Not busy on on a Wednesday but great service keep up who even made does pancakes were amazing

Always great food at this diner, usually good service, however, that was not the case today. I ordered my usual bacon, eggs, homefries and toast, waiter came back with sausage, not bacon, when I said I ordered bacon he said sorry and stood there not saying anything else.like I will be right back with the bacon.i then said I don't eat sausage, so I wouldn't order it, again he only said sorry but took no action to correct the mistake. My dining partner then asked for a side of bacon, again, another chance for him to correct the error and just take back the sausages and bring me the bacon I ordered, but no, he actually charged us for a side of bacon. I wasn't upset at the original mistake the waiter made, however, his handling of it was completely unacceptable and put a damper on the whole breakfast.

Love this place and happy they're close, super friendly waiters and delicious food, especially brunch on weekends is so good, also good price and nice portions

Went there for brunch with my best friends. The service was great and the food was delicious.
If you are in a rush to get in and out, this is not the place for you. If you have all the time in the world to catch up with old friends then I strongly recommend Chew Chew's!

Great home fries, caring service, classic diner atmosphere. I believe the more negative reviews are because they do not appreciate the appeal of a classic diner. The specials are a great price if you come before 11. Also, the owner cooks meals for the homeless so give a nice tip

Met my daughter there for breakfast before she left town last week. I had the classic eggs Benedict and she had the eggs Florentine. I was pleased they used proper pea meal bacon and there was a generous amount of spinach on the kid's. Eggs were perfectly poached and refills of coffee. Server was pleasant and attentive and it was a delightful meal. Please note the College streetcar is not running so you will need to hike over from Yonge.

I love Chew Chew’s. It’s my goto for breakfast in the area! The staff is great and the food is always incredible. If you want a really good diner experience, go!

If not already an icon, Chew Chew's is probably recognized by locals as an iconic big breakfast place. Staff is always up beat. During morning rush they're too busy to chat, until things slow down.
You might call the fare standard diner, ranging from eggs to souvlaki, but be warned, the portions are huge. Eggs Benedict are my go to here because the sauce is thick and creamy, the eggs are poached to perfection. The owner Alex always makes sure the order is perfect, otherwise he will send it back.
The beverage choices are pretty standard, but the OJ is fresh. Like real fresh.
This is the kind of place to go on a Sunday morning, but don't tell tourists, the place will get over crowded. We're going to enjoy this hidden breakfast gem for as long as possible

Amazing greasy spoon diner. We went for brunch and my fiance said it might be the best eggs benny she's ever had.

Cool painting on the outside wall, on the sign outside they have a picture of a train the smoke out of the train stack looks like McDonald's golden arches likely a subliminal thing to get your attention. Restaurant closes at 3PM so get here early.

Classic old school diner, the right amount of grease to give you that energy you need to get out of a bad hangover, and for a super reasonable price! Inflation stopped in the '90 at chew chew. The cherry on top is the fact that inside is like sitting in a train car (a bit.)

This might be the best food in cabbagetown. I had the philly steak and my wife had the chicken club and we were blown away. Can't wait to go back and try some more things on the menu.

Wow! Definitely a place to go for delicious breakfast! I'd like to go back and try something other than breakfast. Everytime I come to Toronto I will definitely be visiting this scrumptious diner! The eggs Benedict is to die for! And the prices are amazing for what you and you def wont leave hungry! If you have the time, stop by and come hungry!

This place hit the spot for breakfast/brunch. We ordered All aboard special and crispy chicken Benedict.
The bacon was so crispy and eggs very fluffy. The hollandaise sauce was very tasty. The portions were very generous. Also enjoyed the design of the restaurant, hence the chew chew (train).
I really enjoyed my visit, as the servers were very welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be back whenever I visit downtown TO.

Service was great. Food was even better.they making awesome eggs Benedict. My husband had Danny’s eggs Benedict, which is basically eggs Benedict with meatloaf in the middle. It only hurt out of his mouth was this is amazing.

So yummy! Loved the hollandaise. Eggs poached perfectly! They were short staffed so we had to wait a bit, but the waiter was super nice and friendly. Eggs and bacon came with a heaping pile of peameal bacon! Melon also was delicious

The food here is amazing and at a very affordable price. The interior is cool because it's supposed to look like a train carriage. Service was not the greatest though hence -1 star. We never got a water refill and they forgot the pineapple on my meatloaf Benedict.: (I would visit again and recommend it though for the food and cheap prices

Went here a couple of weeks ago for brunch, food was excellent and honestly pretty affordable considering the inflation and compared to other brunch spots in the city.

Great service, super friendly staff, and most of all good was delicious. I got the conductor special and it was very good, great value for what you pay as well. Eggs were cooked nicely and the pancakes were perfect.

The guy serving us was a bit off-putting and never refilled our water but the food itself is really good and the portion sizes are huge, especially for the price.interior is pretty cool because it's designed to mimic the interior of a train, but it was also a bit stuffy and hot in there.i would go again

Update: surly server who says the f word constantly, hung up during take out order, scowls when I don't leave a tip due to his attitude, and pours himself a Bailey's and coffee at 10: 20 am. Owner beware.

A really nice and affordable place for brunch. We ordered the great Canadian rail omelette and the eggs st Patrick - both were large portions, filling and tasty. Service was friendly and quick. We came on a monday holiday around 11: 30am and were quickly seated as the place wasnt busy.

A wonderful hidden gem in a city full of choices but for great food and friendly service this place is among the best!

The best diner I’ve been to out in Toronto. Despite the staff being very limited the service was absolutely excellent.

I am a regular here and there seems to be a change in management, as it's not as organized/friendly as before (other than the OG staff who recognized us- we also Grey and sorry to hear she's no longer there). Brunch items like eggs benny are consistent if not elevated in ingredients, but souvlaki dish has downgraded in taste/soggy red rice? Fried chicken now comes in fingers format instead of actual chicken piece.

A great classic diner. We had eggs bacontine and cajun chicken poutine. Simple, delicious, abundant. Spacious inside with lots of booths and tables, able to accommodate parties of all sizes. Very reasonable prices for the area.
