Pay by weight Chinese style hot pot wherein you grab a clear bowl and tongs then add veggies, meat, and noodles to your bowl until you’re satisfied. The veggies looks very fresh and everything was in separate containers for easy retrieval. You then bring the bowl to the counter and pay by weight based on how much you added to your bowl (minimum 1 pound). You can also purchase a drink at the point and choose a soup base. The mild spicy Malatang is spicy enough. You pay and tip at the counter before you get a number and wait for your soup to be delivered to your table. There is also a sauce station where you can customize your own dipping sauce. Food was good and filling and soup base we choose (malatang mild spicy) was very flavourful. However, food ingredients weren’t well labelled and the person working there didn’t really greet or teach us how the system works so customer service requires some improvement. It cost $50 for two people (one bowl each).

I’ve been coming here for years and I always come back! The Malayan bone broth soup is so tasty!

It’s pay by weight which is nice if you’re on a budget, I always go overboard and get extra to take home for leftovers! Honestly the best Hot pot. 10/10

This is my FAVORITE HOTPOT place ever. Hands down I love the vibe, food, people working there, and everything! Please visit and try if you’re deciding where to go, you will not regret. I always take my coworkers or friends here:)

This waiter was definitely brought back by the boss to help with the business. It’s no problem if your family has the ration. But there are 8 people here to eat spicy hotpot and there are children who can’t eat so much, so they go back and forth a bit. There was absolutely no one picking up food in the store, so no one was disturbed. The store clerk said you can't do it this way, why don't you just make it all in one pot? I'm going to make a pot and eat hot pot. And their price is 19.98 per pound, which is more expensive than other places!

This is the best mala place I ever had in my life. It's very tasty, and there are so many fresh options, not like other mala restaurants. This restaurant is definitely one of my favorite ones.

The malatang (personal hotpot) here is my favourite for all of greater Vancouver. I usually share a bowl here with a friend (usually totalling 35 dollars after tax for two people).

Looking at all the negative reviews, it seems that it's mostly, from Ubereats or SkiptheDishes. Because the staff will have to pick out the ingredients, as opposed to you going and picking out what specific ingredients and how much of it, there's a lot of guesswork involved. Thus, I never over online for delivery or pick up.

Some of the staff don't speak English well but they're always so kind and quick to help you when you ask for it, regardless of the language barrier.
The restaurant is really clean, compared to some of the other malatang places I've been to.
Their broth is the star in my opinion! Will come back soon!

The employee was very friendly. I chose the flavour between medium spicy and less spicy but it was a lot more spicy than expected. She was willing to change the soup for me and make it less spicy without charging. The only downside was that the fried bean curds I chose, tasted old and weird texture.

The staff is ver nice. Provide cold or hot water to customer. Same stable taste. Able to choose the level of spicyness. Good quality of food.

The person behind the counter couldn't communicate with us in English. Along with that, they don't advertise that you need to have a minimum of 1 lb of food before they would even serve you. A 1 lb of food costs $19.99. There's very limited selection of food and they don't look particularly fresh. There are much better food options around the area for the same price where you'll get better selection, food, and service.

I ordered the delivery through Uber eats today, and was very disappointed. Chose squid 100g, and honesty is this amount is 100g? I don’t think so. They put a lot of cheap ingredients instead of squid. It’s not like what I ordered for. Literally just 3 of squids and that’s all. Even not fresh.

Want to ask for another pair of chopsticks but the owner said we need to pay for extra for that. I don't think it's reasonable. Also the taste is really at the average level. Will not come back for the food and the customer service especially

Found this place on Fantuan, ordered the single person combo meal on a deal. Really happy with the medium spice and the soup base was good. You get a drink as well so I'd definitely go back

The restaurant was very clean, ingredients were fresh. Owner was kind and they were very strict on ensuring all the guests are sanitizing hands and writing contact info for tracing. Food was also very good:)

Over priced, avage $60/per person and we were so chocked, ordered medium spicy and not spicy enough but $60 for a dinner portion that’s way too much

Zhangliang Malatang was very delicious and flavourful! The ingredients were all fresh, and the taste of malatang is the same like the Zhangliang that I ate back in China! The interior of the restaurant looks like as if I’m transformed back to China! And the boss of the restaurant was very nice and attentive! Overall very good place to try, highly recommended!

No questions asked. Go and try it and you'll fall in love
I used to go here 3 times a week during cold days

First of all at $14.98 /lb its over priced, Grandma Liu (soon to open down the street) or in Richmond is at 2.99 /100g which is around $13.55 per lb. What I also find appalling is that I was charged $1 "to go" if I didn't look at the screen carefully I wouldn't have noticed. It's sad to see restaurants charge extra due to COVID requirements to serve with plastic bowls. At least be reasonable. Your plastic bowls do not cost $1.

Taste wise it's good, flavorful. There are a lot of selections. At mild, it's still a bit spicy for me and I can tolerate spicy. I appreciate the fresh beef slices but it's very hard to separate because they are stuck together.

For better value, I would go to Grandma Liu.
