Captain George's Fish & Chips

Great prices and awesome food, Ken the cook is a very nice guy! Highly recommended. Not all captain George's are good but this one is great!

It's getting harder and harder to find a decent fish 'n' chip place nowadays. This is one of those gems you find and cherish. Great batter. Great fish. Great chips and great portions for a reasonable price. No complaints.

Offered no accommodation for my disabled son. We only asked for some extra space to park his mobility aid, but were told gruffly that "they would rather us not. "

We have a unique perspective because of our son's disability, but it truly brings out people's true colors.

We left immediately and will not be back.

Edit: this was with an older waitress that had terrible demeanor to be in a service position.

We entered the restaurant during a very quiet time (one table occupied) with our disabled 5 year in his mobility/accessibility wagon - harness and food tray.

The server said "I don't have room for that in my dining room". There were at least 3 places we could have pulled up at a table without obstruction, and 20 more guest could still come in!

We explained that it was accessibility for a disabled person and she shrugged. I said if we can't leave him in it to eat, we are leaving. The server said "ok" and shrugged again.

This is not ok.

The fish here is excellent. Crispy and moist. On this occasion, I unfortunately had a raw floury taste, but this is not the rule. Coleslaw is made in-house.
Fries are to die for.
Wish we had a Captain George in Toronto! Only in Eastern Ontario.
Highly recommended.

Next to Amherstview this is the best Captain George's. Fries are amazing, service is always stellar and good prices.

The dirty woman who accused me of something I never DONE!

Hi went in there today and got accused for doing something that I never done will never enter this place ever again in life! The food is not cooked properly high prices! Stay away… and I will be taken this further! You cannot blame people for something they never did you old bag! The old white hair woman will never have no luck for accusing me for something I never done! And it’s bad food

This one lady Nancy deserves more honestly. Very friendly, welcoming and trying her best to serve people even though some customers are rude to her. Very nice and kind she doesn’t deserve to be treated bad by customers.

Went there for lunch ordered the fish and shrimp"s Not only was the prices higher the food was horrible The fish was smaller than before and chewy The shrimp batter was hard and greasy Won't go there ever again Wouldn't even give it one star!

Stopped for early dinner. Haddock dinner. Pork pita. Chicken burger where awesome.
We will return.

Friday night dinner time was pretty packed but the five of us were able to get a table. The lady serving us was super nice which was very much appreciated.

We ended up getting the family meal of 5 haddock fish and chips, a large cole slaw salad and 5 cans of pop. I expected fairly small portions of everything, but was I surprised at the size of the fish! I felt that it was a 10" piece of succulent haddock that was a bout an inch thick. The other guys commented how good and light the batter was. The home cut fries were plentiful enough that we couldn't finish all of it. Needless to say, the cole slaw disappeared quickly as well. All of us enjoyed a great dinner and excellent service.

The icing on the cake was that one of the guys paid for the whole dinner!

Being from Toronto, I have to say I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area, and that residents of Brighton are very fortunate to have such a tasty and affordable establishment in their town!

We stopped on a Tuesday (many restaurants are shut in Brighton I’m the beginning of the week).
What a great meal of perfectly cooked fish and chips we had!
Service was super fast and friendly, the batter light and crispy and the hand cut fries awesome.
My Wife is from Scotland, so she knows fish and chips (she said it was the best she had ever tasted).
We split the two fish, one chips family deal and were barely able to finish.
Good portions and well worth the $’s

Quiet. Quick service. Kids' meals include a hamburger larger than what we normally have at home, so easily filled up my 9-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. I had the chicken souvlaki, but wished I took the halibut and chips. Update: Came back with a couple other of my kids and had the halibut and chips. Five stars.

1st timers. Service was very good. We had halibut 2 single pieces they were good sized and thick. Nice thin batter. We'll be back.

Real racist vibe, we are a blended famliy and my black wife and mixed children were requested to wait out side for our food. As for my self a white male I entered shortly after my wife was asked to leave and i was welcomed to sit and wait. This not ok. This place backwards, get out of this hick town to better yourself

The chowder (if thats how you spell it) was really amazing, Im from South Africa, so the fries for me was amazing, like back home with no peel. The fish was weird, like I had the haddock, for me it was over cooked, but the batter was still raw on the inside, so not sure if that was the texture of the fish or what, but would definitely eat there again.

Amazing food! Not too battered or greasy. Highly recommend and would love to go again if I'm driving through.

Worst fish and chips ever! Your better off buying frozen fish and chips from grocery stores. I think people have lost their taste buds in this town or don’t travel much.

Brighton store always cooks the fish to perfection and the chips are great and often excellent.

The Halibut and fries meal for 2 came with the smallest pieces of fish I've had anywhere. Fish was good, but the portion was poor. Unlikely to return.

Friday night is family time. Food was hot and delicious, and ready at the time requested. Keep up the good service.

Loved it meet up with my brother and had a beauiful lunch, The server was nice and the food was good.

The fries were mushy and the fish was tough. He put the fish on the grill. I think he was reheating them. Sooo disappointed! I've been trying to be healthy and this was a cheat night. We went home and didn't feel great after eating.

It's a fish and chips joint. Nothing that great. I personally think they are a little cheap on the fries, and they have a hard time making them really crispy, but the fish is decent. A little pricey, but okay for a rush

Looked forward all day to "fish&chips". Drove into town, ordered and waited a reasonable amount of time for take-out. Got home & sat down to eat, bite #1 and my hubby was spitting it out. The halibut was bad, off & totally inedible!
Hubby returned to restaurant & asked for a refund, the owner (?) told him he didn't know what good halibut tasted like. He was rude & argumentative. This was unacceptable & we will never return.

Haddock was great. A two piece with one fry was plenty for the two of us. Called the order in well ahead of time and was disappointed with the extra half hour wait. The pandemic had something to do with that but it should have been factored in. At least their in a free coleslaw. Yummy fish!

My mom and I stopped by a week ago on our way home from Belleville clean bathrooms clean store bright and sunny location we sat in the sun! Friendly owner as well good price for what we paid for halibut sandwich chips and 2 piece halibut and onion rings. We will recommend and probably return if going that way!

I've been to different locations of this chain and this one is by far the best! The batter on the fish isn't too thick, but crispy and brown. The fries are thick but crispy. The tar tar sauce is unreal. I'd definitely recommend this fish and chips. My family has been here many times and swear by it.

Fantastic fish and chips, excellent service and a nice atmosphere make Captain George s a great spot to stop for a meal. Been here multiple times and never been disappointed!
