Belly Up BBQ & Grill

We had an awesome lunch here. I got a couple of appies and my boyfriend got the lunch special. We both enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the beer.

The food is great, the servers are all super nice and they have amazing food. I highly recommend the smoked watermelon salad.

Good place for BBQ, need to understand the menu to be sure of what you are getting. Sometimes a lot of food, sometimes less. Friendly wait staff.

Smelled like an ashtray walking in and a smokehouse should serve fresh, daily made smoked wings, not 1-2 day old dry wings.

Had their smoked wings.amazing! My friend said her burger was really good too! She wasn't a fan of the fries, but we both wanted salads so that could be why. Salads unavailable which is the same everywhere right now because of supply issues and pricing. Staff very attentive and friendly. Would recommend this place

Wow. Top 3 pulled pork sandwich I've ever had! Great massive outdoor patio, with occasional nightly entertainment with stage set up. Would love to have a place Ike this close by for regular patio nights:)

Delicious food! The patio is beautiful as well. We were very impressed with the staff, the food and the presentation. Extra stars for having a dog friendly patio! We can't wait to come back.:)

Had the Caesar salad and a burger. It was delicious. Dining area was clean and the service was great

Food was great but had to wait 25 minutes for the final bill and rarely saw our waitress. The place is severely understaffed for the amount of seats.

Amazing, the food was incredible and the atmosphere was wonderful. Recommend coming here if you can!

The BBQ chicken was not cooked well enough for me. A wing should be able to be pulled from the breast for me. As for their smoked beans, they were fantastic. The atmosphere was lovely, but the waitress we had should learn how to smile.

Not the best experience.
1) took over 45 minutes for our food and it wasn’t that busy. Never say the server once during that thing
2) didn’t have the brisket that I wanted so ordered something else. Wanted the potato wedges that came with the brisket but it didn’t come with what I ordered. Server said she could get them for me, then charged me extra.
3) wife’s food didn’t vine with a side (which all other dishes in that section did). She told the server she didn’t want a side but would order one as it came with it. Nope, it didn’t, server didn’t say anything and again we were charged for it.

Food itself wasn’t bad, not outstanding but disappointed they ran out of brisket as that was the main reason I wanted to go there.

Fish and Chips were delicious, the chicken waffle sandwich with the maple aoli was unbelievable, definitely going back to try other items on the menu

Had dined in here for the first time. Haven't been to Truro for over 5 years and thought I'd give this place a go. Great friendly service with some very good English style fish and chips. My friend had the poutine with burnt ends which was also very good, nice smokey flavor. I don't recall the price of the poutine but it was definitely meal size and my fish and chips was $11 for a one peice which is very reasonable. They had Oland's Export on tap which is a rare thing to see and I was glad to see. Would definitely go back again!

Waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was terrible! My burger was hard on the outside and rubbery on the inside. It tasted old, as if it was cooked previously then reheated. Another person with me got the brisket dinner. For $23 he got 2 thin pieces of meat and a scoop of mashed potato! He said the brisket was dry and tough. He had to use a knife to cut it, normally a fork would separate it. It looked like over cooked liver. Another person with me got the club house, she had no complaints. I used to live in Truro but now I live away. It was the Mill when I left. I come "home" a few times a year to visit family and friends. This is the first and last time I will dine at Belly Up. The name suits the place, the food is belly up.

Had the Brisket which I thought was considered the best thing they had but something was just off about it. The smoke they used was just too strong and off putting and this is coming from a guy who loves bbq. The smoked wings were good. They could have been a little juicier but they were good Fries were the frozen type with a Cajun spice they were good for frozen. Service was good the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Its was lost of customers talking and interacting but it was not at a very loud noise level like some places. It was at a good sensible level where you could talk and interact with friends. It was quiter but not too quiet. It was just right.

If you want a good southern fried chicken sandwich and don't mind the really really bad service this is the place.

The exterior look is deceiving as it is quite nice inside. Food is very good. Prices are on par with similar pubs. I will be back as I want to try their ribs.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food was fantastic. Big portions and tasty.

Lots of great items on the menu and the food was delicious! The atmosphere was nice and the patio is a great feature. I will definitley be returning!

The food was next level, and service was good. Some of the best BBQ ribs I have ever had. What a gem!

My mac and cheese with burnt brisket ends was really good and the service was really friendly. The ribs and brisket were dry and over cooked

We have been here at least 25 times over the past 2 years, being in the food industry myself for the past 32 years l have no problem giving this place and it's team 5 STARS.

Steak was perfectly cooked. Very nice and tender. Perfectly salted. Salad was delicious aswell. Will definitely be back.

We were looking forward to trying this place considering the reviews of other customers.

$71 for our meal, my husband's was fantastic however my beef brisket was disgusting. We were going to get dessert but I was so disappointed with my meal I ended up finishing my drink as fast as I could to get out of there. It took a while for us to be seated and our order taken. Even longer for our food to arrive.
The brisket was lacking flavor and way overcooked. Hard to cut and even more difficult to chew. Corn fritters may have been good if they weren't overcooked as well. My guess is they haven't changed their oil in a while because it tasted like fish.
The beans were dried out and loaded with chunks of fat. A few may have been ok but this was excessive and unnecessary. Best part were the jalapenos in it.

Sadly we won't be returning after such a terrible experience. Service was friendly but that was it.

Jan 16 2021. Just went here for supper. It is amazing. Anything from the smoker is fantastic. Jim and his crew cooking there are Rock stars

Decent Bbq spot I'm surprised I never went to. Looks like they have a great setup for summer entertainment.for sure a spot I'll hit up moreso in warmer months.

Service was very slow, food was so so and over priced for what we got.also had to ask like 8 times to be recorded in their covid tracking book.

Always a good experience. Staff is friendly and very accommodating, and we always enjoy chatting with them decor could use an update, but aside from that it's one of our favourite places for weekly date night

Really good food, really good prices. The place is clean, it's busy but they have enough people to handle it. I definitely intend on going back.
