! Try your hand at gold panning, visit the tents full of items from the past, and the museum full of historic items from the Victorian era. Fun for the whole family!

Yale celebrates it’s history in the 1800’s as a gold rush boom town, and later as a hub for railway construction along the Fraser River. The buildings and the Church are restored and in great condition. The sites were closed (due to Covid, ai think). Yale is very quiet on.a rainy Tuesday in November.

My wife and I stopped by here on the way to Surrey for lunch. There was a picnic table that we used was close to the front entrance that was nice. Unfortunately the historical site was closed due to COVID because I’m sure being able to get inside would have been great What we could see looks good. We will have to come back another time when it’s open.

Great history of our province. I believe the should teach Provincial History in our school's o don't think this generation knows anything about the discoveries of gold and the little towns that grew because of it. They teach of other countries and other province's but not not our own province. Sad I think.

We had a terrific time here on Canada Day. Volunteers and community leaders did a awesome job putting on a great birthday party.

Great way to find out about your heritage and how Canada lives in the 1888 the pioneer cemetery is an amazing site the gravestones date back to the 1700 and the gravestones some are in wood it's a terrible part of our history as a lot of the community passed on at the ages between 3 and 29 years old.
This is where the poor girl who was the first victim of Richard Olsen she lies here.
The oldest Church in BC resides here in Yale $20 to get in a must see. The church is exquisite detail for its day. The grounds contain heavy tarp tents where you can browse and see how the gold miners lived and worked. From saloons to hospitals to barbers and clothing and trade fur. These were tough times and you could be easily killed for a few shillings of gold flakes.
The inside contains train memorabilia and items used in the 1888's Fun and informative.
Worth the effort to go in and look around. History can be fun!
Plenty of free parking and easy access from the highway. Enjoy a bit of history as you go on your journey down the highway!

It has sooo much to see. From the old house to the old church next door. I can't wait to get back
13 August 2019 8:50
Really liked how inter active it is, especially the tent where you can put on period clothes.
07 August 2019 23:05
Don't let this place be just a place you drive past. Stop in and learn about some important BC history.
06 August 2019 1:33
This place is a true time warp. Its amazing being able to step back in time to the height of BCs gold rush age. Truly a living museum
05 August 2019 18:42
Didn't have chance to look around much, great church. (My sis got married there.) Restored structures very well done.
11 July 2019 20:38
Unlike most museums, this one you can walk right into the display rooms in the tents, and lift up the items if you want. Nothing roped off, interesting info cards, and no one hovering over your shoulder.
But the best part, worth the admission, is that you can RING THE CHURCH BELL. I've always wanted to do that.

Such a cool step back in time. The manager, Margaret is so friendly and knowledgeable. Had a grear time.
09 June 2019 13:17
A small site to visit, community is beautiful. There is Fraser river flowing behind this site, which makes this place worth to visit. Since it's close to Hope, there are plenty of scenaries to enjoy.
25 May 2019 14:18
It's a small area. I do like the displays but it's not unlike many of the history museums such as Fort Langley, Burnaby village museum etc. I like the space, it offers lots of places for kids to run, discover safely and I would come back as part of my trip out east, but I wouldn't make it the focal point of my day.
