We had takeout but it was delicious, well prepared and they made sure we had lots of condiments

Great local place for fish & chips! The restaurant is clean and staff are very friendly. We liked it so much that we came here twice during our 5 day visit. We ordered the haddock and chips both times. The fish portions are very generous and the oil is very clean (see photos). Next time we are in this area, we will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

My husband and I and our parents went here to eat and oh my.we ordered the 5 piece fish and chips with coleslaw and gravy and when we got it we went wow.huge servings and it was absolutely DELICIOUS! We will definitely be back. The service and atmosphere was fabulous and I would recommend it to all our family and friends! Great place to eat!

The best fish and chips! The halibut was fresh, the fries were good, the Greek salad had very little feta cheese, only 2 olives, and the salad dressing didn't seem to be homemade (which is disappointing considering the price). I usually visit Port Perry once a year; this time in September 2023, the portions were half the size and higher prices. I ordered the 2 piece dinner, expecting to take a piece home - I ended up eating both pieces and all the fries with no leftovers! So you need to keep this in mind when ordering. I will definitely go back next time and order the coleslaw instead of the Greek Salad. Perhaps they are under new management.

Really good haddock and chicken. Better than the halibut house. Bit stingy on the fries, but otherwise really good. It was a packed restaurant with a lineup and the very friendly ladies said it would be 5-10m but gave it to me in like 3. Wish the park nearby had more picnic tables we couldn't sit in because of the dog and had trouble finding a place to sit and eat.

One of the best fish and chip that I've eaten. Bather is so fluffy and crisp. The fish is so fresh.

A nice local diner for fish and chips. We lined up for 20 min on a lunch weekend. The place roughly seats 50 people.

Good solid fried fish. I suggest to order onion rings and/or poutine on the side.

This place has excellent food but I prefer taking out. The dining room is open concept and can feel a little claustrophobic sometimes.

Good fries with skins, coleslaw. And the star of the show, fish with thin crispy batter. Will be back for sure. Small restaurant with sea shanty vibe, a bit dated.

One of my favorite places to eat but tonight extremely disappointed. Service extremely slow, not very busy! Meal.fish- thin, dry, my friends, too dry to eat. It was almost like it had been precooked then heated up! Tartan sauce runny not like it used to be. Used to go there regularily, now NOT RECOMMENDED unfortunately! Such a shame

This is my 2nd time here. I really enjoyed the halibut and onion rings. Great place, friendly staff, freshly cut fries and really nice batter on the fish. I will be back.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. We were at the restaurant and they gave seats to people that walked in after us and told us there were no seats. Lady at the order desk was very rude as well. Do not recommend.

This is an extremely busy fish and chips restaurant in Port Perry. I would definitely recommend getting takeout at Captain George, not only because it may be hard to get a table walking in, but because they have some great takeout specials. We ordered the Haddock and Chips special, which was Buy One Get One, meaning we paid $14 for two servings. The servings are sizable, coming with one huge piece of fish and plenty of fries - almost a bit too much. Surprisingly, what I enjoyed the most was the burger we ordered for around $6. All in all, we spent around $30 for two fish and chips, a burger, and two soft drinks. If you're not able to grab a seat in the restaurant, there are plenty of benches under a 5 minute walk away towards the water.

I do wish they offered homemade tartar sauce but the packets were sufficient and they'd probably be charging more if that was the case. Still really delicious and I'd come again.

Would I Return? - YES

The food won't blow your mind but you can still get a hot plate of food at a decent price.
I happened to visit on a busy day so there was a bit of a wait. It's my first visit to this location so this review is based on one experience.

Take advantage of the Specials. There's a Haddock and Chips Special - buy one meal get the other half price.

The clams (served with cocktail sauce) were tasty but a bit stiff and chewy.
The Haddock was crispy, not overly battered and flaky on the inside. The portion wasn't too skimpy (being a special).

Conclusion
The service was friendly, the food is served fairly fast and the fish was flaky. It's worth a try.

Food was very good, the dining area was very clean BUT the bathroom were awful in term of cleanliness and flies all over.
Enough to joy go back.

From the moment we walked in it was welcome and pleasing. Definitely a must stop for your fish and chips needs! It’s been a long drive from Houston, Texas but very glad we made the stop in to enjoy a great lunch!

Food was fantastic as always, best fish and chips around, the staff were less than friendly, granted it was fairly busy but barked at several customers about having no space and forgot some order, if the waitresses relax a little they would do fantastic
