Don Cherry's Sports Grill Sydney NS

I ordered the Cowboy Steak with mashed potatoes and carrot puree. It was one of the worst steaks I've ever had. There was no sear at all, no crust, and worst of all, no seasoning whatsoever. It was a very bland tasting steak, and for $50, I expected so much more. I ordered it medium rare, and it was cooked exactly that, but sorely lacked any kind of flavor. The carrots were very unappetizing as well, and again, very bland. The mashed potatoes tasted like the instant potatoes that come in a package and were also very bland, and grainy tasting. Even the Skor cheesecake I had for dessert seriously lacked any kind of flavor and tasted like a cheap frozen dessert. I was very disappointed with the food here, especially for such expensive prices. The only thing I enjoyed about my meal was the beer, and the very friendly, knowledgeable staff. That, however, is not nearly enough to make me ever eat here again, and I would strongly recommend that no one else does either. Save your money for a higher quality restaurant experience elsewhere.

Wonderful place, the manager is beautiful and very professional, bartender is the most qualified in the area, the cook is good and the waitresses are hot.

Great wings and awesome party platter, but at a cost. Wanted to sit in the bar area but was given a table completely away from the bar.

My wife and I were visiting from out of town, we decided to stop into the Sydney River location on a Friday evening. I had the wings and my wife had a poutine. I liked the wings, my wife had a poutine, we both had a pint of Bud (from the tap). My beer was fine, but my wife's had an odd smell and taste, I compared it to that of cough syrup. I didn't realize how bad the strange smell and taste was until I took a drink of her beer, it smelled and tasted like cough syrup, and my wife wasn't feeling well after having a few sips of it. I asked for a manager, surprise surprise, none was available. The waitress offered to take my number and have the manager call me in the next day or two, but for what? So they could offer me something if I return? No thanks.

They credited us for my wife's beer, but that was it. To be honest, it felt like they didn't believe us, even though the smell was obvious enough to prove it. I will never return here, or to any Don Cherry's, after the experience and being treated this way. My wife was visibly not well, and I provided all the evidence needed to prove there was something wrong with the product, or the glass, I have no idea what would've caused it. I've had "skunk"/bad beer before, and this was not that, it literally tasted and smelled like there was cough syrup in it. This was a disgusting experience, and to credit us one beer when my wife was visibly ill was a slap in the face. Never again.

I'm a manager at an accounting company, and my wife is a legal assistant.all our family and friends will be hearing about this in person and on social media.

Service was great! I wasn't a fan of the food though, the Cherry Chips were like rocks and I didn't like my food at all. A little expensive. The Spinach dip was the best part.

$54 worth of food for 2 ppl. Price/what you get they have lost the plot. So many better options. The service was great. My sandwich lacked sauce had to ask for more to add. My kid ordered a chicken Caesar wrap got chicken to 1 side it's literally a salad in a pita wrap. Mix it so you get bites of chicken? Scandalous. I still tipped the server just greedy management

Ordered the Great North burger 18 bucks burger came was cold and there were 15 french fries still hungry after paying 26 dollars for burger fries and pop. Do better!

Just came for a visit for wing night. Called prior and was told by the waitress they had wings till closed. Arrived and was told the kitchen was not open from 9pm but they close at 11. Drove a distance for nothing, and just got off the phone to verify moments before showing. Waitress should of specified no food from 9 instead of just general closing. Bad communication on their part!

Listen, if you want Wings, this is the place to go, nobody got wings like Don Cherry's they're always good and thrusdays Wing night, so grab a few of the boys, slam some wings and some beer!

If I could rate this place zero stars I would! I just went here to eat, the food was absolutely terrible! I had ordered the ribs and there was no meat what so ever! Then I was still forced to pay almost the full price and I didn’t even get to eat any of it! Absolutely terrible! Would not recommend this place to anyone!

Great place, great food and wonderful staff! Definitely recommend the wings. You will not be disappointed

Gave it another try from the last time, wings tasted like they were microwaved and soggy, the Mexican dip tasted like plain cream cheese and little cheese, the greatest part was my beer, it was cold and not flat

The waitress we had was a darling. Food was good. They have really good Mexican dip. It really hits the spot.

Extremely over priced for cookie cutter food, There are much better options in the city for that price!

Restaurant is nicely decorated, had lots of sports on various TV's, and pleasant staff.
The only downside is that it took 25 minutes for my overcooked burger to arrive. Fries were hot tho, so that was good.

The service was fast and polite. Food was good. I ordered Irish Nachos and Canadiana Poutine. It was delicious. Just as expected from a sports bar/grill

Great food and our first waitress was fabulous. She was off towards the end of our meal and the waitress who took over seemed irritated. Will definitely return however.

Went here for dinner in Sydney River because of its convenient location. The food was ok, but kind of plain with next to no vegetarian options let alone vegan ones.

I ordered the steak meal.absolutely fantastic.cooked to perfection, beautiful assortment of tasty vegetables, crisp fries, and surprise garlic bread. Best place I've ever eaten HIGHLY recommend!
