I should have read the reviews before purchasing package for my son. Sometimes you just can't trust a name you know. We are in Surrey, BC and when I called to book in car lessons was told they only had one instructor in Surrey that worked until 1pm on weekdays and 1 Saturday a month. We are now driving out to Coquitlam for lessons but so frustrating to book an appointment with instructor as he is fully booked most of the time and as I have to drive to the lessons we are not always available what he does have free. You wouldn't know instructor was a YD instructor as there is no marking on the car. Do yourself a favour and do not trust the name you know and research more than I did you will be a lot less frustrated then I am right now.

I tried calling them! The voice message said - their options have changed! As though I knew their previous options! Also, their website does not display the fees they would charge for driving lessons! A very negative first experience indeed!

I honestly paid $1500 for this company to bring great stress and anxiety into my life and I advise you to stay away if you're looking for a consistent and friendly learning experience

My first driving instructor was a student during the classroom portion and was repeatidly warned by the teacher for giving away the answers before the class could answer.

And of course just my luck that she ended up being the worst instructor ever and at one point insulted me by telling me to go read a book on anxiety.:/

Then she grilled me and criticized me for not being 100% straight when reverse parking. I was like 2 mm off and it looked about as straight as any new driver would get it but yet she still felt the need to bark at me and tell me I'm wrong.

So I asked them to switch instructors for me and they did and what-do-ya-know, I get another hardheaded instructors who tells me that I'm "not doing my homework" outside of lessons. I have no car and nobody to practice with. I thought the whole point of paying these guys $1500 was to ensure they would give me the best possible experience and ensure I would pass. However like another reviewer said here, All they care about is the money.

There is no consistency in YoungDriver instructors either. Having gone through 3 instructors already and none of them were consistent with eachother. One would tell me not to turn my wheel all the way when turning and another would say it wasn't a big deal

ICBC requires something like 60 hours of experience to properly pass the N test, but YoungDrivers only provides something like 10-15 hours and expects you you to make up the rest on your own?

Seriously just avoid this company like the plague unless you want to pay them $1500 for their inexperienced instructors to bark at you over miniscule details.

I wouldn't suggest Young Drivers to anyone! My grandpa paid over $1500 for my courses and I still don't get enough lessons. They only give you one lesson 1 week then they expect you to pratice at home with a co-driver. And I even try asking to have more lessons within in a week and, they told me that they don't work like that. I would expect since my Grandpa paid a lot of money for my course, that they would be the only people to teach you and give you as much lessons as needed. At the end of the day Young Drivers of Canada only cares about the money and not about the well being of their students.

Don't get sucked in!

Way too much money, for poor service and not enough lessons. You usually get what you pay for, but not in this case.

The classroom learning was fine although the instructors contradicted what the teacher said so it was confusing.
My first instructor Margarette was an absolute nightmare. Swearing and yelling at other drivers, smelt like an ashtray and basically told me that since I am fat I am screwed if I get in to an accident so it doesn't matter where I put the seatbelt. She was a straight up psychopath. In short, I did not finish the course and I do not currently drive. Also YD did nothing about her behavior and they do spread the lessons over months and months to encourage you pay for more.

This was back two years ago when I attended the YD school based on "reputation". Expensive. Paid $1448. Never completed it. Good early part of the program and had good classroom, but the amount of driving wasn't sufficient. The instructor would drop a hint here and there to remind you to pay for additional classes to pass the driving test. An analogy is in-app purchases. I got the hints at the end and left this school.
