Yiamas Greek Taverna

Very friendly staff and the food was yummy but the night we went they must have spilled salt into the food as it was almost unpalatable because it was so salty.

We went for a midweek family dinner and it was only “okay”. The roasted lamb was lacking flavour compared to a previous visit. Rice was served almost cold. Veggies lukewarm and salad tasted “tired”. Potatoes not fresh. It was only us and one other table occupied. We didn’t get the typical bread with tzatziki that they used to bring to the table for free in previous years. Although the renovations were nice and we were so happy to find gluten free options, it was really cold in the restaurant and we had to keep our jackets on. Music didn’t play until we left, lights were too bright and it was lacking atmosphere. Portions were good, service was good, too. Casual dinner experience with nothing special.

We wanted to come to your restaurant for a late lunch at 2: 23 pm to be told you are closed. You need to correct your hours of operation on the internet. Internet says you are open from 11 to 9 pm. We are very disappointed.

The best spot in town for delicious authentic Greek food, the staff are extremely dedicated to making sure that all of their customers are satisfied.

Olivia and I went to Yiamas Greek Taverna for our weekly date night, and while I've had takeout and delivery from here before, I have never actually sat in at Yiamas, and I cannot say enough good things. From the moment we walked in the door, the entire experience was wonderful. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, fair priced, and the portion sizes were impressive, and the atmosphere was magical. Everything at Yiamas is done with passion and you can truly feel it.

I will definitely be coming here more often, and I cannot recommend it enough. We got the assorted Methezes to start, and the lamb and spot prawn special and that was more than enough food for the two of us, and if you know me, you know that's quite the statement.

First time at Yiamas and it was a great experience. We didn't know there's this hidden gem of a Greek restaurant right downtown ordered calamari, roast lamb and lamb souvlaki, all of which were good esp the calamari omg I could've ordered another dish if I still had the space in my tummy. Will def go back again and try their other offerings

Early supper with family. Ordered the platter for a table of five and added the spinach dip. More than enough and it was great. So glad we found you. It will become the place to go for good greek food when we are in town. What a treat!

Had their chicken souvlaki. The chicken thigh meat was grilled and tasty. The entree came with tzatziki sauce, grilled veggies, rice, potatoes, and a small helping of greek salad. After ordering our meal arrived within 15 minutes. The service was great!

I love this restaurant. They serve very good authentic Greek food and the staff are very professional and friendly.

Best meal out in a while. We got the platter. Serve 2 adults and 2 kids. Was so good. Every last drop. We left very full. Which also is rare at many restaurants now. Could have taken some home for left overs but all food tastes best fresh and as had no way to reheat it as we were passing through.
Kids also loved it. We wish we had this place where we lived. The pictures don’t do it justice. I didn’t take a picture of the full platter. It came with a bit of everything and again it was all good. There tzatziki is also really flavourful. Want it again tonight. Also the server was really really good and managed all the tables well. Way better than I’ve seen in a while.

Our meal was perfection. Vegetarian Mousakka, Spanakopita, Black Olive dip, stuffed mushrooms, salad, pita, white wine. All of it delicious, and the staff are so sweet! I really want to go back asap.

Ordered 2 chicken souvlaki dinners the portions are really good. The meal was good not the best greek food I have had. The restaurant was very nice inside and the girl was very friendly and our meal was ready when I got there. I will be back and next time dine in which will probably make the meal better than take out.

Very impressed with the separate vegan menu! Stuffed eggplant (with delicious vegan bechemel!), spanakopita and lemon tart were all fantastic! Really great service as well. Highly recommend.

Excellent food and quick, a bit weird that you had to get a key for the bathroom. Would be interesting to know the backstory.

The food was fresh and full of flavor diversity. The portions were plentiful. I was able to have a full meal from the left overs. The environment was comfortable. One could dress down or up for a special meal. The owner was caring, communicative, and accessible. Everything was done with love.

My wife and I love Greek restaurants but this place was especially great! They had a full house on a Friday night but the service was absolutely great! The chicken souvlaki was very very good!

Absolutely amazing. Wonderful service and loved the vegan menu with a plethora of options - the eggplant on the vegan menu was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Food: 5/10 LOTS of heavy creams and the tatziki tasted more like mayonnaise or a roux. Overall we felt like the food could have been good if they fixed their gross sauces.
We had to eat outside because the restaurant smelled like a mix of stale cigarette smoke and dirty bathrooms.
Drinks: MEH. The drinks were $9/each and basically tasted like fruit punch and a very boozy cooler.

Very kind and attentive staff, and fast service. The food was incredible and had huge portion sizes. Definitely stop here if you love authentic, quality Greek food. And don't forget to try the baklava! It's great.

Always a favorite of ours. I felt like I should leave them a review. The very few times we had issues with our order we were taken care of so well. Recommend this place for delicious food and generous servings.

Was our first time there and wow we were impressed. So cozy inside, very on theme. Food portions are huge and so delicious. Our server was a sweetheart and made our experience all that much better. Will be back soon!

After a missing gyro in a Skip order, not only did they answer their phone quickly, but the correct gyro arrived on our doorstep (with a piece of surprise dessert!) within 15 mins. The food is sooo good and great portions as well. 10/10 recommend!

Great first time going to this restaurant, super awesome waitress with great humor and very kind, great food was so delicious and was very nice of them to get me and my friend a table even though we didn't do a reservation and all tables were pretty much taken, there food is to die for! Will go back.

Only tried the calamari from this shop. They were super busy and the service was polite. Unfortunately the calamari was not good, it did not taste fresh and was overwhelmingly over powered with onions.

Such friendly service and amazingly good Greek food. My husband ordered the Keftedes and we split them as an appetizer- so savoury! I had the stuffed chicken breast for my main and he had chicken souvlaki - everything was delicious and we left stuffed!
What really made it a great dining out experience though was the warmth of the staff. And when I forgot my bag Amanda brought it all the way to more door. That was amazing! Will absolutely be back - soon!

3 years ago, for lunch. Service was slow. We were only ones there at 1 pm. I asked gor a beef gyro and got chicken.
We have been there recently and the food is very good.

One of our best experience at Courtney. The Greeks atmosphere and friendly staff plus variety of cuisine tests make your night. The meal portion was huge. Baklava was delicious. The only that I can say, meat was a little salty. It's not cheap but worth the price

Excellent food and service. Large portions. My husband had the lamb and I had vegetarian Moussaka. Both were excellent.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. We had the mega appetizer plate between 4 of us, and then our meals. Servers were great, no rush between courses and each of us ordered something different and we all really enjoyed every bite! Have been here several times and never been disappointed.

You know it's bad when the dogs won't eat it.
This is the worst meeal I've been served in my life, disgusting doesn't even begin to cover the swill this restraunt tried to pass off as food.
Nothing about that meal was even Greek!

The lamb was boiled slop. The dessert which was supposed to be filo based had NO filo in it.
I want my $98 back these people have no business running a restraunt!

Great food, fair prices, good variety. Service very good and polite despite being short-staffed. Will be on my regular list of local spots for dinner.

Had a great supper at Yianni's tonight. The humus to start was excellent and we both had Chicken Slouvlaki was the best we have had in a long time.would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Roast lamb is so tender and all the entrees are healthy portions! Guaranteed to not leave hungry!

My wife and I have been eating there every time we go to mount Washington for over 10 years. Summer or winter the food is fantastic. I had three other tugboaters with me last night. We walked out stuffed and all hands were very satisfied. The tsatziki was so good and their bread is incredible. The dolmades keftedes saganaki everything was fantastic.

COVID protocols were excellent. I recommend Yiamas 100%. Thanks again for an enjoyable evening.

LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! Best Greek food EVER! The quality and taste, just perks up my taste buds! I will return again and again, and will absolutely be recommending this restaurant to anyone and everyone I know. I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Fantastic greek food! We ordered the chicken souvlaki for delivery. The chicken was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The rice and potatoes were more subtle but still delicious! The roasted zucchini and pepper were an added bonus and we were too full to get to the Greek salad but did have a taste test. Food is fresh. We will absolutely order from here again. My only tiny suggestion is to work on the tzatziki as it was a little too thick for my liking. Still tasty though.

Good tasting food but extremely small portions for a Greek restaurant. Update: a return visit was MUCH better than the first.

Terribly disappointed with my experience last night. We used Skip the Dishes for the delivery of our food and was so impressed with Liam the driver and couldn’t wait to dive into our meal. I ordered the spinach stuffed chicken (great dish) and my wife ordered the “Beef Gyro”. We eat Greek food lots and I personally have cooked for many Greek restaurants. My wife took a bite of her Gyro and sprung up from the table to dash to the garbage can to spit it out. Wow was that a shocker. I called the restaurant to ask what was it that she ate it was Keftedes meatballs. When I told the woman who answered that this was a terrible mistake, she seemed to not care one bit and advised me that they don’t have beef there, just ground beef meatballs. Done with that place. Zero customer service

Friday night take-away - very generous portions, lamb souvlaki was cooked perfectly, bit of pink on the inside with a nice char. Plenty of veg, rice and potatoes - had to save the salad for the next day!

Went to try their $35 Dine Around Comox Valley menu. Tasty food and very good sized portion - definitely stuffed after the 3 course menu. Lovey atmosphere as well! Good for groups.

Outstanding service and couldn’t believe how caring and over-and-above management went to resolve something making for an amazing experience. Great customer service like this is rare to come by!

With so many great places to eat in the Comox Valley, we waited way too long to try Yiamas Greek Taverna. Fabulous food, generous size portions and great service!

We didn't think it was very good, first of all they didn't get our orders correct and we waited too long for our food to come the table, my lamb was very tough and my wife's chicken was so overcooked she sent it back the Greek salad should be renamed dry tomatoe salad with feta. The waitress was nice

After a nice afternoon of snow shoeing on Mount Washington, I took this girl I met out for supper. Saganaki, a Greek platter and a bottle of wine. The food was so good but not nearly as good as the company I was with. I'm crazy about her and going to fly her out to see me soon. Thanks for the great night!

Excellent service and plentiful and delicious food! Best Greek I've ever had. We ordered the appetizer platter and two salads and we were delighted with the quality, variety and quantity of food. The large salads are really large! The meatballs were perfectly spiced, the spanakopita was scrumptious, the stuffed grape leaves were perfect, and the calamari was delicious! With the tzatziki, olives, feta and pita there was actually enough food for a third person. The sweet Greek coffee is the real thing and we had to split the hekmek because we were so full! The people at another table were raving about the lamb so we're planning another visit soon to verify their claim.

I had just gotten to the island from Ottawa and was hangry enough to take a bite out of a complete stranger when we spotted this unassuming little Greek place.

We ordered the calamari as an appetizer which came with homemade tzaziki and the roasted lamb as a main. Gawd damn! I'm so glad we stopped here. The pita bread was soft, doughy, and piping hot. The calamari was tender and cooked perfectly. And the lamb! I just touched it with my fork and it fell to pieces. So tender. So juicy. And seasoned just right.

A definite recommend for anyone who enjoys good Greek food.
