Lobby is kinda small so don't expect too much space during intermissions. They try to get you to pre-purchase intermission drinks in advance to 'save time' but I don't think it does.
Good for modest/ local productions; gets too tight for popular performances, though.

Very nice theater, was here for "Les filles deu Roi" which was a beautful, multi language musical.
Updated review now that I have been to some more of the offerings at the York, maybe I am just lucky but I have never seen a bad show here. Go see something and tell me how it was.

The York Theatre is a local treasurer and THE place to see your favourite productions. Wonderful facility to enhance your theatre going experience in every way!

Staff are not friendly or helpful.we paid extra and got the preferable admission for better seat but there were no seat available and staff suggested to split and sit on single seats. We ended up on a terrible seat in Front of the sound system where the staff were all talking and making noises.

We bought tickets to the Flamenco show, when they first became available. I use a walker and I tried hard to find information about where to sit with a place to stow my walker nearby. Impossible. The only people who responded to my emails were the show organizers, but no one from the venue. That’s why I gave 4 stars.
However! The day before the show we received an email saying doors open at 5: 30 and theatre open at 6: 00 for the 6: 30 show. We arrived for the event at 5: 25 and there was a lineup. We parked on the street right around the corner, where there was 2 hour, parking posted. We knew we’d be a little longer than 2 hours but decided to take the risk regardless. We waited in line till 5: 45 to gain access to the building, although they let us into the theatre right away to find seats (rush seating). The staff were tremendous and helpful. I can’t say enough about their kindness and enthusiasm. We discovered that once up the elevator, there were 2 rows in the balcony that are accessible without steps so that’s where we sat and my daughter stowed my walker around a corner by the door to the balcony. It was a wonderful show and we had a terrific view…except for the people sitting in the front row of the balcony who felt they needed to lean forward and rest their elbows on the ledge. This made it hard to see around them, and some continued like this even after being asked to please sit back. But this isn’t a review of some people’s lack of theatre etiquette.
It would be helpful if The Cultch/York Theatre could publish a little more detail on their website about access to the seats for people who can’t do stairs.
Having said all this, the show was marvelous and the theatre is very comfortable and clean. I would happily recommend this show and this theatre to anyone.

What a beautiful venue and I love the upgrades. I used to perform here as a young child and I love the gender neutral and washrooms upgrades how efficient! The theatre itself is still amazingly cute and we’re here for the next few days and sitting in different spots of the theater.

It's such a great community theatre. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for a fun evening out.

Parking there is a bit of challenge, in case of event you need to park few blocks away in a residential area.

Very nice theater, was here for "Les filles deu Roi" which was a beautful, multi language musical. The theater itself is good, seats are comfortable. The lobby area can get to be very crowded before and after the preformance, which is the downside of this location, it is not really built to hold that many people in the lobby, especially with everyone talking it will get quite loud.

Went for a matinee of this year's Panto of The Little Mermaid. Brilliant! Could easily become a new tradition.

Great space and layout. A bit tight outside the theatre area but good overall for smaller shows.

Saw the Panto last night. Love the place and the production. The lobby is so crowded and poorly designed.needs big redesign.
