Coyote's Bistro on Franklin

I wish I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars. Our service was amazing, the food was delicious and the ambiance is lovely! I highly recommend if you are visiting!

It was me and my wife first time there and it was amazing. It is now our go to restaurant in Yellowknife. Staff was amazing and you felt like you are priority. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Ed and his kitchen crew have come a long way since taking over. Though I was initially not smitten with the food, the quality and presentation of several of my last meals were delicious including one of the best breakfasts in town now.

Food was meh, tasteless. Poutine was much much smaller than advertised, Mac and cheese bits, mozza sticks too were both tasteless, even the marinara was tasteless. This is a long cry from what Coyotes used to be.

Could not recommend Coyotes family steakhouse more! Tasty food, amazing service, cozy atmosphere. We came here the first night of our trip from Australia and had to come back for my birthday dinner where Edward went above & beyond to make it special for me with a table side made dessert & special drinks. We then continued to go to Coyotes throughout the duration of our trip, Edward making our experience so special each time! The family is so beautiful & our experience with Coyotes restaurant has made such an impact on our trip to Yellowknife. We love you!

Disappointed with the service.
Had dinner with family visiting. We put our order in and noticed people after us received their food ahead of ours. An hour goes by and half the food arrives, all wrong. Then had to put in another order for the missing food. Going to eat elsewhere with family visiting another time.

A very chill place to eat and enjoy yourself. Service always great. Gave 4/5 for atmosphere just cause there has to be room for improvement somewhere and service and food are top notch.

A real family experience they treat you as if you are one of their own. Foods always on par amazing staff.

Food was good! Drinks were amazing - especially the liquid dessert! The staff were top notch and will definitely be going back during my stay! A must go to place for sure!

Had the fish fry (local white fish). Might be the best cooked white fish I’ve ever had. The staff was lovely. Who I assume is the owner sold us on the dirty Caesar and fish fry with charm, passion & good humour. Does not look like a fine dining establishment, but do not let that deter you! It was so delicious! House made teriyaki sauce for the fish was lovely, fish & fries cooked to perfection and the dressing on the fresh salad was yummy.

Located on the second floor of the Royal Canadian Legion building the heart of Yellowknife’s downtown, Coyote does not present a particulalry compelling curb appeal (the stairway to the second floor restaurant gave us pause), but don’t let that deter you. They purport to be the city’s longest running restaurant; based on our dinner we can see why they have been successful.

In keeping with everywhere we went in Yellowknife there is a very casual vibe. There are a lot of well spaced tables in a large room, two pool tables and a large bar area. Service was prompt and friendly.

We ordered Donair Egg Rolls as an appy (because, that just had to happen), and a Philly Cheesesteak and a Prime Rib Burger (the burger on the recommendation of our server) as mains.

The Donair Egg Rolls were exactly what you’d expect, with the bonus being the classic, Western Canadian-style donair sauce on the side. This made one of us very happy as he revelled in this blast from the past!

The Philly Cheesesteak was, well, not really a Philly Cheesesteak. Effectively a steak bits, veggies and cheese hash on bread, it was a generous portion but just OK.

The Prime Rib Burger, on the other hand, was fantastic. Thick, juicy, char broiled and flame kissed to perfection, with a brioche bun that held up until tge last delicious bite. We highly recommend that burger.

Meal (with three Strongbow ciders) came to $114.47 with tax & 20% tip. Recommended.

I saw some reviews stating that the owner was rude/unpleasant which was quite strange. I can see how the complaints regarding appetizers might be valid, since it does look quite small in the pictures and I did feel the 1 pound wings I ordered (10 wings), were a bit too small in quantity for 18 dollars, but it seems to be about the norm in yellowknife for wing price. However, in regards to the customer service and the quality of the entrees, I felt that's where the restaurant shined. The owner was extremely friendly and pleasant to us, even giving us a free house salad on our first time there. The waiter and waitress working at the time were also very attentive and near impeccable at customer service. Aside from the wings and calimari, aka appetizers, the house special at the time (ribs) and bison steak were all cooked perfectly with great flavour. The star for us was the pickeral and the seasoned potatoes in the vegetable medley on the side. Again, although the fish was a bit small, the flavour and texture of the lightly fried fish was spot on, along with the owner's signature sauce. Disregarding just the restaurant atmosphere, it is a gamer's haven as there are pool tables, various games, and even a built in card shop in the restaurant. Fans of Magic The Gathering should definitely come and take a look as not only is there great food, but also a welcoming atmosphere for us nerds. Next time in Yellowknife I would definitely come again, and bringing my old Magic cards too.

Went there on a relatively quiet night; witnessed a person with his family ask the wrong server for drinks and then afterwards was cussed out and berated by the owner. I paid for my drink and left…

Don't miss the Northern Fish Fry if you like your fish. They informed it's fresh catch they source locally, served with fries and salad. The fish did taste good and was cooked beautifully. The sauces also had a distinct touch. The guy who served us was super fun. The place also serves liquor, has a pool table and games for kids. Great dining experience ️

All I can say is YYYUUUM! Fun menu with a large variety to suit whatever it is you are craving. Quality is consistently excellent and pricing is good!

The portions of the potatoes skins was laughably small for $16, see photo. Owner was very uncomfortable to be around and quite rude. Would not recommend.

Went in 30 mins before close and ordered a delicious Donaire. Came with a good amount of fries. The customer service was really good especially being so close to being closed. Will definately go again.

I was visiting Yellowknife for almost a month and I went to eat here more then once. It’s extremely difficult to find a breakfast place in Yellowknife, and one that serves breakfast past 11am. For being a town know for Northern Lights I think someone should open up an all day breakfast spot for the Aurora Chasers and tourist who stay out and wake up late. My point being it was so nice that this place served breakfast till mid afternoon. Food was pretty good simple but good. The owner maybe / and they other staff very friendly.

Awesome well seasoned food and superb customer service. Spend the extra 2 bucks on the gravy, it's worth it.

Food is excellent, service is superb in a friendly atmosphere, its a gem in the city of Yellowknife.

I am stuck at the airport in yellowknife for a few hours, and not only were they willing to deliver good to a random person calling from a parking lot but they went above and beyond when the order got mixed up, even tho i told them not to worry about it. Amazing customer service, the delivery driver is a gem, and the food i tried has all been delicious. If im ever in the area again i know where i will be eating!

Great food, great service! One of the things I came to Yellowknife for was the Arctic Benedict (eggs benny but with Arctic Char). Delicious!

The host and waitress were very personable, joking and making small talk. The Thursday prime ribs, Yorkshire pudding and veggies were super tasty and a great deal for the price. The potatoes were especially tasty. The fish and chips were not great, but decent enough. We had to wait quite a bit to get our food. Loved the Coyote's Irish Coffee. We'll definitely go there again soon.

Great service and a great menu - longer than any other restaurant in Yellowknife so everyone is bound to find something they'll want to eat (especially if you like poutine). Pool tables and lots of boardgames for customers to use. We watched an NFL and an MLS game while we were there. Bonus - this place is open when most of the others are closed (Sunday between 2 and 5)!

Great food and a large well rounded menu. We have invited friends there with us and they also, were very pleased with their food.
The owner and staff make you feel very welcome and provide you with a very good dining experience.
The food is very good and I have even ordered and enjoyed dishes outside of my comfort zone. Definitely an amazing place to eat!

The wings were awesome and I love their gravy I also had the lobster bites they were awesome the lobsterr was very tender.

Our goto restaurant in town. Constantly good, an owner who cares. Light years ahead of other long time restaurants.

To call it mediocre would be a level of praise I cannot in good conscious give. There are zero redeeming qualities. Sub standard food even by yellowknife standards. To everyone who claims the food is good, I suggest that the next time you leave the territories, you eat somewhere other than KFC or Burger King, cause this place is trash.

Excellent waitstaff service, fast delivery of food. I got the buffalo burger and sweet potato fries. Friends got the coyote denair wrap and another got the steak n philly sandwich. 10/10 should visit on your trip
